I think the real disadvantage goes to Google. Why would I ever again buy a phone that's $700+ when one like this is half the cost and pretty much just as good?
Been using the 4A for 6 months, one issue I always have is that the device heats up too quickly. Long zoom calls or long videos, even charging with the 18 watt charger will heat up the phone quickly. I keep removing the phone from the case whenever I feel the phone heating up. However, so much quick heating cant be good for the battery, right?
All that matters to me is that its a no nonsense phone with a great form factor. Works well for me! Only issue In India is the price...at $410...its expensive than US pricing
I just received my 4a 3 days ago. Comparing it to my 4 year old OnePlus 3, here are my gripes: 1. Despite the screen being 5.81 inches, the aspect ratio makes this an extremely poor device for media consumption. It's extremely small as most apps don't take up the whole width of the screen (in landscape) because of how narrow it is, even when you zoom in (which leads to information loss). 2. The speakers, though they are stereo, do not get loud enough. I was boiling water with my electric kettle and even though I had the volume at max and I was 10m away from the kettle, I still could barely hear the sound. 3. Taking screenshots is not as easy. You need two hands because the volume and power button are both on the right on the device. You could go into the multitasking screen and press on the screenshot button there, but there is SIGNIFICANT resolution loss. For the reasons mentioned above, I've decided to keep my OnePlus 3 as a media device. I'll use the 4a as a productivity device because there are noticeable performance gains.
I have been a loyal user of pixel and Google fi for longtime. So I ordered a 4a as soon as it was released and traded-in my pixel 3a. Now I realize it is a bad idea. I should have stayed with 3a instead of upgrading to 4a. I am not a heavy user. Here are the issues I am facing: 1) Overheating during WhatsApp video call(less than 10 mins). Call drops if I click on flip camera. 2) Several touch misclicks. Basically touch screen is malfunctioning every now and then. This is due to the lag. 3) biggest issue, the camera. It stops video recording all of a sudden and all the recording is lost. It shows an error saying something went wrong. 4) Delay in notifications. I am missing WhatsApp calls and messages, Gmail and other notifications. Notifications from all the apps pop-in at a time. I called for the customer support and now, Google is sending me a replacement device.
The "5 worst" aren't an issue to me. Yesterday, I heard a review from a guy who used this phone daily for a month. The positives basically matched yours but his frustrations/issues were: volume of the speaker, the phone over-heated/froze/needed a restart on a few occasions when using Google Duo for 20-30 mins.
I've had more 4a for a couple of months now. The media volume is low and I would love if there was an app that would boost volume but I haven't found one that doesn't wildly distort the sound. Plus, this phone is VERY sensitive to heat. When I get in my car after my phone has been in it all day, at around 75 degrees during the day it complains that it's too hot and that some of the phone features will not operate at optimum levels. Other than that, it's okay.

I was always an LG guy, but I went with the pixel 3xl recently, and I was extremely disappointed. Every review gave it steller reviews, my LG was just as good minus the camera
I'd like to take a stab at this video real quick: 1) Way to go, really pushing that sponsorship of yours in everybody's face. I don't know about you, but personally, I wouldn't want my pretty flush and findable fingerprint scanner to look like a sore thumb, sticking out of my phone, and I think it's convenient to have on the back as opposed to taking up more screen space. 2) Smudging? Really? You could probably say that about any back of a phone. iPhones have glass backs that are notorious for cracking, as do some Samsungs. Google uses a bit more durable plastics, so I think an extra year of my cellphone is more appreciated than temporary smudges that can be easily fixed with an alcohol wipe. 3) Your wireless charging complaint is about as valid as an expired coupon. You were just complimenting it's long-lasting and well-performing battery life, but now you want more charging variants? I thought Google was trying to avoid charging more often? And additionally, you can get a Type-C charging cable for £5 instead of a wireless one for £20, and this phone is about saving some money, so that would just be illogical and not a commonly used feature. 4) Again, this phone is about saving the dough. I doubt people will pay an extra whatever it is for a flimsier finger experience and a more inconvenient pocket carrier. I think everyone in this comment section can agree when I say that this phone is the perfect size, if not too big. 5) Not many camera features?? Coming from a previous iPhone 7 user, this statement is terribly terribly wrong. Photo sphere, lens, panorama, slow-mo, time lapse, video, portrait, night sight, up to 7x zoom. This phone is loaded for such a low price tag, and oh woe is me if it doesn't have telephoto or ultrawide with a single lens. 6) So I checked Dbrand. You know how much a case was? £40! This phone is about practicality and economic efficiency, and then you expect us to pay some £40 for a case when I could be buying a much more renowned and durable Otter box or Lifeproof? I got myself a pretty alright Crave case from Amazon for a fourth of the cost that has similar functionality, as a matter of fact. Works just the same as your costlier one, I bet. Guys, I'm thinking of picking this up but I have a question: Does it have that rear camera focus issue? My Pixel 3 has it, and from what I've seen online, there are a number of people who've the same experience.
