    JOURNAL ENTRY 4/12-13/17 THE BAHAMAS
This morning we are leaving Little Farmers Cay and the shallows of the Exumas bank, and sailing further south on the open ocean. We made our way to Rat Cay where we were hoping to find a good anchorage for the night. We dropped anchor and had a fantastic evening enjoying the beautiful views from this protected anchorage, but once it got dark and the tides began to change, we soon realized we were anchored in a strong current of water with an opposing wind. And we all know by this point that an opposing tide and wind on Turtle, means an anchor rode wrapped around the keel.

You two are very brave. I would not want to find myself in the situations that you experience on a daily basis. By the way - great camera angles! Thanks.

Thank you! We tried to make the best of it and looking back, we are glad that we went to Rat Cay, even though it ended up being a sleepless night full of stress. Haha These kinds of experiences help us learn. We can't thank you enough for leaving us a comment and for watching our videos! Hope you have a great day!

We have been considering sharing more of our adventures, but want to finish our sailing to The Bahamas series first. We have many other interests and hobbies that we would love to share, but aren't sure if anyone would even be interested in watching non-sailing videos on our channel...at least until we can going sailing again in the future. Thanks for giving us the encouragement! We will definitely consider our options and share more if we can. =D

Why did you not use your forsejl to run into gnarly cut?

We usually drop the sails and motor through dangerous or tricky cuts and bar entrances. There are so many variables, that it helps to be under power in case we come across unexpected obstacles or need to turn around quickly. Thanks so much for leaving us a question and for watching our videos!

    • @SailingTurtle

Our navigational charts will occasionally show a strong tide area, but no, we didn't have a specific chart to show strong tides. Thanks for watching our videos and for leaving us a comment!
