Thanks Mary! This was a good tutorial. For those who need to slow down the video. 1. Hit the 3 dots at the top right look for playback • Normal 2. Hit playback normal above normal will slow the video down: 75x, .5x & .25x. Selecting below normal will speed up the video playback. Hope this helps!
Just finished my moms hair using this method, she loves it. Thanks for the video. I kept snagging her hair using the hair crochet hook soooo I had a yarn needle and that worked better for me for hiding the plaits. Thanks again
i am watching to educate myself, I have 2 beautiful multiracial grandaughters and want to learn. i notice you braid under and i braid over does that matter at all. I know this sounds crazy but I honestly have never done anything but ponytails in their hair. i want to be a grandma that can do whatever they want to have done. they dont have the coursest hair but they have gotten it braided before with the synthetic. please forgive me for being so uneducated. ty
Aw as long as your trying, a girl on here called Nia monet had a very easy to follow faux loc tutorial that is very natural looking, hope this helps xx
You seem like a really good grandma. Honestly, there isn't much of a difference between overhand and underhand braids when they're off the scalp like this. When you braid to the scalp, like French braids or cornrows, overhand braids lay flat and are usually called French braids. Braiding underhand to the scalp causes the braids to be raised. This is sometimes called Dutch braiding, and it's used more often than overhand in cornrows and for a base for weaves. I really hope that this helps you.
I love this method cuts the time in half. I have to add hair to my hair to because my hair needs strength or it will just get loose and come down. Thanks for sharing 💜💙💛😘😍
This is gonna have me ready for summer like "who dat" 👀👀👀 never tried this before and your method has me feeling confident I can do it and it will be glorious! You're a great teacher and I cant wait to do my hair!!! Thank you for this fantastic content and instruction!! 💜💜💜
I will try this tomorrow .! I am doing my own but have so much hair really thick ! So I actually do three rows of individual and then for took the middle just easier and faster for me doing my self .! But I normally take braiding hair and wrap around to hide it because I could never find a good video .! And people always compliment still so I’m excited to see if this works for me .! Tonight I’m just filling up the Cornell’s and then I’ll tackle my individual tomorrow lol.!
Thank you for saying the color you used, I was about to buy this and can see now that the top would be darker than I thought. The pictures online don't show the top, only the bottom of the hair.
BEAUTIFULLY DONE!!! Wish you were here in Detroit so you can do my hair!! If you have someone to refer me to here that does them like you-Let me know! Just has crotchet locs, and it looked good at first, but the way it was done was TERRIBLE and difficult to take out!! 😬 -Tam6-
@6:00 🤔 okay I see now so if your hair is really short around 3 inches this method wouldn't work I wanted to do it this way but it looks like I'm going to have to do the crochet method.
chioma c they’re actually not hard to take down at all. You can actually reach in and feel the braid and unravel it. I’ve been getting these for years, never needed help, never had an issue. You can also just cut them out if you know where your braid ends.
This is a good method but I like to unwrap the hair slightly and wrap around . The crochet needle messes up the hair sometimes when you keep posing it through to pull the braid through it
@@ieshajohnson9274 I usually only do crotchet method. I can French braid decently but even when it’s not great I can still manage to make the overall style look good and presentable. Plus it’s the quickest method. If you can braid go for it.
I always experience the same issue. I usually have to do the rubber band method.. just make sure your hair is moisturized (to avoid breakage) before you add any rubber bands, if you choose to do so. 😘
Or if you want to save more time then braiding the hair you can part your hair in squares and put black rubber bands around each parted hair and chroche the Faux locks that way also! Braiding takes to long and it will take even longer putting the locks in!
Can someone show my slowly what exactly she did to secure that first install? Even when I slow it down I can’t see what her hands are doing, part of her hand is in the way. It looks lovely though!!
I put real aloe on my daughters hair for a hour with a plastic bag to cover before I wash it, then I deep condition it for 30 min, rinse that out, spray some leave in and use carol’s daughter blow out cream...keeps her hair good and moisturized without having to do much else but a little oil directly to her scalp and massaging her scalp before any hairstyle with add in hair...that aloe is everything...she has minimal shedding and the hair isn’t dry and damaged even 4-6 weeks later after I take it out. I think most braiders assume you moisturized and prepped your hair to your liking before you came. With as much as the labor and time costs for the style itself, might as well prep your scalp and hair before you get there.
if hair is properly moisturized during the washing process you shouldnt need much to braid the hair. I only put shea butter on my ends and oil my scalp when i do protective styles and nothing more....then once the braids are installed i mist my hair with aloe or a leave in every few days...and oil my scalp and thats it...i dont grease up my hair for a protective style...and i have really thick and long hair.
why didn't you comb her hair first? it looks like you sectioned it off while it was tangled and then didn't even untangle the section, just went into braiding it.
I'm late I know, but do you have to plait the hair first or can you use little rubber bands and then crochet. Cuz my hair is short in the back and I have straight fine textured hair and I don't think it will hold the hair without my plants coming out. Please tell me soon cause I'm taking out the braids I already have and I'm trying to do the locs myself
Disclaimer: Doesn't work for shorter natural hair that curls at the ends when you braid it 😥😥 unlesss you do smaller (thinner braids) and who has time for that
Helena Cox When you start to put the loc onto the braid, you have to loop the hair through the top of it first so it’s locked on. If you watch closely while she’s installing you’ll see it
It can even last for a year am a stylist in uganda and I have done it on so many clients and most of them last for a year others even longer it is good
Thanks Mary! This was a good tutorial.
For those who need to slow down the video.
1. Hit the 3 dots at the top right look for playback • Normal
2. Hit playback normal
above normal will slow the video down: 75x, .5x & .25x.

