Him and Ace Frehley. You think Keith's laugh was hilarious, you should hear how Ace Frehley cracked himself up silly with Gene Simmons getting annoyed by his laugh on a 1979 segment of the Tomorrow show with Tom Snyder.
People write about The Who hating each other but they were like a bunch of troubled brothers really. The sense of loss was strong when both Keith and John died.
Pete got along with John and Keith, but not so much with Roger. They all annoyed each other to a degree, but that happens with every band including mine
I think his comments about Keith get overblown. I think he’s still bitter about it & he’s still angry at Keith for not getting help sooner. He went into a dark downward spiral after Keith died, but at the same time, Keith’s death & his emotional recovery helped him to move on with his life & leave a dark period behind. He loved Keith, but Keith was impeding his musical & personal development
@Stanly Stud It’s not BS. Keith was a wonderful guy, but where he was at the end of his life was literally holding back all of The Who, especially Townshend.
@@mrskinszszsWho Are You would’ve been another tremendous album has Keith not already been so far gone. That’s the point. Where he was at the end was holding them back, not him in general. Not even gonna dignify that second claim with a response.
@allbottledup9513 the song writing for the most part was weak. And you don't have to, the truth speaks for itself. Name a classic album after Moon died, or anything that comes remotely close. I'll wait.
It's always nice to see the guys in the Who having tender moments with eachother. I understand that Pete and Roger have grown closer since John's death
He couldn't have been easy to be around (i've read), but I've loved Keith since I was 12 and just learning to play the drums. The clown who cries when no one's looking. Poor soul.
Roger was a working class guy, the Who for him was as much a way out of poverty and obscurity as it was a band. Pete and John were not that. They weren't "toughs" from the rough neighborhoods of industrial England. Pete in particular was the inquisitive, insightful, sensitive artiste. And John had a side of him that was like that as well. Keith was sort of this crazy goofball, probably a bit insecure, that just wanted to find a place where he could be his crazy self.
Can't imagine where he'd have found another such place if not for the kit. Demolition crew? I guess he was that too, but that was more hobby than occupation. Enormously expensive hobby...
As a black man,I love the WHO,so whenever I see this clip of PETE TOWNSHEND telling a true, funny story about his possible hearing loss and KEITH MOON laughing,it brings a smile to my face.
Because Keith blew up Pete's hearing on the smothers bros with his exploding drum set because one of the roadies packed a little to much explosives in the kit
@jaqua524 Pete says he went with Bill Curbishly to the doctor to get his ears tested, and Keith is saying "Terrible, terrible ears," laughing about it. The doctor said Townshend's hearing is damaged and Curbishly asked the doctor if Pete should give up, and throw his career out the window. The doctor suggested learning to lip read, and that's what Keith is laughing at in the video.
what i found sad about this video, is that pete and keith are/were the same age, and yet, while pete looks so young and alive in this video, Keith looks so, aged, and sickly. While he remains one of the best rock drummers of this era, and best characters ever to be thrown in front of the media, to see him, but a few years before his death is... sad. It reminds me of how much greater he could have been, had he been able to hold his shit together
Despite the seriousness of the conversation (there was major concern at this time that Pete was dangerously close to losing his hearing), they can easily make jokes and laugh about the whole situation. A very touching and candid moment, caught for all of us to see.
Just a fun, candid moment between them after what must have been a grueling rehearsal for Keith (we see them doing "Barbara Ann", but they also did "I Saw Her Standing There", with Keith also singing lead there...can someone post that?).
@DrewsAnimation: That incident was when the Who played the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour in 1967. Judging by how they both look here, I'd say this was sometime in 1977, about a year before Keith passed on, and a decade of course into Pete's hearing problems.
Tu parles très bien français ! Il y a just quelques petites fautes mais les explications sont très claires ! La video est vraiment très drôle ! Hahahahah ! Very funny !
i've always wondered if this laugh came out of him the same when he was in the early years of the who... i mean like when keith was aged between 17 to say 23, if he laughed like this too .... that laugh and the way he looked back then just don't add up it boggles me o.o... but his voice pretty much was the same throughout his adult years well that is when he wasn't putting on an accent ..... love him x)
This clip about Pete and keith laughing about Pete's hearing loss is funny, but what makes it even funnier is that KEITH was.largely responsible for Pete's hearing loss(Smothers Brothers tv show 1967)🤣🤣🤣
Seriously though folks, Pete's hearing was pretty fucked up, my advice to the lads is that next time you plant a bomb in the drum kit, give your lead guitarist fair warning.
@almargakira I know this is an old post, but if you haven't seen it, "The Kids Are Alright" is an EXCELLENT movie, possibly the best rock film out there. You'll enjoy every moment of it.
That's some really funny shit, but sadly, quite true. Pete Townsend's ears are worse than Keith Richards' blood... but either way, that's Rock and Roll.
So it's no wonder they clashed with Roger. They probably thought Roger was a brute who didn't understand their humor, their art, or them, and felt that he was to some degree just muscling his way into the band; maybe Pete even felt Roger was using him, appropriating his artistic vision to make a career for himself. Roger probably thought they were arrogant, pretentious, "art freak" type wimps. Hell, they'd kicked Roger out of the band and only brought him back because My Generation became a hit.
Keith Moon has honest to god the funniest most contagious laugh i have ever heard
Autore che contagiato Jimmy grazie a lui si chiameranno led Zeppelin
He really does! I love it! 😆
OMG right?!!? I literally cannot watch him without a smile on my face, if not outright laughing myself. Ahhh, such an irreplaceable one-off.🥁❤
I wonder if he laughed hysterically after he broke his wife's nose. Three times, apparently.
Him and Ace Frehley. You think Keith's laugh was hilarious, you should hear how Ace Frehley cracked himself up silly with Gene Simmons getting annoyed by his laugh on a 1979 segment of the Tomorrow show with Tom Snyder.

