    Description: Iris Diaphragm module
    This video show the result the Interactive Body V2.0 workshop of Group 5. We've taken and prototyped the iris diaphragm mechanism. Modularizing the Iris diaphragm mechanism allows for a multitude of dynamic applications(such as daylight entry, ventilation, sound walls and doors) by implementing them in for example walls, floors, roofs and façades.

    hi, i'm an architecture student and i am doing the iris diaphragm for my facade.
    i accidently see your video and this is really amazing!
    i know how to use rhino,arduino, and also the mechanism of iris diaphragm. however i just began learning grasshopper and know little about it, can you show me how your two parametric grasshopper make this work and how to do that?

      Well - We had the plans drawn in autocad and I simply put them into Rhino and Grasshopper, The first 'parametric' model is simply linking the geometry to a certain rotation manipulated by one slider and the second, more interesting grasshopper model is done with an attractor point, measuring the distance between it and the simulated diaphragms. Hope this helps.

    First of all I love this project. It's so elegant and beautiful. Nice work! I'm wondering what software you used? It looks so cool! I would love to try and learn it myself for prototyping.

    Hi,
    That's an awesome iris you guys made there. We are making a flower with an iris for an art project and we are looking for an iris blue print.
    Could you guys help us with this? We don't have such a technical background, but would love to make such iris. We made a couple of tests but the designs doesn't seem to work as perfect as yours.

    How in the freaking world you interact with the potentiometer and Rhino??!?!?! I almost fainted (I work with 3ds max though). Arduino and some kind of plugin?

      Prototype is being actuated through Arduino, the 'simulations' are done with Grasshopper(A parametric modeling plugin for Rhino).
