Can't wait! First one is honestly one of the best games I've ever played. Combat, platforming, secrets, progression, all 10/10. Be sure to hit up that do-jo to so learn some of the more advanced moves, like canceling the animation of your combo with a dodge, to really spice up the combat. The only critique I have is that the humor is occasionally too try-hard; lots of lazy references to memes and other indie games.
I rarely finish metroidvania games, but the first game was really good and one of the few I managed to play to the end. I highly recommend playing that one too if it's on your backlog or just pick it up when it goes stupidly cheap on a sale.

The only flaw of this game is the skill tree, the game is not balanced. For example, I unlocked all the skills before the last temple, playing normally.. I didn't backtracking too much after upgrades or anything. Then, after finishing the temple the game basically gave 25k gold for free, there are many sections you play on god mode that gives you tons of gold without any effort. The amount of gold and the skill tree needs a rework. Metroidvanias suffers from the same issues of many rpgs, the chraracter gets too strong too fast. I will play hollow knight to see if this game got rid of those issues.
There was plenty enough content in the 1st base game, yet it still made me a little mad when it came out again and again with a Super, Turbo, Championship, and Super Mega Turbo Ultimate Extreme Ultra DX Championship Edition and whatnot. So I'll wait.
I hope it's totally ruined by horrible unfair boss fights like the first one! I could never beat the god damned final boss, what a bittersweet experience for me.
Loved the first game, absolutely detest this one, it's way way way too fucking hard, the controls are so convoluted, so overcooked, so dependant on being completely and utterly precise, often needing you to press and use 6 different buttons, in a time frame that is almost impossible, while being distracted by 5 on screen enemies, and if you forget or fail to get one of the button presses correct, it's right back to the beginning of the segment. Not to mention the fact that there is an ever so slight delay in the control pads reaction times, between button presses which is enough to regularly mean that during one of these precise button marathons, even though you've pressed the correct button, it fails to register and ends in your death and having to start over. It's not fun, it's not charming, it's quite possibly one of the most frustrating games i have ever played, if not THE most frustrating. I've never swore and cursed as much in my life, never gotten this angry, I've broken one of my expensive joypads because of the amount of pressure you need to apply to the mushroom pads during these god awful puzzle sections, I absolutely hate the fucking thing. If they bring out a 3rd game, I for one won't be buying it. There's making games challenging and then there's this, taking the utter piss.

I'm so disappointed they didn't release it on the Vita. The first was one of my favorites on the system.
It's not really the developer's fault. Sony recently ceased all production of the console.

I think the lighting effects and use of PS4’s power would make it difficult to reduce for vitas hardware
