Thanks for posting! Still thinking about purchasing. I might just buy for the center console only. The dash looks intimidating in terms of installation. Does the light ever reflect awkwardly on your windows when driving?
Should have come from the factory with ambient lighting. Along the top dash is the perfect location to light up; unfortunately it's next to impossible to get it perfectly straight when taping it on... should have wedged it between the air vent and dash trim instead.
Cool , must have accessory...... I hope elon musk saw this and install ambient light on all model 3, y etc... on all new cars so no need for after market.
@@Iegend17 I would encourage you to check my most recent ambient lighting video as I have found an even better version of this kit without any hotspots etc
Mine is getting here next month, and I really want to install the lights around the center console. Are there any warning signs that I'm applying too much pressure, or do I really just need to go for it and hope it doesn't break? Thanks for the video
I think you should go for it. I have another video of how to install it. The link I will give you is for my 2022 model 3 performance and it’s a newer video with more details :) ua-cam.com/video/w2JtQxJ49EM/v-deo.html
Okay, just installed the led strip, but the problem is that they are on non stop. I plugged it in the 22V socket like you did. I was hoping that they will turn off when you lock the car. Do you have any idea how to solve that one?
For your dashboard ambient light, why didnt you reroute the black cable under the passenger knee area towards than under the lower part of the center console, instead of rerouting under your front seat? Now you have all this visible black cable around your passenger seat...it just looks ugly and unfinished that way UA-cam has some vids of ppl rerouting that part under the lower part of the center console, albeit the previous console set up, but I've seen you already unclipped the side panels of the center console, so you know there is space...
True you aren’t wrong. I agree with you 100%. I really wanted to get this video out. But I will definitely do what you said when I have time. Working full time and doing UA-cam is hard. I wish there is more time in the day haha. I will put all the black cables under the arm reset where the OBD 2 connector is. I have seen videos. It’s located under the rear vents so I’ll have more space to put stuff in the arm rest storage :). But thanks for the advice 👍🏼💯
For the lights it’s only a 12v socket. Worse gonna happen the fuse will blow thats all. I doubt it will happen though haha. So this doesn’t affect warranty at all.
@@jimj2683 what kind of stupid logic is this!? Lmao, dumbest thing I heard. Why would I want to affect my warranty for a little addition to the car. They replaced everything under warranty. Also they let me have a loner car for the weekend. But I guess I should buy a cheaper car right? Great logic Jim
@@Iegend17 for the top ones you need to take off that side piece that’s hard to get off like u mentioned. Wire it through there and through the piece in the drivers footwell. Idk if u understand what I’m saying but there’s a few old videos on 2020 model 3s that work.
You're buying an expensive car and you have to put ambient lighting to it yourself. Honestly I would rather buy Mercedes C class or BMW 3 series, rather than buying this overpriced futuristic car. Honestly Tesla is not worth it.

Nice but if the frunk locking mechanism fails while driving on the freeway you will not be able to see probably why Tesla did not include 🤔

How do you make lights turn off when you leave the car? I’ve seen no alternative to switch the plug off, otherwise they remain ON😓
On the ones I have (via Aliexpress) you can turn them off through the app OR they will just turn off after a while if the car isn't "on"
Thanks for showing how you did it. Will give it a try

its quite amazing how we spend 50 thousand grand on a car in 2021 and still can't get ordinary ambient lightening. what a shame
Exactly haha. A 27k Hyundai Elantra has ambient lighting.
Dont really need it tho, some people dont like it actually.

I said it in the video. You have to remove that side trim and push with the other hand. It’s pain in the ass but see if someone can help :)
It takes over your entire middle console storage area?
You can cut whatever you aren’t using. I ended up doing that tbh.
Are all those wires in the center console from the lights?
Yes you can cut the rest. Which I did but didn’t show it in the video.
