Apparently, the Sea Stallion had an oil pressure warning. The pilot opted to land as a precaution to prevent any cascade that could be fatal. In peace, no reason to take unnessesary risks.
April 15, 2015 - A U.S. Marine helicopter made an emergency landing on a beach in north San Diego Wednesday after receiving a low oil pressure indicator, U.S. Marine Corps officials confirmed. San Diego lifeguards reported that a CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter had landed near Del Mar Shores Beach in Solana Beach, south of Fletcher Cove, at around 11:40 a.m.
I know the back story to this event, I am just curious did they just flat out land or did they give some type of advanced warning that they were going to land to make sure people on the beach cleared the area out??
Pilot found a clear spot and set down. No way of knowing mid flight if the caution light was wrong or could cause engine failure in the next few minutes. If there was enough time to wait for ATC for pick up the phone and call local authorities and wait for them to drive out to the beach and start clearing out people he probably could have made it back to the airport.
No get the fuck out of the way pay attention like what do you expect them to do get on a bullhorn and shout? You can’t hear of see that you have bigger problems lmao

An emergency landing is simply when the pilot declares an emergency for any reason. The pilot has wide discretion to declare it and will almost never be punished for doing so unless it is clear they did it for selfish/improper reasons like trying to get to the front of a line of air traffic. The pilot can declare an emergency at the first sign of almost any trouble which requires a landing any sooner than could be accommodated under normal conditions. In other words, an emergency landing is a landing that takes place once the pilot has declared an emergency, for any reason.
Its not a horn, they use it for aerial refueling (sorry if i write it wrong, its air to air refueling or something like that, i don't know how u call it)
None, they’re made for that. And 99.999% of the “kicked up sand” actually gets pushed out and away from the Helo due to the ‘down and out’ effect of the prop wash from the rotors.
They did an emergency landing on the beach do to a low oil pressure indicator light. There was a oil leak in the tail section. They did a quick repair to get it off the beach and flew it to the near by fair grounds for a more in depth inspection.
you clearly have no idea what you are talking about if emergency only means auto rotation....oil problems, any of the 3 engines, medical, fuel problem, etc all are emergency landings.
Right place at the right time. Well filmed. I wish I could find as good a video of the post-repair takeoff.

I think that is absolutly normal landing (maybe training) because helicopter not landing in autorotation mode (if 2 engines fail), 2 engines was work
