I needed to see this. I’ve always had long natural hair and would get soooo many compliments, then I went short and relaxed and got mixed feelings.... so now I’m cutting it all back off like yours and honestly I’m tired of not feeling beautiful with whatever style I chose to wear! It’s my hair and I shouldn’t let others define my beauty especially when it’s about hair 😊❤️ you’re beautiful sis!! I love it!!

I was just having a conversation with a friend of mine around this same topic. Before I big chopped I too had fears; that I would not look beautiful or feminine. I told myself that surely I was beyond caring about the opinions of others but I was still a little unsure. One day I chopped and I looked good with my short hair…do you hear me?!?! Baby, you couldn’t tell me nothing and with makeup on…honey please, double that!
I big chopped last month and now got my hair in mini twists , best decision ever. Bye bye Relaxer !
I let my hair get matted (long depression after not working, and just kept it wrapped) So last night I chopped it. I felt sad at first but now I love it! Clean, free, soft for this first time in years. Conditioned it and it will grow back healthy. Thanks for helping me feel good about my choice! ❤

@@khadishadoesitall8065 well this is due to breakage that I do not like. My sisters, niece and others don’t want me to cut it. They want me to keep my length but I’m more about the health.

My hair made it to waist length now and I can’t do anything with it but wear a ponytail or straighten it. I can’t even wear it curly because it’s too long. I haven’t touched my hair in a month because I’m so over it (I just wrap my hair up Nubian princess style in a cute scarf) but now it’s matted and I don’t want to do a thing but shave it off. Just like you everyone loves my hair and yells at me not to cut it. I’m scared to do it but man I need to keep reaping what you said at the end so I can just do it

i call this the "Big Trauma Chop"!
it's jarring to the soul when you go from long to cropped even when a professional does it, let alone hacking at it with scissors yourself.
this time, for my second big chop, i'm trying to transition for a minute to let there be some length when i cut off the damaged hair.