That’s sweet! It’s great you want to do that for them and learn.lucky grandkids :)
I love your lil hexagon / seashell parts....makes them look like real locks
Best method ever I definitely didn't wanna sit there and wrap the hair. Thank you so much for this video😊😊

Yup she just my type 😂😁
😆😆😆
I keep rewatching this and now I see where I’ve messed up when trying on myself. Definitely going to give it another try.
Where did you go wrong?
My hair won’t go through the loc at all 😭 to the point where the braid started unraveling
I absolutely love this method! It saves so much time and comes out just as natural as regular faux locs💕
This method is EVERYTHING TO MY LIFE❤❤❤❤❤❤
Yo I give you mad props. Just try to do though faux locs could not get it to save my life. You make it look so damn easy
Thank you for the tutorial. I'm not all that skilled at crocheting, but I tried this out and it came out beautifully!!
did your hair come out of it?
@@Nat86RN I've been wearing it for over a month now. The longer I keep it in the better it looks.

I love your voice it's not loud.but calm one can easily follow you
Great everything!! Details. .explaining it.. Style ...just everything love it!! Will try this💓💓💓💓
Thank you. This is one of the best method. I love it
Nicely done ☺️... but how do you take it down without unraveling the locs

How do you avoid the braided hair from slipping out the loc at the base? Also how did you hide the root of the braid so it's not seen at all?
Helena Cox the knot is just that big. No tricks
Can this be done on long hair
I hv slippery hair
How long can u keep this locs????
I think push the hair as you crotchet it’s
Perfect! Easy to learn from you ,❤❤❤❤
This is perfect! About to try it on my aunt. Great job!!!!!
Wonderful. Those locs look really soft. Approximately how many locs are there?
This is my favorite style
I currently have same hair with same color on
Excellent tutorial on this technique! The best I’ve seen thus far!
Remind me of my daughter when she was little always do her hair like this thanks for sharing with us
Such beautiful Hair. Amazing
What's the name of the locs please. Nice work I love it
I love this. Now I need to know if there is someone here in St Croix USVI that does these styles because I need to have my hair done, and how much?
Thank you, I've been looking for this video. Now I can do my own. thanks for sharing. looks really good.
Absolutely beautiful!!!! 💞 love love love it!!!
This is so dope, love this tutorial.
I love her hair!😍
This is beautiful
How do you take them down?
Good question, that's what I was wondering too
Thank you very much for this tutorial... I’ve been looking for this

Nicely done hunni.
@6:00 🤔 okay I see now so if your hair is really short around 3 inches this method wouldn't work I wanted to do it this way but it looks like I'm going to have to do the crochet method.
Just use braiding hair like she did for the individual braids
It's so beautiful and very clean. But I think it's going to be difficult to remove except if someone helps you.
chioma c they’re actually not hard to take down at all. You can actually reach in and feel the braid and unravel it. I’ve been getting these for years, never needed help, never had an issue. You can also just cut them out if you know where your braid ends.
These are beautiful. I like the ombré.
This is a good method but I like to unwrap the hair slightly and wrap around . The crochet needle messes up the hair sometimes when you keep posing it through to pull the braid through it
This tutorial is the best, thanks
I saw a method where they wrapped the natural braid around the crochet look and pull, the braid dissapeared into the loc.🤔 Gotta try
LaToya Boggans yeah this method is confusing and seems hard to take out
Where did u see that method?
I love this style 😍❤
I’m so trying this look very soon.😀
❤️❤️❤️Great tutorial!!!
Are u located in Chicago?
ReactionsWithNanaa - no but plan to visit for the holidays.
I can do this style for You!
🌀🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨
I’m definitely gone try this method
This exactly wat I needed thank you so much 🙏
I don’t see how y’all can do the pull through method I feel like it would add an extra 4-6 hours I just simply can’t do all that.
I’m doing mine right now and I have no idea how to conceal the braid I just can’t lol do you have any tips ??

