Same for me. I played that game over and over. The Japanese aspect really brought the game to life to me since there was nothing dramatic Japanese related in Americas mainstream game market other than JRPGs which not a lot of people played initially.
Ah man, you hit me right in the childhood with this one, Jack. My oldest friend and I used to act out the Omaha beach scene in 2002 (we were 10) in my garden where there was a gate resembling the one on the front end of the Higgins boats, and we would "reenact" the landing sequence over, and over, and over again. Sounds random as hell now, but it just goes to show how visceral that scene felt to you if you were a kid or, I imagine, anyone playing the game back in that day.
Cobus Greyling Lmao. I had spent the same kind of childhood. We had some short of forest behind of our neighborhood to play with, and that game was our inspiration. Playing that game on Lan was such a good memory for us... so, just after playing some, we would go there, take some "guns", make two teams and revive the fights lol. Even the neighborhood ended up being the "Rammel/Britain" map lel
All time favorite game. Got me into WWII and first person shooters. Recently installed this and played the whole game including Breakthrough and Spearhead! Thank you Jack for the flashback
Oh man, thanks for reminding me of that. You just brought back some great memories I have of when I used to play it co-op with my step father when I was younger.
This is my favourite MOH. And all the expansions were AWESOME The later missions on the base game were genuinely difficult too, something that feels lost. No special bosses needed but clever level design and enemy placement with new features (gas mask) that you had to deal with.
People still play it if you can believe it. I tried the other day but my ping was terrible. I had so much fun with this game back in the day, all the custom maps and skins, mods, etc. So good.
Customs skins indeed! Played multiplayer for ages! In the end there were only polish and egyptian people online :) got really good as well over all those years. Hop on some free for all with 16 people in stalingrad with a bolt action mauser, and go 50 - 5 In 10 minutes
Wow Jack. Thanks for reviewing man! So many great memories ! These games actually paved the way for me to study dozens of autobiographies and novels of ww2. I almost cried watching this.
Manuel bolanos I loved elements of airborne, for example the weapon progression. However the time to kill bothered me here and there, particularly towards the end of the game w the "heavy" enemies
Keith Anello the weapon progression was awesome but the heavy enemies were testy but the whole game was well done I think operation husky and Neptune were my favorite
Was fighting the tears back while watching this. My brother passed away over a year ago and he introduced me to this game back when it was released. I was remembering how we stayed up all night playing this game having fun trying to finish the campaign and never getting tired of playing it. Thank you for sharing this Jack and bringing back some good memories!
Jack, I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to see you talk about this game. I’m 25 now and this was one of the first shooters I ever played. I loved everything about it & it helped fuel my passion for gaming all the way to this day!
Rain Rainers lol same, he would play with my uncle and we would sit and watch even sometimes get our toy guns and pretend we were helping him. now I play it using Mohaa revival
Thank you for highlighting this game Jack. It has a special place in my heart as the game that got me into multiplayer and was an incredible game in general
Joe Wuh-Puh the level where you parachute in, get a sniper rifle, and just run around sniping everybody and take out mortar crews... man, I played that level over and over and over and over! Such great music throughout frontline as well. Also Arnhem was an incredible map. So good
about the graphics I actually remember my mum being horrified as she saw me playing it and sniping german soldiers in normandie. Amazing game and I was in love with the M1 Garand. Thanks for that nostalgic episode Jack
RTCW...best game ever made on the quake engine. So far ahead of its time with map layouts and proper team based objective play. A reboot of this with today's tech would be amazing!
could not agree with you more. this game was a blast back on those days and i played the hell out of it as well. really nice that you bring back that nostalgia, thanks jack.
Same! I don't think any other game got me wasting so much time behind a computer. The hours I spent playing this, creating mods and maps... damn it was such an amazing game for its time.
Andrew Kaminskas sameeeeeee. Incredible game, INCREDIBLE MUSIC. I remember launching the V2 rockets at the very end of the game against the nazi base, and all the nazi scientists are banging on the glass haha. I remember thinking at the time how cool it was that the enemy could throw grenades back at you! Also the BAR in this game was beast.
Wow Jack. Thanks for reviewing man! So many great memories ! These games actually paved the way for me to study dozens of autobiographies and novels of ww2. I almost cried watching this.
I remember my friend had this and then not long after I got it. I was 12 at the time. We were big on ww2 stuff and we were blown away with the omaha beach level. The fact you saw soldiers cowering behind obstacles was amazing for the time. Played it recently and the enemies in it must have had aimbot as I forgot how challenging it was. Great game. The is for the nostalgia. More like this please jack.
SebaCod Py all 3 is free with mohaa revival it basically is a fix for multiplayer so you can find servers. lots of servers on both mohaa and mohaab and a good number of people playing
This was one of the first PC games I ever played. I didn't have a PC at the time, so I played it on my friend's PC. It was amazing! He had a massive sound system hooked up to it, and playing Omaha Beach on it was actually one of the best feelings EVER. The only drawback, was that he had some weird mouse with a massive ball you had to use to move, instead of a normal mouse. All in all, a most awesome experience!
The Ostruppen from the Easter Front was called back to the Western Front and they took the PPSH as a souvenir or they thought its a great weapon. Most of the Ostruppen was deployed at the beaches of Normandy
because back then the idea was that 90% of the german army had MP40s and 9% MG42s and 1% K98ks. these days its changed and it quite nice to see games like call of duty ww2 adding guns like the PPSH and the SVT-40 to the western front to alteast acknowledge the fact that souvenir guns were carried from the east to the west front.
Favourite game off all time. Played the multiplayer for 6 years, 3 maps on objective realism. That's all. Best gaming experience, was part of one of the best european clan at the time [.] Amazing game at the time.
Medal Of Honor: Allied Assault - The one and only... M1 Garand, StG 44, Thompson ... Such an incredible game. I've spent countless hours on it, still remember the maps clearly to this day.
This was the game that got me into FPS games that I'm still playing at the age of 35! Multiplayer was amazing fun and made some good friends. Played for GFK clan on clan base. Great times
MOHAA was one of the first FPS games that was introduced to me by my friend. I still remember playing the campaign in different difficulties and trying out the multiplayer portion. So simple and so good.
I remember playing this game when I was 2 or 3 and I LOVED it I've been trying to figure out the name for the game for a while now and now I've found it 14 years and I haven't played this game I wanna play it again but can't well i can certainly agree that this will remain as one of the greatest games I've ever played.
Medal of Honor was one of the best WWII franchises I’ve ever played. Allied assault, vanguard, MOH hero’s 2, and rising sun. Honestly the memories are so fond it feels like just yesterday.
12 years back, my pals and I too used to call this MOHAA. Stalingrad, Algiers, Remagen, Destroyed village, so much fun. We still play this when we meet up after years.
We share a similar story Jack, I'll never forget this game, thank you for making a video on it, it's like being back in my teenager years all over again!
This game was so memorable for me. The online play was so savage. I remember going 50-0 in free for all with the Thompson on Stalingrad. I played for a top tier team when the game was popular. All of the top tier players pretty much used Snipers and Shotguns. What a classical masterpiece.
Thanks for the walk down memory lane. MOHAA and MOHSH were the best FPS games I have ever played. They were my first FPS games, the first time I was in a clan and the first time I played a game for $$$. I remember making some nice coin ( at least for that time ) playing in the TWL Ladder matches. Then came the hackers and because there was no Anti-Cheat back then if a hacker was on you were screwed unless you owned the server and had admin rights and could kick them. Then they came out with reverend that was a Anti-Cheat program and that helped some but it was really taxing on most peoples systems to run the game and it at the same time. Such a great game with so many wonderful memories of the guys and girls I played with. Long live BDB, miss you guys!!!!
AMAZING! Jack, I love what you do. Thank you for the throw back, I remember this game like I was playing it yesterday. Also I had no idea that was Spielberg had a hand in the making. Awesome fun fact.
Ohhhhh the memories. Me toting my Pc over to my friends house on the weekends to play this over LAN. The sniper battles in - those sniper towns - can't remember their names... Epic memories.
Amazing game. A game changer. Played the multiplayer for years in multiple teams via clan base.. if anyone remembers that. The formative years of competitive multiplayer.
My first game was Medal Of Honor Front line on the Gamecube. I was 4 lol. Been kicking ass since then. Thank you for this throw back. Rising Sun was also amazing.
MoHAA was the first FPS I ever played. I think I was still in elementary school. I still remember when we got a graphics card for our PC and how blown away I was when I turned the graphics settings all the way up. I thought it was the most beautiful looking game ever, lol. Many fond hours of my childhood were spent playing this game!

