+wsijtsma Maybe, but you save a lot of time and hassle since they are slot-in replacements.

Nice? Yes. Overpriced? Definitely. I'll buy a used 430W for around $6500. I don't mind twisting knobs if that saves me $3000. Imagine if someone paid you $3000 to twist knobs. Who wouldn't take that job?

True, but is is also $ 4000 more expensive than a Garmin 650, which mitigates the advantage you would otherwise have by saving on install costs..

@Wouter Actually the IFD 440 is priced about the same as the GTN 650, if you don't get Wifi or bluebooth. But the IFD 440 is a slide in replacement for the GNS 430 and has better user interface than the 650. So between the Avidyne 440 and the Garmin 650, I think it's a no-brainer to choose the IFD 440.
That said, Avidyne is notorious for gouging customers through repairs and upgrades. I have an Entegra PFD with outdated software version 6.0. Avidyne wants $6,000 to upgrade the software to 8.0. Oh, but if you buy their $9,000 DFC90 autopilot, they're happy to upgrade the PFD for free. So I would not wholeheartedly recommend Avidyne at this point, unless one has plenty of money in which case more power to you.
