Dave, again you really know how to review an extremely great looking and sounding guitar while showing your amazing guitar playing talents, I feel G.A.S. coming on
It not the settings it’s the guitar Cole Clark uses a 3 way pick up system incorporating piezo pickups at the bridge for low end , body sensors for mid range , and a mic for higher end and blends them together they are incredible sounding guitars when plugged in !!!
Thank you, Dave. I enjoyed this review and I know I will be well pleased when this beginner's "step-up" guitar, the Angel 2EC-RDBL arrives May 13, 2021. That will be guitar #5, though I might sell the Taylor Academy 12e (with gig bag and added Taylor GC case). Having lived among Sitka spruce, koa, and redwood, among others I'm partial to those tonewoods. Just when I thought Lloyd Baggs was "the cutting edge" of acoustic amplification, here comes the new thing up from Down Under (I'm hearing the 'Jaws' theme...).
@@josealvinpalas4454 Yes, Jose, Cole Clark pleks every guitar, and the Spanish Heel design transmits resonance throughout the neck from endpin to headstock. (See Cole Clark Guitars' video on how these guitars are built and crafted from locally sourced woods, including Giant Sequoia planted 150 years ago by Australia's Botanist General as an experiment. Those trees were planted singly, rather than in groves that allow mutually supporting root systems that result in longer ages and size.) Look inside at the end of the heel for the certificate initialed initialed by every craftsman working on the guitar.
I came EXTREMELY close to buying a really pretty Angel at Guitar Center not long ago but ultimately went home with a special edition Martin GPC Aura GT. The thing that sold me on the Martin was the Aura preamp on board. I only play live and the Aura system just has to be heard to be believed. If I weren't playing live very much and just needed something for home, The CC would have been my choice but the Angel was right there in quality and sound with the Martins and Taylors and are priced right there with them but offer much more unique wood grain aesthetics. All the Martins and Taylors looked the same like every other regular spruce acoustic and the CC was the one that grabbed my eyes.
@@FastRedPonyCar I've used the Aura Spectrum DI pedal and it sounds like crap and heard demos on YT with Martins and they're no better. Did you actually plug the Cole Clark in? They use a face sensor and mic along with the piezo. You can actually take the piezo out fully. The Martin still uses a piezo as well, just with a few of the Aura sounds. Not convincing to me.
@@halfbakedmunky5566 that was what i was thinking...CC are made to be played live yo. Talk about their 3 way pickup system.. damn!. As a fingerstyle performer, owning a CC is in my damn list man😂! I just want that 3 way pick up system and the guitar quality is ❤ Awesome build guitars tho!
@@dustinadair7893 Yes maybe the video audio didn't do it any favours. It's hard to really get a good idea unless you are sat in front of it, in the same room. I have owned 12 different brands of guitar, and some which I expected to sound good (Ovation, Takamine, Fender) just didn't, and others I thought would be rubbish because they were cheap (Tanglewood) actually sounded pretty decent. I have sold them all and only have 3 guitars now, and to be honest, I only really play one regularly, and that is a hand made Lowden.
Hey Dave I’m about to buy the Cole Clark, however it was a toss up between the Angel 2 Blackwood or Bunya, i do a lot of looping and fingerpicking what would you recommend. Baring in mind i dont slap the guitar when looping i use a beat buddy and loop the rest so its not percussive.
Hey Wallace! I probably like the unplugged sound of bunya better, but the plugged in sound of Blackwood better. I think the best thing to do would be test both instore with your setup. They’re both amazing wood combos so it really is just personal preference if you’re not tapping your guitar
I tune my guitars and other instruments to A4=432 Hertz, which sounds a little flat initially, until you get used to the three natural vibrational frequencies 432, 528, and 933 Ha (cycles per second. I feel better after playing at 432...
Dave, an excellent review - just as good as your tutorials! I'm currently considering a Cole-Clark Angel 2 for (mostly) un-amplified non-percussive fingerstyle - and a little strumming. Just wondered what your thoughts were on their acoustic loudness - say compared to a Maton? Being country Western Australia, finding it a little difficult to arrange for a demo, so any guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks! Now I haven’t played a whole heap of Maton’s, but I would say that generally spruce tops (what Maton use most) probably have a louder unplugged sound over these Blackwood tops. Having said that the Angel comes in a bunya top too which is close to spruce. It’s hard to really give an answer here though, as I said, I haven’t had too much time with a Maton. Either way you go through you’ll get a great guitar!
Yes there’s an internal mic, cole Clark’s are great for percussive playing. Just make sure you get Blackwood top if that’s your style because it’s the most durable wood
@@GuitarZero2Hero i got you I tap on my martins all the time spruce top mahog back and sides ..you are saying you can still tap on a redwood just its not as durable? thank you from nyc...you are fantastic!
They don't really recommend hard tapping on the redwood as it's a much softer wood. Blackwood is their most durable top and then bunya is their mid range (which is similar to spruce I believe)
You shouldn't ask for a giveaway, man. Instead we should thank him for putting such presentations(which btw take weeks to film and edit) for free. Try to save little money every month and be patient. When you become financially strong, consider tipping him too.
I'll be doing a giveaway in the future - so try your luck there - but please don't expect that because i'm doing a giveaway its yours - I really don't like it when people feel entitled to win and then get angry at me when they don't. I love doing giveaways but it makes me sad when people behave like that. Try your best to save for one yourself and don't rely on me for it!
Hi Dave I was wondering if you can do a tutorial I had to play little do you know by Alex and sierra Please give a like if you want him to make a tutorial 😃
Dave ... more than the gutair I was more focused on the way you play and it's absolutely amazing ..... realy like the way you play the gutair
like the way the sunburst has been carried through to the head stock, beautiful playing by the way.
Your hands my friend! Is magic!
Thankyou!
I usually don`t like sunburst color, but on this guitar... WOW... it looks and sounds amazing. :O

The plugged in sound is so good here. Could you share your settings please?

Ed Travers I know but I still want the settings used here :-)
I now own the SAN Blackwood Sunburst of this version because The woods more hardy for the weather here 😊
Such a beautiful guitar! Thank you for the review :D
Thanks Olivia
Those medullary rays in the bridge and fretboard!! I need it.
Really love those unplugged tones

Did you not plug the CC in? They are made to play live, not acoustically. Never heard a better pickup especially not in a Martin.
@@halfbakedmunky5566 Then you haven't plugged into the Aura system. It's incredible. Nothing like the thin piezo systems we're typically used to.
