- Highlights from a cruise on Saga's Spirit of Discovery in February 2023. Due to bad weather the Captain aborted the intended destinations in the Arctic & a revised itinerary was put together within 24hrs which showcased the Norwegian countryside at it's best with 5 new ports. Watch the video to see if we saw the Northern Lights.

Stephen, fabulous video with incredible scenery. We love Norway and have decided to book a Northern Lights cruise on Spirit of Discovery - your video has whetted our appetites. Just want to ask, are the coats everyone was wearing given out to all guests to keep? Thank you
Pleased you enjoyed the video. Yes, the coats are yours to keep & they also provide crampons for your boots. When you book they should ask you what size you need. They usually carry plenty of spares so if it doesn’t fit you can exchange for a different size.

Hi Stephen. I guess this "Let's Wing It Cruise" turned out better than a planned itinerary. 4 night of the Lights. I think you got more than your moneys worth on this trip, yes?
Absolutely, however, there were a number of passengers who were moaning / complaining that Saga had not delivered the cruise as advertised & were unhappy at not going into the Arctic Circle. I had quite a few discussions with disgruntled passengers & couldn’t believe their attitude. The welfare of everyone onboard has to be the Captain’s priority.
@@stephenmann9911 Well, I hope they had good travel insurance so they could file for a "Cruise not sailed as advertised" and see if they get any refunds for Captains discretion of passenger safety !! UGH, there are "Karen's" Everywhere !! booooo I thought 4 nights of lights were better than sailing all the way to the Arctic Circle to find them, meanwhile puking in the hallways due to severe storm motion sickness. Oh but then they could complain that the Captain put their lives in danger for sailing into a maelstrom storm on the North Sea !! ha ha ha ha
@@stephenmann9911 What do you think these people would have said if they got to experience a good Norwegian terrifying storm at sea, while lying with their arms around the toilet bowl and calling for the moose?
Ironically, the week after, were able to go right up north on spirit of Adventure although we didn’t get the northern lights you saw.

Stunning video so professionally filmed however you’re voice is almost inaudible due to the beautiful music - you can’t have both at that volume. I’ve no real idea of where you docked. A shame but keep them coming as your photography skills are excellent.
Thanks for the comment. It sounded OK when I was editing it & played back through the laptop but I agree with you that watching it on the TV the music was way louder.
