I don’t know what it is with Claire’s Ibanez but I used to see them all over the place now there’s almost none on the second hand market, if it ever collects too much dust with that new Kiesel I’d love to buy it
Hey Dean I have a film recommendation for you and the wife. Check out Sweet and Down Low. It's a little known Sean Peen flick about a jazz guitar player who it out of his mind. Not only is the guitar work in film is impressive but it shows how musicians never think what they do is good enough. I think you will dig it and completely understand that everyone will have a "Django" that haunts them. I have several. It's clear from following you and Archspire you have them too. Be well and get cracking on the new record.
I just discovered (for myself I mean) Archspire like 2 or 3 months ago with the Relentless Mutation album; and I loved it, the style was completely fresh for me. The point is, the day before yesterday - UA-cam suggested the video where you're both learning Despised Icon, I watched it and was like "damn, these guys are dope, cool video" then i subscribed and went on to watch another one where you're playing Involuntary Doppe... whatever and thought "Wow! That's fucking cool that they're playing this band" completely ignorant to the fact that Dean is part of the band (didn't even noticed if he said it at the start of the video), then he started talking about always messing up one part at live shows an I was like "Wait what the fuck is he saying?", well, i'll just say it was an awesome surprise. Cool story, right? Aight, i'll shut up. Archspire rips, and you both rip too.
Of course you both have an interest in classical music, It seems more tailored to baroque & classical? I don't know if that's correct, but I wonder what you'll think of Late Scriabin (romantic clash with modern). You should check out piano Sonata 9 (my personal favorite) as well as Sonata 5. And for a symphony piece, his Poem of Ecstasy, is considered one of the greatest symphonic pieces of it's time.
Is there a reason why you play the whole climb on the B string instead of using the B and the E string and only switching to the 7th fret for the last 2 shapes before the pinch harmonic? i really like this type of videos...just playing along and learning :)
i never caught that sus4 walk up on the last bit! kinda hard to hear lol I'd love to see a segment on those arpeggios at 1:06 in the song. HOW DO I DO THEM CLEAN D:
I really enjoy the videos with Dean and claire. I love the back and forth and dude married a metal chick that plays guitar I'm so jealous. Great videos.
i kind of miss doing pinch harmonics... ever since i down tuned my guitar in Drop G, (6 strings) i can't do any more pinch harmonics... instead of the spot being 1 CM big, it is about 1 or 2 millimeters... even on the 4th string it is almost impossible to do one! (normally the easiest one to nail...)
Hey actual helpful thought for Claire… shreddin fast stuff if I pick too hard and tense up makes knuckle wrist and shoulder hurt. If I loosen up shoulder does not hurt. Fast stuff and gallops I gotta watch for light pick attack. And part B: “I didn’t eat chocolate…today” … as if considering maybe it was the chocolate from last week in her teeth. Lmao.
