What I did was got the screw I needed to put in the wall. I have a bag of mix matched anchors of different sizes. I just put the screw in different anchors. -If it came out without twisting the anchor is too big. -If you have to turn the screw into the anchor and met with a small amount of resistance about three turns in, it’s the right size! -If it doesn’t turn at all then it’s probably too small (screw and anchor roughly the same size). Hope this helps 👍
+Antonio Gonzalez if anchor diameter is shown on the package match the drill bit to it. If diameter isn't shown a good rule of thumb is using drill bit that's the same width as the narrow portion of the anchor. Thanks for watching our video.
I bought a fixer uppper and I can do all these complex things that I never thought I could do but I don't know how to use a wall anchor and I feel so stupid I don't know the basics so thank you for your right to the point 56 second video this has saved my day and I thank you for this upload!!!!
Appreciate the quickness. I see 7 min video, NOPE! I see 3 min video, ehhh. I see 1:30 min video, getting there. I see 58 second video, BINGO! I clicked, learned, did it myself. Done!
I have the hardest time getting anchors fully inserted into the drywall. I usually have to cut the anchors shorter, which isn't ideal because the anchors were provided with the item I'm trying to hang. Any tips? Should I just keep hammering the anchor until it goes in?
I hung a mirror using a plastic anchor and I’m really nervous that it will still fall down and shatter. I took a peek from the side of the mirror by lifting it and the anchor was sticking out the hole that was made.
Oooh, sounds like that's too much for that plastic anchor to handle. We'd recommend using toggle bolts ( low.es/2GCjYhf ) for much more holding power. Be careful!
Thanks for getting to the point and with the great visuals. I'm an artist with ADD so this is about all the attention I had for this subject. Just need my curtains to stay up! LOL.
Hi Edwin, wood is sturdy and doesn't usually require an anchor to hang items securely. If you want additional support for heavy objects, you can use metal hollow self-drilling anchors and toggle bolts. These are compatible with wood!
@@lowesomg, I drilled a hole intentionally into the stud, put an anchor in and then my screw. I didn’t know the anchor was intended for mounting where there was no stud. 😂🤦🏻♀️ seeesh, my first time living by myself hanging stuff up and idk the basics lol
The flat metal brace has a hole in it for a screw. The little nub you see sticking off it is part of that. All the plastic bits beforehand are really just a way to get the metal anchor to the other side of the drywall through the small initial hole. In goes the screw, with some sort of hanging device being secured to it. Up goes the painting.
Drywall anchors don't require finding a stud, as they're usually designed to provide support when a stud isn't accessible. Always make sure you're considering the item weight of whatever you plan to hang to pick an appropriate anchor. We hope this helps!

I appreciate that this is just 56 seconds, not a lot of goofy narrating and unnecessary detail. Well done!
Me too!
Agree
I concur
Yessss
Yeah another video was 17 minutes. I’m not watching 17 minutes about someone talking about wall anchors!
Zero fluff. 100% useful. Thanks!
Nice what the other guy said
I'm a novice & I'm hanging a mirror, this video I love! No needless chatter, no skipping over just the facts thank you!
I love the length of this, everything I wanted to know and none of the extra crap that most diy videos have, nicely done.
By far, the best DIY video I've ever seen.
Oh wow an actually useful to-the-point DIY video, refreshing. nice work!
Omg thank you for just posting a short and correct how to. Most videos (and recipies) are forever long with an unnecessary narrative.
I appreciate you
How do you know which size of the screw bit for the anchor?
What I did was got the screw I needed to put in the wall. I have a bag of mix matched anchors of different sizes. I just put the screw in different anchors.

honestly a very well produced video. concise
How do you determine the correct size drill bit to use with the anchor your purchased?
+Antonio Gonzalez if anchor diameter is shown on the package match the drill bit to it. If diameter isn't shown a good rule of thumb is using drill bit that's the same width as the narrow portion of the anchor. Thanks for watching our video.
@@lowes 5 years later and this video was super helpful for me and my gf right now haha Also this question and reply super helpful. Thank you Lowe’s!
Please make more videos like this because I’m half stupid when it comes to diy
The music was groovin. Well done.
Thank you for making this quick and painless. I was successfully able to hang my coat rack
Hanging some VR base stations and needed this, thank you!

I wish I had found this channel years ago. Good info, short presentation.
5/5 ⭐
Thank you for this, I was able to hang my living room curtains properly today!
Brief but with everything we need to know, and it's even in focus!👏👍

We're glad this was helpful, Carrie! 💙
Thanks Lowe’s
I needed this. Idk what I'm doing but I just bought a power drill and I'm hanging shit
What size drill do I use
drill a hole... put the anchor in... and the screw that it came with
I've known this for years, yet, I still have issues with them. I hate them.
Concise. Thank you
concise! Thank you
I ate an entire chocolate croissant during the duration of this video. God that croissant was good. Wish I had another.
Exactly what I needed to know!
Thank you Jim

Anybody else? I’m having the same thing, and when I hammer too hard they break
Is it normal to use a machine screw instead with these anchors? That's what I use (in case there is a wire) because they have flat tips.
What if you don't have a drill and just a screw driver? Can you use the screw to drill the hole and then take it out and shove the anchor in?
The "tap" part isn't going well

Great video Thanks ! 💗💗
For wood surface, you can just screw it directly
Good point. Thank you 😊
My wall anchors went through the wall, what do I do now?
XD
Thanks 😊👍🏾
thank you!!! well done!!! :)
Sometimes just having an explanation can really help from constantly breaking these things
What if I don’t have a drill? Can I make the initial hole using just a screwdriver tip, place the anchor, then use a screwdriver to turn in the screw?
What if there's a stud in the way? How do you get a drywall anchor through the wood?
Hi Edwin, wood is sturdy and doesn't usually require an anchor to hang items securely. If you want additional support for heavy objects, you can use metal hollow self-drilling anchors and toggle bolts. These are compatible with wood!

I used the recommended bit, but I can't push the anchor through at all 🤔
Thx you
And what exactly happens between 0:35 & 0:36? Could have bloody sown that perhaps? Kind of the crucial part.

It looked like it would have just fallen out to me.
Why don’t they say what size to used for the drill?
THANK YOU SO MUCH
In slow- motion.. maybe?
You can slow the video down using the youtube settings.
Glad I stopped to look this up first. I was about to try to just hammer the anchor into the drywall... smdh
I did exactly that! I had the right screws but the anchors went straight threw the wall!!??
When I tried to put the screw in the anchor my dry wall split and pushed up and out. I don’t know what I did wrong
Forgive my stupidity, but just verifying, this can go anywhere in the Sheetrock? I won’t need to find a stud?
Drywall anchors don't require finding a stud, as they're usually designed to provide support when a stud isn't accessible. Always make sure you're considering the item weight of whatever you plan to hang to pick an appropriate anchor. We hope this helps!
but I just saw another video of a handyman doing it by screwing the anchor right into the wall without making a hole beforehand. WHICH WAY IS IT
I've been hanging things from drywall with no anchors for years with no problems. Am I magic?
maybe you have lathe and plaster. maybe you hanging light things. maybe you hitting studs
Do you have to use a drill?
My anchors spin inside the drywall boring it out.
Every time I take my hammer to tap them in, I smush the anchor and I can't use it anymore.
What do I do now?

That last anchor was too fast
Another dog crap video.
How deep do we drill??
What gauge drill bit do we use??