The disadvantages are for people coming from flagship phones. People coming from very old phones won’t even notice any of this. The iPhone SE has wireless charging but has the worst battery ever, so idc about wireless charging. I’m coming from a iPhone 7 plus, and I actually want a smaller phone. And what’s funny is that because of these massive bezels, the pixel 4a has a bigger screen that the one I have on the 7 plus lol.
Hi can you compare pixel 4a pics with OP7t GCam pics? Using OP7t and seriously seeing to shift to PIXEL 4a for the awesome camera. But if OP7t with GCam is as good as pixel 4a, will better skip buying this.
Really torn, coming from Samsung and really want the pixel experience. Should I go with Pixel 4a, 4a5g, or the 5? Should I wait until black Friday for deals? My gut is saying waiting for a deal on the 5 but, that price of the 4a is really tempting.
I wish it was possible to fit something better than 730G while having this price tag. Maybe sacrifice something else. Then again I actually liked the Nexus lineup with its horrid build quality but fast chips.
Why do people keep talking about the wireless charging on iphone SE like it's this extra thing they threw in. You're getting wireless charging in the iPhone SE because it's like a 3 year old phone with updated specs. Also you basically have 4a xl will the 4a 5g. Idk what the price difference was between 3a and xl but imagine it's similar to the difference between 4a and 4a 5g.
Wireless charging is basically for people who leave their phones charging while they sleep. Both wireless charging and leaving it charge all night degrades the battery. You can't use the phone while it's charging wirelessly. Where's the convenience? Omg, you have to plug & unplug a wire! If that's too hard for you, you have issues.
I look at it that wireless charging these phones with 4500 mAh batteries is no longer worthwhile as you should easily get through a day. However, a 3000 mAh battery would benefit from small top-ups during the day, 10% here and there? In two years the Pixel 4a battery capacity will be around 2400 mAh so charging during the day will be essential.
Chelle Agree, if you do it wrong. However if you just do short top-ups of 15 minutes to get 10% or so and keep your phone cool then it conversely is better for your long term battery cycle count. If you charge to 100% using a wireless charger and do not keep it cool then it is the worse type of charging, as bad as fast charging. NB: 45 watt chargers can cause 3x loss of battery cycles compared to 15 watts if done wrongly. If you use fast chargers like 45 watts for quick top-ups, say 30% to 70% then that is not too bad especially if you keep your phone cool. I expect you know all this but there are provisos and I think wireless charging has its place if you do it efficiently.

Let's face it most ppl aren't going to use the 4a as a primary phone. Unless their on a budget or its a replacement for a stolen/broken phone. Most ppl will use this as a smaller phone because they already have a bigger one. An besides all the bad thing you mentioned was to cut down on cost!

Hi can you compare pixel 4a pics with OP7t GCam pics? Using OP7t and seriously seeing to shift to PIXEL 4a for the awesome camera. But if OP7t with GCam is as good as pixel 4a, will better skip buying this.
I wish 4a had an XL variant. I know Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5 might have bigger screen they aren’t going to be available in my country.
Really torn, coming from Samsung and really want the pixel experience. Should I go with Pixel 4a, 4a5g, or the 5? Should I wait until black Friday for deals? My gut is saying waiting for a deal on the 5 but, that price of the 4a is really tempting.
I know this reply is late, but just go with the 4A. Why spend a ton of money when you get a great phone for $350?
I'm looking at a refurbished 4XL, any opinions how 4a compares?
Why not talk about the high SAR?
Phone size option not given (4)th point. How come it is worst of P4A phone?
Wallpaper link please?