Add textured hair when creating the besides.
I thought I heard her say add Marley hair.

You do a great job but You're not putting anything on the hair especially natural.. before protective styles the hair needs to be moisturized
Meh.. I hardly do it myself it doesn't ruin the braids. Also less build up from grease and dirt
BLAQ BEAUTY I was thinking that
It’s dry so it will break off
I put real aloe on my daughters hair for a hour with a plastic bag to cover before I wash it, then I deep condition it for 30 min, rinse that out, spray some leave in and use carol’s daughter blow out cream...keeps her hair good and moisturized without having to do much else but a little oil directly to her scalp and massaging her scalp before any hairstyle with add in hair...that aloe is everything...she has minimal shedding and the hair isn’t dry and damaged even 4-6 weeks later after I take it out. TheMochakiss8503 me too. It’s killing me. But I’m going to try again
Your work is always so clean! Greetings from New Jersey!
Ima Do This On My Locs 😍 Thank You 🙌🏾
You have had enough trial n error. Just wondering if it's best to pull the locs and the braid thru the hole or just the braid?
This is fye🔥🔥 and NATURAL looking ❤️❤️❤️it
Thank you so much for making it so easy for is to understand and God bless
why didn't you comb her hair first? it looks like you sectioned it off while it was tangled and then didn't even untangle the section, just went into braiding it.
Exactly
Going to try this!! Thank you!
Thanks for this great video, super helpful and it looks amazing!

JaDedby88 my hair is the same way you may just have to add hair to make the braid longer, like she did in the vid.
Had to blow dry my natural hair straight to do mine cause I had the same issue
How many locs did you put in her head?
I’m new and love the intro❤️
How many packs of hair did you use?

Love it 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍love the amber vibe super cute and nice!!!!!!!
You go too fast on that loop to braid knot. I couldn't see exactly what you did.
I know right- lol
that’s what the pause button is for.
You can actually slow down the playback speed.
You are good girl, what a technic thank you
It’s between you and God took me out 🤣🤣🤣
I'm trying this on my sister today.
Ok probably a stupid question, but if I crochet my real into crochet hair, how do I get it out, when I take the hair out lol
I like this hairstyle
Can u do a video about taking it down??

Hi I have one question how do you take it out?
Awesome 👍🏾👍🏾
It didn’t go well for me but ima try it again. My hook was getting tangled in the dread
Really Nice 👍
Great tutorial😍❤😍
Who sang the song @ the end?
😍😍😍 I love this method!
Great Job thanks for sharing video❤
How do you avoid her hair from slipping out from the roots? ALOT of people complain of that and I can't figure out how to stop it.
Use braiding hair
Helena Cox
When you start to put the loc onto the braid, you have to loop the hair through the top of it first so it’s locked on. If you watch closely while she’s installing you’ll see it
@@JayJones-eg2lz Ive used marley hair to braid but it makes it stiff. Any way to make it not stiff?
@@hiimjai6064 Not that. I'm talking about your real hair slipping out the loc but still attached.
Helena Cox I think she did say to use Marley hair, but I think any hair that’s a little more course and not as slippery should work.
Will your natural hair start sticking out?
That’s why it’s good to use braiding gel on the natural hair as you braid it before you add the faux locs. Minimizes fly always and hair sticking thru
Nicely done 😍🥰
Thanks I really learn today
How long do this style last ???
It can even last for a year am a stylist in uganda and I have done it on so many clients and most of them last for a year others even longer it is good
emmy jank fr? That’s really good. But how is the hair after u undo it? It isn’t matted and stuff?
@@kalixxx88 You can take the actual locs out and wash the braids then put the locs back in
last part killed me her humour
Are you able to put it in a back bun and back pony tail ? 💕
She has a lot of hair!
The only thing hard for me is that i need to learn on my clients hair doing the parts like you have it
Question I hope someone can answer. Why do they add hair to there hair????
I've done it without additional hair.
I will try this. Thank you
How do you take it out ?
Anne Jean you don’t 😭😭 I would say cut your hair at the end of the braids that’s inside the dread then unravel it then try to cut the knot
