This was the first Megaman game that I played and at first playthrough it felt super hard. I only started diving into the oldschool back then, I heard that those games were hardcore. When I played actual Megaman games, this one felt too easy compared to MM1 and MM2. Old school is the best school, and if you want hardcore - play Ghosts and Goblins, that game puts Dark Souls to shame
The real hard aspect of this game comes from the bosses. Even with their weakness, some of them can wipe the floor with you if you're not prepared. So while I do agree that Mega Man 1 and 2 are harder, this game definitely has harder bosses.
This game makes Mega Man a lot more powerful, being able to not only copy Robot Master abilities, but also ANYTHING ELSE HE DEFEATS!