Because the sick f--s are more interested in making money regardless of the truth. Karma for these f--s
Pete got along with John and Keith, but not so much with Roger. They all annoyed each other to a degree, but that happens with every band including mine
Ppl tend to forget alot of these guys aren't friends they are co workers
That is friendship.
Regardless of what Townsend says now... he loved and misses his friend very much. It's obvious, their connection was tremendous.
I think his comments about Keith get overblown. I think he’s still bitter about it & he’s still angry at Keith for not getting help sooner. I like the fact that they are regular human beings talking and having fun.
I love how Keith paused before cracking up.
i fall in love with Keith Moon AND Pete Townsend every time i see this clip.
Pretty hard to resist, for sure.
Their both so cute, I too love the laugh, Pete has the most beautiful eyes
They're*
Ok simp.
No sad man behind them in this priceless clip! True, they're a beautiful blue.
Prime example of Pete and Keith's chemistry.
Keith was always like a little brother to Pete.
To all of them...
But it’s true

His laugh is adorable 😂
He is adorable personified...along with countless other adjectives.
One of the best film clips of all time. Will never forget it. A brief slice of a bygone era. :-(

I've been listening and/or watching this clip in one form or another for decades now, and never get sick of it. :-D
Nice to know I'm not alone.
@@questioneverything-rf3yf Me too. I had The Kids Are Alright on VHS when I was a kid - I actually wore the tape out watching it.
His Bill Curbishley impression is hilarious
Thank you! I never knew who they were rippin on here👍
Pete has a great John Cleese voice.
The energy between Keith and Pete could create fusion...A rare combo in rock
This is the best thirty seconds in “Kids Are Alright” in my opinion.
Keith and Ringo's bits were also great
If you've ever heard Bill Curbishley, their manager, interviewed, you'd know that Pete's imitation -- "Frow his career out the window" -- is dead on.
I mean Keith said that part specifically first here but I guess you are saying Pete’s impression was better
lol how Keith looked at Pete in the end and just started to laugh :D
I have rewound this section of Kids Are Alright over and over just to enjoy this interaction. It's very charming and funny.
Pete and Keith were seriously funny .. I would love to hear a boxset of them getting drunk together! There's a Derek and Clive quality there.
That would be comic gold.
Keith moon was awesome. God I wish he were alive today!
0:17 Throw his career out the window, become a pauper, STARVE!
LOL
Best R & R drummer ever and the incredible musician/composer genius have a chat!
The swapping of humor amongst two geniuses, for sure.
keith's laugh is the best omfg
Yes, you do. :-) The Kids Are Alright is one of the best rockumentaries ever.
great footage... wish Pete knew this existed.
He probably does. It was in their film, " The Kids Are Alright ".
I fall in love with Pete Townshend every time I see this clip.
That is the PERFECT video of two drunk band mates chatting!

'Terrible Ears!!' Funny as hell

Because Keith blew up Pete's hearing on the smothers bros with his exploding drum set because one of the roadies packed a little to much explosives in the kit

It's a Monty Python skit.
Like maybe Vince Snetterton-Lewis & Luigi Vercotti from The Piranha Brothers.
This took place after Pete Townsend went 80 percent def from Keith moon filling his base drum with fireworks in one of their shows.
Hanging out with that lot was something between the Goons and Monty Python 😂 Happy days.
