I saw those vids. Both bikes were nicked in Reims. By the sound of it, in neither case would anything short of having locked the bike with a chain to an immoveable object as you suggest or to another bike have presented any problem to the thieves, who probably just lifted it into a van.
@@riderramblings Hello, good to hear you enjoying the videos👍 The temperature in Europe ranged from 15C through to 23C, with lots of rain on the mainland but Norway was well behaved with no rain temperatures 19C to 23C. Perfect weather for a Scotman used to cold, wind and rain. I was so lucky, you should go to Norway, you will love it. The NT used no oil whatsoever and returned 60mph over the course of the tour. I managed to get about 240 out of a tank on one day but was getting a little nervous towards the end.
Good evening . Coincidentally I watched the same gs theft video (father and son) and it’s made me errr a little paranoid about touring, I will be taking a chain a few disc locks and a cover next year , I’ll share this video with a few touring mates to. I think 50% of our accommodation has secure parking and by that I mean gated underground. The purpose of my riding mainly consist of IAM mentoring so a route is planned or b a destination with my mate , but it normally ends with a destination. Sometimes I set out for a ride with no plan other than the type of ride I want ( country / fast roads / knarly roads or a mix ) and it’s always either north west or east north bring the staple .. if I went south I’d need a boat not a motorbike 😂, east or west are motorway arteries or if to come inland a bit some busy A roads but north leads me to Guildford , Alton , Winchester etc (avoid Surrey) its been castrated by lowered speed limits and specs cameras monitoring the average limit so we need to be be good boys and girls now and obey , it’s either that or MAMILS..and we must watch what we say now to as not to offend … its making us here in England feel like we’re under a very communist rule , still I digress , n/w is my fave heading I really struggle with going east maybe it my inner compass no idea, for some reason for me going east is like a fish swimming upstream. It may be the well the thought of traffic congestion, it seems worse towards Worthing and Brighton , anyhow, glad the fjr is running well post surgery , how’s the ankle doing now? Thanks again for the video 👍
Don't get paranoid about theft. I have a routine which I have kept to for about 15 years. It is: Park next to a post, get off the Moto, take my gloves off and put the lock on (the Disc Lock or Chain or both), then take helmet off and faff about. 😁 Someone also suggested to park in a very busy, well illuminated, area if you're parking on the roadside. Chain the Moto to the lamp post... I must admit, I tend to look at a single Moto parked at the side of the road and only glance at a line of the them. Hearing all sorts of horror stories over here about Far Left, 2 Tier and his cronies. 😡 The ankle is fine though we're having a cold snap and the arthritis is kicking-off. ☹Should be OK again next week as the temperature is back up above 20°C for us from Tuesday.
@riderramblings I agree with you about a single bike vs a group. Groups seem less conspicuous..also strength in numbers? Glad the ankle is OK and we are going to experience an almost identical weather pattern here. Tonight I have the log burner lit. As it is 10º and falling here in deep south UK I have just put tron legacy on to watch (again) ha! Catch ya soon

I did see the videos from the guys who got their bikes nicked, very sad. The bike cover is indeed a must have along with disk lock and chain.
Alex, I'm enjoying your Norway series. Some stunning roads! A couple of questions: What was the temperature like? and Did your NT1100 use any oil?
