    The advantage of the ones that were in water is that they been sitting outside the entire time. Exposed to the elements so they might be hardier. I will have to wait and see. Thanks for your video!

    I tried propagating fig cuttings by placing the cuttings in water and its taking forever for the cuttings to grow roots. I also placed some in plastic Ziploc bags on top of the fridge wrapped in newspaper and got tons of roots in the same amount of time... :)

    Hello, I love to collect different types of fig trees. Just a little hobby of mine that I started and got hooked this year. I put my cuttings or branches on water to root them. I do not put anything on the water. Just plain water....once rooted, I will plant it in a garden soil mixed with perlite. Thanks for viewing :)

    I'm jealous of how many different varieties you have mate!
    I notice the water looks very clean/clear... I've had a bunch of cuttings sitting in a cup for a couple of weeks now and the water has become rather murky... is it necessary to change the water?

  • @SolidGoldShows
    @SolidGoldShows  11 років тому +1

    It really depends on the type of plants or trees. I believe mine took 2 weeks. I have not tried it with a lilac tree, but I always suggest to try anything. Never know :)

    One good way is to Get a large translucent container to cover the fig twigs
    then put the twigs in the container and add SEASOL Or Good Quality
    SEAWEED solution which promotes rapid rooting. Rate is
    3 ML of SEASOL for 1 liter of water. The large container stops
    the fig twigs from drying out. Place in a semi shaded area.

    Hi, it appears that you rooted some of the cuttings upside down. The bigger part of the cutting should be the one to grow roots

    I think it might be better to pot the cuttings as soon as you see the signs of roots coming out. The shock from transferring from just water to soil might be too much for the cuttings. I think you might see almost 100% success that way as I have had the best results like this.

    I found out that the rooting in the water is much faster than in the soil but the leaves withered when transplanted in the pot. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

      Try putting a plastic cover over it and see if that works.

    This is a little test of mine. I am trying different ways to propagate fig tree cuttings. 1/2 of it did not make it. It is best what you have stated on your comment...thanks!

  • @Pepesplants

    I have the same question as Rigo76443.
    What is the success rate after potting up?
    Why not use straight perlite in a palstic pot with a plstic humidity cover? I respect this effort of yours and I am not being critical. Please share your comments and what you may have learned from your efforts to root figs in water?
    Thanks,

    • @Yongc6101

      It depends on the weather conditions in the area you live. I use large tote plastic container with 25 watts heating pad under the container and fluorescent lamp in the top. I live in northern California where temperature dips close to 32'F some days in the winter.

    • @Yongc6101
      @Yongc6101 2 роки тому

      The success rate was about 80% in the cocopeat soil while 90% in the water which is faster.

    আমি ফিগ চাষ করতে চাই।ফিগ চাষে কি ধরনে মাটি ও আবহাওয়া প্রয়োজন,বাংলাদেশে কি চাষ করা সম্ভব হবে? কি ভাবে ফিগের চারা বা বীজ বাংলাদেশে নিয়ে গেলে ভাল হবে।আমি বাংলাদেশি ইতালি বসবাস করছি।আমাকে পরামর্শ দিলে অনেক উপকৃত হব।ধন্যবাদ
