Cool to finally see someone else that double clutches taps. I have the Mikita clutched chuck I put on my dewalt impact to tap anything what will fit in it. Makes it so you rarely break taps even the really brittle ones
Dude...Robbie, that's so mean of you to tease us with already powder coated frame blurred in the back ground. Can't wait to see the finished product. Keep rockin the great content.
haha if it makes you feel any better, it's not powder. This is still a driver and we've got a few more things to do before we wrap up chassis, but gotta get it together quickly for the 10/26 C10 Fall Revival show.
If I ever bag another truck I would do a watts link. I had a kp components kit on a silverado with a panhard and the axle shifted through the travel. This though looks solid.
Those solid watts link ends begin to bind and wear with the back and forth radius of the parallel bars, prolly gonna need monster heim joints eventually. Awesome video, thanks for sharing!
Happy to help with advice or insight, but we only have the bandwidth to work on our own projects (and make this content for you guys). I love a good k5 though.
I LOVE your project. I'm thinking that maybe your welder should use acetone to degrease metal before welding because it dries clean with no leftover residue. That stuff in the spray can he used is possibly a carcinogen and.....should not be heated to a gas around people without a proper respirator device. Anyway, good luck with it. Can't wait for the next video.
man this totally made me decide on going this same route on my square burb just wished i wasn't paralyzed and able to do it myself again,oh well maybe I will get it figured out soon enough myself sweet build though keep up the killer work and cool Vid's #dreams #goals
Thank you very much. Great question and one I actually had to confer with Mike on a bit to make sure i was thinking about it the right way. Mike set the pinion angle at 4.5 degrees with the 4 link and then yeah, it's basically locked in with Watts, too. That said, in this instance, most output shafts are set between 4-5 degrees so Mike aimed for the middle. If we have to do any adjustments once the trans is in, we'll make them at the trans - not the rearend. Thanks for the constructive question. You actually made me think a little with that one.
banga8080 i didn’t say there won’t be upgrades to the braking system, it simply will not include rear discs. Never had them, and have no need for them. That is not a must have on this build.
Beating the link ends into the bracket is only gonna get tighter with powder coating or paint. Otherwise nice setup. Fire Up Chips (CMU flag on the wall)
@@pancakebreakfastclub2653 I live just south of Lansing. Lots of friends and family that went CMU. The flag caught my eye immediately when it showed up in the shot
Very Cool build , I cant wait to do more on it.
Thanks, man! We got plenty to do.
That is one of the best rear link set ups I've seen.
I agree. Mike did a wonderful job making it happen.
Now that's progress! Looking good Robbie! If the rest of the build looks as good as the chassis it's going to be one sick k5!
Thank you, buddy! We're working hard on it.
Robbie this channel has taken off brother !! Mikes work looks awesome always love the content bro! Much love ...
We're working hard to grow it but couldn't do it without you guys! You've been here since day one and I appreciate it.
The 4 link is coming along nicely. Another great video 👍
Thanks, Shane!
heck yeah looking good robbie can't wait to see the body back on it thanks for the video buddy
It'll be a bit longer before we do that, but working toward it everyday.
Another great video as always
Thanks, Michael!

@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS I could use your advise to where to buy good quality parts?
what are you doing with the gas tank out from underneath the 4x4 blazer
Jake Gouge no idea. Not really sure what shape it’s in.
Extraordinario! Éxitos chicos!
That watts link looks interesting 🤔
I might have missed it, excuse my question if was explained already. Why sleeve bags over double convoluted bags?
Sleeve bags in the rear for strength, lift, and ride and bc I’d like to tow with the blazer
@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS fair enough. I lack knowledge on sleeve bags.
Dope

Looks badass. How come you didn’t get a newer rear end with disc brakes for the K5 ??
Money and time, baby. This is a driver. I've never run rear discs on any of my old trucks and if I decided to on this one, I could pretty easily.
Using a Straight flute tap in an impact driver makes the fitting gods cry.
Get some spiral flute machine taps if you really must use the uggaa duggaa.
pinkskud1 I was looking for this comment. Was the only time on the video I was cringing was during every impact tap operation. 😬
What do you think of a 1976 chevy military truck? The Canadian military used them I can link you some photos of them if you want me to
Love 'em!
Nice travel! Dang
Sweet, looking and working well👍. What’s your intentions once the K5 is complete Robbie?
Road trip it with family and friends. And tow a camper, cargo trailer, and maybe even Teddy!
Are you going to box the frame?
No, I am not. It's been boxed around the notch in a decent section. No need to box the rest.
I want to know where your friend churchill bought his hat. I want one or a few.
Heck yeah! That's our buddy SQRBDY's brand. www.sqrbdy.com
@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS Thanks man, I actually just ordered more of those hats.
Should have the hats on the website on Nov 2nd.
Do you have a part number for air bags please

Anyway awesome work..
Haha not enough wrenching I’m sure
Robbie I really like your channel. I have a question about this video, how will
you set the pinion angle with the watts link already installed?
Thank you very much. Great question and one I actually had to confer with Mike on a bit to make sure i was thinking about it the right way. Is this rugged enough for offroading?
I would say it is, but I imagine you'd want 4x4, right?
I love the show iam building a 74 c10 very similar setup thorn watts, 4 link, bagged
Sweet! It's my first legit bagged vehicle so I'm pretty pumped.
What type of airbags did you use on the rear?
Is that a Phoenix watts set up? I'm trying to find 1 to fit a 454ss 14 bolt.
Did mike go to CMU!? Who’s the Michigander!?
haha Mike Howe is the Michigander. We're all GA boys!
No disc brakes for the rear?
No sir. This is a driver and, honestly, I have no need for discs in the rear.
So you upgrade the suspension and frame but not the braking system 😢the most important part 🤔
banga8080 i didn’t say there won’t be upgrades to the braking system, it simply will not include rear discs. Never had them, and have no need for them. That is not a must have on this build.

How much did that cost you to make
Where is this watts link from?

What bags are those that aree on the rear
Where can i get a watts link?
This one is from Thorbros.com
What camera do you use ??
Nikon Z6 with a Nikon S f/1.8 lens. It's relatively new and I love it.
How much did it cost want mine c10 done
All depends on what you want. Reach out to Mike on Instagram @mike_howe83
Nice job where can I get the 4 link from ??? Thanks
This was a builder’s kit from Thorbros
All that room for a rear tire and you put suspension in the way! You could have fit a 12” wide tire in there
That wasn’t the wheel plan for this one. I love this set-up and appreciate your feedback, but a wide wheel wasn’t in the cards.
good👍👍
Beating the link ends into the bracket is only gonna get tighter with powder coating or paint. Otherwise nice setup. Fire Up Chips (CMU flag on the wall)
