I have no interest in Mega Man or plan to, however I am a fan of many Capcom series and glad Capcom are giving fans more what they're after. Glad it's a solid game for fans-sake unlike that Mighty No.9, and with any luck they may revisit Legends for those still hopeful for a conclusion.
Bobby May Cry what Capcom games do you like? If you ever want to get into Megaman, play Mega man X(1) for the SNES. If you are into platformer or action games it is a must-play imo
It would be a long list so better for me to put "most" Capcom IPs, main ones being Devil May Cry, Monster Hunter, Strider, and Resident Evil. Nice suggestion for those interested, but I have tried Mega Man, that's why I know my personal interest is non-existent. The ones I played was the original Mega Man X on Super Nintendo which I beat once with a few friends who also didn't fall in love with the game. And I want to say Mega Man 8? . . It's a PSOne game, so a fan would know better than me. Played a few times but never got around to finishing the game even once. Nothing largely against either, we just all have our preferences. And while I like platformers, I get my kicks elsewhere.

Honestly, I'd rather them reboot the series. Remake Maverick Hunter X and then progress from there. Though, I guess I wouldn't mind if they started to progress towards the Zero series, with the construction of Neo Arcadia and the start of the Elf Wars or something. Though that honestly might be worthy of being its own series.
The gear system seems cool. Kind of reminds me of X5's obtainable perks. Not saying 9 or 10 are artistically bad but I'm glad to see this iteration isn't using the 8 bit (or 16 bit I could I be wrong) look of Mega Man classic and actually had the graphics engine made to bring the art style up to date as well as keeping it as faithful to the past games as much as it could.
I'm convinced there's a conspiracy going on regarding comments about the music. Why do so many reviews say it isn't good? It's quite nice. I think one person didn't like the music, and some other reviewers looked over their reviews for content and then said the same thing...because I rarely hear the same thing said so much the same way about any game. As for me, I love the music!
I get a very WayForward vibe from MM11 (particularly its music), which isn't necessarily a bad thing but at the same time doesn't feel very true to the previous entries. I look forward to giving it a try nonetheless.
"Sigh" this is what'd hoped the mighty number 9 would have looked like aestheticly. This game looks excellent, which is good but this just goes to remind myself of the mistake that was mighty number 9. I suppose that it might have served as a catalyst for this game so perhaps one could say that fans win in the end.

I'm glad I came here after watching that painfully bad IGN review...
I’m perpetually frustrated when game difficulty is treated like a negative or a bizarre fetish instead of one of the core pillars of game design. Games used to be SOLD on challenge. The original Zelda says challenge on the box like 4 times. I get that gaming has since changed to accommodate more people who just want to watch TV, but it’s still,a core concept of gaming. A lot of newer gamers don’t know they like challenge because the games media is always trying to crap on it.
You're 100% on the money, we live in an age where gamers want instant gratification and the second they get challenged with something that requires actual skill and effort, they give up.
Man seeing these classic franchises that i grew up with still being amazing in this current generation just brings a tear to my eye very well written review ben!
Great review as always Jones! Plz tell me there isn’t a part where we have to face all the bosses over again at once. I can already see me throwing my controller.
I'll be playing this tonight when it unlokcks on my PS4 Pro. I'm huge fan of the series but I'm a bit sad that you guys found the music to be underwhelming. The music in these games is a big part of what keeps us nodding our heads and tapping our feet in joy while we die ten times in ten minutes. I guess I'll have to judge for myself tonight. Good review.
The wily stages are supposed to be scary and bland. They are not supposed to be full of personality like the robot masters. Also, the music in this game is highly subjective. I personally love it, and I've been listening to the soundtrack no stop
The music thing is so wierd. Did they get a whole new audio team? That's not the catchy MegaMan music I'm used to. Ironically, the music was one of the only good things about Mighty No.9. They're like, completely opposite games (I actually also liked the story in MN9, so it seems like WAY more than a coincidence).
Sounds good but I have major concerns with the asking price. These games are typically 2 or 3 hours in length....and they want $40.00. That's an expensive movie...and it better be one hell of a movie that you want to revisit often to justify the cost here. I'm hyped now but the asking price forces me to wait. Will I still be interested in 2 years when the price is reasonable? Because I certainly won't be hyped about this game then. We'll see if they ever get my money.
it's $30 and with challenge mode and 5 difficulty levels is more if you expect a long game with no replayabilty or you are not a fan of 2d platformer or Megaman then this game is not for you
As someone who has never played a mega man but owns a switch and would like to try one. Is this the best entry point? I do have access to mega man 2 but 11 looks like it’s easier to get into. Is the price worth the content?
There's some aesthetic feel to MM11 that doesn't jive with me. It visually feels softer and blander than older entries. It's like the difference between tapping with a pen versus smashing with a hammer, it just seems less bombastically satisfying, like it doesn't scratch the same itch.
Maybe Willy decided to spend more money building the stages for the robot masters this time thinking Mega-man wouldn't be able to get to him, same old Willy always fucking up some areas of his plan
Very nice. I played many Megaman games. Never finished one. But that is a testament to me not being good enough. Still, it is mighty nice knowing something like Megaman, in it's original form, is still coming out :)
This game is pretty short for today's standard and quite disappointing for a $40 CA. Maybe I just don't enjoy Mega Man as I used to. Nostalgia can be a bad thing. I'd recommend this game to kids as it is intended to. I should have waited until this game reaches to $10 CA.
I’m so glad someone in their review pointed out how underwhelming the OST is in this game. I felt it in my gut after all of the promo songs, and even the block man stage I got to play at conventions and later the eventual demo that the soundtrack for this game was going to be passable. I’m still looking forward to going through it though after what was the mishap of Mighty N°9. Awesome review 😎

In the last year and half, we've had a great 2D metroid, sonic and now megaman. Now all that's left is castlevania
Shaunak Deshpande We have BloodStained!
don't like bloodstained art direction but hopefully it plays well
Seems like my generation finally being acknowledged again.
Bloodtained - Curse of the Moon kinda did it. I mean it's an excellent game, just not called Castlevania. But same formula and was a blast to play it!
You forgot the Messenger which is probably the finest 2D platformer/metroidvania of the year (if not the decade).

Sadly i have to agree. The music is bland
It comes down to melodies. In the late 90s there was a very heavy shift away from strong melodies and into “beats”. Basically, background noise. A lot of it very influenced by European House and Drum and Bass. Then as games chased after being “cinematic”, they tried hard to copy cinema scores that had leaned into minimalist ambient music.
