  • Ascend 4,098 feet from Chair 9 in Glacier to Artist’s Point (5,140 feet elevation) in approximately 22 miles. The Mt. Baker Highway (SR542) is one of the most scenic paved roads in the country and rarely is the highway closed to motorized vehicles. With steep elevation and several switchbacks, this ride is not for the faint of heart but the views are stunning. MOre info at bakerhillclimb.com

Looks awesome. Come try mt. Spokane. There are two climbs to the top. The road or gravel. Both are very challenging.

Ridge ride in Port Angeles was tougher than that. 18.5 miles with a 5000 foot altitude gain. ;)

I rode both in the same week and would slightly agree. Hurricane Ridge is longer, it's also more exposed to the sun, the traffic is worse though (unless you ride the event). I think Baker is more scenic overall, and seems like the hardest part of the climb is at the top (2:21 in this video). If there's any heat at all, you're also going to need to have a water cache up either climb, especially Baker as it seems so remote, you can find yourself riding a half hour on that climb and not see another soul, rider, or car, unless you're riding this event, or sometime like Labor Day weekend.
Mt. Constitution completes a trifecta in northern Washington. It's not as long, but noticeably steeper throughout.

If you haven't yet ridden up Haleakala Volcano, that is one to get under your belt. 10,000 foot climb from sea level for 36 miles. Avg grade is 5% but has two grade areas that are over 15% up to 23% at last part. Well worth the ride.

@@kawikajones9436 - I think 18% is the steepest grade I've ever ridden, which was only 50+ yards, I think. 23% would definitely get my attention. ;)