I loved that you could play with bots on multiplayer/splitscreen
Ah man, you hit me right in the childhood with this one, Jack.
My oldest friend and I used to act out the Omaha beach scene in 2002 (we were 10) in my garden where there was a gate resembling the one on the front end of the Higgins boats, and we would "reenact" the landing sequence over, and over, and over again.

This game and rising sun were the best medal of honour games.
Trippy Fool frontlines was gooooood too
Never heard of that.
Oh man, thanks for reminding me of that. You just brought back some great memories I have of when I used to play it co-op with my step father when I was younger.

Tigeeer made me tear up a little
This is my favourite MOH. And all the expansions were AWESOME
The later missions on the base game were genuinely difficult too, something that feels lost. No special bosses needed but clever level design and enemy placement with new features (gas mask) that you had to deal with.
Clearing that final map on hard, was such a pain... but yet so wonderful lol

TR_AtaOzd airborne was such an amazing game
Yeah, airborne was much better than its rating will show. Loved every minute of playing it.
Manuel bolanos I loved elements of airborne, for example the weapon progression. However the time to kill bothered me here and there, particularly towards the end of the game w the "heavy" enemies
I mostly played MP so that never really bothered me, even though i finished the campaign.
Keith Anello the weapon progression was awesome but the heavy enemies were testy but the whole game was well done I think operation husky and Neptune were my favorite
I remember playing COD2, BF1942 and Rising Sun all the time as kid, good memories

Thanks for taking me back! I also really enjoyed “freeze tag objective”, which was a mod for multiplayer.
Medal of honor and war fighter were the best campaigns of ever played. Some really insane missions
