The problem is that it has been changed since the original came out. The original was so much better. Back in the day I had so many women compliment me on this. I personally think the original along with a cologne called Fahrenheit and Polo green that has also changed we’re the best old School colognes. My go to now a days are Armani Code, Aqua Di Gio and Versace Eros but I still mix in the classics.

I've worn both Lagerfeld traditional and Lagerfeld Photo. Both are great. I wear the original. It's been my signature scent for a long time. I don't see Photo and is related products much anyone. No man cares what another man thinks of his cologne. It's ladies or his woman who matter. In power circles I've encountered, it's been nothing but compliments. Because of its age, most can't figure out what I'm wearing with which I'm fine. A defining cologne or perfume is what every person should be searching for.

I haven't tried it yet but it seems that fragrance reviewers like it due to its being an old school fragrance, just like Giorgio Beverly Hills. In the same way that certain pipe tobaccos such as Prince Albert, Carter Hall, and Sir Walter Raleigh have been around for years, Lagerfeld Classic has lasted this long for good reason.
I'll be honest. I have smelled this cologne on older gentleman that are 50, and up. It smells very nice on them. Maybe it goes better on older guys because of their body chemistry.
Don't forget that old men were young men when these fragrances first appeared. Perhaps after fifty years people will call Paco Rabanne 1 Million an old man's fragrance. It's the same with women's perfumes.

Lagerfeld is definitely different it's definitely old school but even though I disagree with you on it I think it smells good it's way better than aramis. It's not that bad. Part of it may be that you tested it in July. This is more of a coat and scarf type fragrance while it's 20 degrees outside.
