So returned to the motherland.. good to hear, and I a am glad you did the scenic route .. I’ll be doing the same from Calais to thionville and on the way back from epernay to Calais next week. Glad to hear the fjr is going well, I am taking my rt over and I am looking forward to it very much indeed.. thanks to you I will looking for the P.A.D. signs in the villages and assuming most will be adhering to it. I recently watched videos of a trip to Spain via France by two UA-camrs in their respective cars. They were very impressed by the French autoroutes - no potholes, no roadworks and very little traffic - until they each got the eyewatering bill for the tolls. The Dartford Crossing experience has been much improved by the removal of the physical toll booths.
On a Moto I avoid Autoroutes, motorways, and dual carriageways like the plague. In fact, on the trip to the UK, I used them on the FJR, only out of necessity, more than I had done in all of the last 5 years put together!
