I worked for Jim Wise at the DP for 6 years while I went to college. I cherish my time there. Spent many hours behind the grill on First Monday’s. It is a great place with a commitment to quality food.
I dread the first weekend of the month, when the wife inevitably says “we’re going to Canton” and I know I’m going to have to walk all day and spend money. I only do it in exchange for stopping at Dairy Palace.
I haven’t been to Canton in about 54 years! At that time it sparsely covered ONE block! We didn’t go there to go to the Trade Days, my dad had cousins that lived there so that’s why we went, and they mentioned Trade Days and my dad decided he’d like to go, so we went. It was nothing special really. By that time I lived in California and we had a swap meet in the town we lived in at the drive in theater, where one could find just about anything. I have been to McKinney First Monday a few times and saw it grow quite large and had to move to a new location. If I was 40 years younger I’d happily go back to Canton! 😂
It's definitely a fife & knork kind of burger at Dairy Palace. I got my mords wixed. I got my tang all tongueled up around my eye teeth, and I couldn't see what I was saying.
DO NOT put ketchup on a Corny Dog!! You will be flagged and could be arrested for insulting the essence of a Corny Dog! Go mustard baby!! Love that story of the 2 couples who swapped wives. Only in Texas!!!
The kickin mule went under. No longer in business. The manority of this was based around first monday which is exactly why we locals hate first monday. I stay away from canton on those weekends because rude out of towners take over and are very disrespectful on the roads. I wish he would have spent more time focusing on the small businesses in the area rather than just 2 attractions
Have you ever done a show on Denton” met you in ft.worth @ Rudy’s Would ❤ to see a show about Denton, so much history & a fun town! Love your show. Rock on Day tripper! 😎
it is so depressing to know that I hardly see in Portland Oregon has this kind of scenery anymore. bargain hunting? obsolete. People here barely can put a roof above their heads. relaxation for Thrift shopping? GONE. but the PNW is usually depressing. lol or says, always have been. LOL
Worked at The Fresh Lemonade Store for almost 20yrs! My daughter worked there when I left. I have a lot of love for this place.
We got the best dog we ever had in Canton. A beautiful Dalmatian had a long life and my son’s best friend for life!
Loved the added pancake. 😂🤣😂
The walking at trade days is crazy. But its worth it. Nothing like it anywhere.

Great episode as always! Thanks guys!!!
Yes Chet All Mustard!!! On the Corny Dog
You should have gone to Canton Grand Safari Adventure. Your kids would have loved the baby monkey interaction.
Dairy Palace is a must.
I haven’t been there in years. I’m happy to know it still exists. Their onion rings are to die for. They’re deadly, but worth it.
Please come to Gun Barrel City, the car wash capital of the world...review our fine dining. Chili's and the Jalapeno Tree. 😃
Should have checked out dog alley, the mountain, & Stanleys BBQ. also Brew & Q. thank you for another great video, always informative.
Been to Rocky Ridge a few times now. It is one of the best.
I ❤ dog alley at First Monday. 😊 Corn dogs are better than the Texas State Fair. 😋

Lived here 13&1/2 yrs. Thanks for bringing back the memories!
We’re in Canton now. Dairy Palace is still great. The Kickin Mule is closed now.
You're such goofball, and I'm so here for it! 🤣
The pancake delivery was excellent!!!

Dear Daytripper, the `t` in Canton is silent ? Later in your video you pronounce it. Anyway, great documentary as all you marvellous Texas videos are.
I'm 70 years old, and have never been to Canton!
hey my boyfriend is in your video! thats really cool

It’s no big deal. A much worse thing is when people put soy sauce on the rice at a Chinese restaurant
Had to pause 11:17 and applaud 👏 his joke - LaBronzed 🤣 🤣
Just went to Trade Days and the Kicking Mule was out of business. So sad.
The kickin mule is fantastic place to eat!

Glory, honor, peace.
I don't know how you can eat so much and still keep healthy.
Van Zandt county named after Townes Van Zandt's great x3 grandpa. How Texas can you get?
Thanks Chet for acknowledging that ketchup is indeed the inferior condiment
Good Job!
Now I want to go and try those ribs.
Ketchup is the devil......Chet how are you not 600 lbs lol
Do you show on a Texas map where these places are?
Heck, I don't put ketchup on anything because I don't like it...period.

That County Courthouse is the ugliest in the State of Texas. What drugs were they taking.