6th worst thing : No option to talk with aliens. Bad phone.
Bluetooth not working properly. Anybody experiencing similar problems?
Ahh yes. A reviewer with access to any phone. Changes phones regularly. A definite regular consumer....
I wish it was possible to fit something better than 730G while having this price tag. Maybe sacrifice something else. Then again I actually liked the Nexus lineup with its horrid build quality but fast chips.
A question that I and so many others have that you could answer so easily...WHAT ANDROID PHONES, NEW OR USED, WOULD YOU BUY IF YOU HAD $350 TO SPEND?
I would have blindly picked this phone if it had the 765g chip. Not their fault, but unlucky.
@@shatemp4126 Pixel 5 will not launch on India, nor the 4a 5G :( That's the saddest part.
4a 5G join the room.
Do you play games on your phone? If no it's almost the same CPU as 765G. So yeah not much of a difference.
@@PrabhuRPR who even told you that?
@@shatemp4126 check benchmarks and CPU structure. I think CPU performance is more or less the same.
no need Camera bump
The points mentioned as worse are just dragging the video!! Matlab kuch bhi!!!
how is wireless charging EVER going to be 'essential'? you're phone isn't plugged in, but the charger you're attaching the phone to is.
❤ from india🇮🇳
No performance complaint?
Your 5 bad things were a lazy excuse to shove dbrand into viewers' faces.
So... really good phone. Got it.
Some of these drawbacks are just being incompetent and nitpicks
Sooo the cons are not actually the cons...
Damn, transitions are not smooth, there are freezes.
Wireless charging being essential? Lol personallyi would want an sd card slot
One plus 7T revisited plzz...🤔🤔
Me watching this video on a 400$ phone with 90 Hz oled,SD 855+, stereo speaker, and all AVG quality lenses.Glass back too and a headphone jack.
Talk about value
Forgot about the 50W charger in the box
most probably realme x2 pro
And that comes with a shitty os🤣🤣🤣
You consider the back being made out of glass as an advantage? That throws your entire comment into doubt.
What is that phone @0.32
Note 20 ultra
the only bad thing for me is the chin. asymmetrical design bothers me so much. thankfully pixel 5 fixes that. definutely looking forward to it.
Wait what chin? I don’t see it
Revival the bottom bezel is not as small as the side and top bezel. that's what i meant by the chin. i like iphone's design with all around same sized bezels. unfortunately, i hate using ios.
Raditya Arga Putra oh I see it. But it’s barely noticeable. Atleast it’s not last years design .
Chelle the leaks so far shows no chin and it was mentioned they were using flexible screen so the screen was bent to make the bezels slimmer. i hope the leaks are correct but we'll see.
The shit audio you forgot, buzzy, static and hollow. Known issue for a long time. Still not fixed.
Is this guy left handed? Which most people aren't.
Let's face it most ppl aren't going to use the 4a as a primary phone. Unless their on a budget or its a replacement for a stolen/broken phone. Most ppl will use this as a smaller phone because they already have a bigger one. An besides all the bad thing you mentioned was to cut down on cost!
Yes
Don’t know what you’re talking about, most people use one cell phone. 4a is ideal for that
@@steviesevieria1868 Yes most ppl have 1 cell phone. But plenty of ppl have 2, their own personal phone and a work phone. Or they'll have a small phone and a phablet.
Nice keyboard anyway!
Wireless charging is a hype/ gimmick
Senseless what you want in $350
Cons are not so conniving !!!!
I love small phones
Who tf uses wireless charging these days? It's so damn slowwwwww!
Well... There is Pixel 4a 5g
Wr the fuck is ROG 3
Nothing but a average midranger nothing more.
@Cheems Burger Another overrated wannabe poor man's iPhone. Google Pixel products are insignificant on the Android market especially worldwide.
@Cheems Burger this guy does the same comment almost everywhere. I feel like he's just a bot.
@Cheems Burger He's saying the 4a is only a big deal cuz in the US you don't have many options, to begin with. It's not even available in half of the EU lol.
@Cheems Burger Yep, trolling - very sad
@Cheems Burger his name says it all
Wireless charging is a dumb gimmick anyway.
I've never had it...sister says they never use theirs with wireless chargers in their house...everywhere.
Nobody cares about telephoto camera.
