D, E and F Major. Love the color of those keys and the figering patterns. I like C minor too. Ahhhh. The melancholy tug on the heart strings of a minor key

I progress through my scales in fourths. I've memorised the Cycle of Fourths (like the Circle of Fifths, but with the flats on the right of the circle), and play maj and relative minor at each step. Because there are 12 steps and 6 days in the week if you take a day off, it's easy to allocate one's practice on a weekly / biweekly rota.
One reason for progressing in fourths is that so much of Western music progresses in this direction. I've been learning jazz, and there are well over 1,000 standards that progress in this way.
Can't say I have a favourite scale. Whole Tone is interesting (and there are only two of them!), also Diminished (and only 3 of them!).

I sincerely appreciate these videos. Picked up a flute a couple years ago as an adult and felt good about progression (almost had the 3rd octave down, handful of scales, music reading), then sadly didn't do much all of last year. Now I can't sight read what I learned, forgot some of the fingerings, and sound horrible!
I've constantly had some of the scales/tunes I've played going on in my head though and had to pick it back up. Your videos have inspired me to practice my scales at the very least. Thank you Jane! 😄

Love your videos. I think it's also a good idea to incorporate the lower notes in a given scale. Like if in G you also run the scale down to the low C (or B) in order to improve the low register.

Bb,C, F, G majors. Now working on Eb. How to know if you are a beginner or intermediate?

Beginner would be playing more the first two octaves of the flute slowly, intermediate is confident at three octaves of the flute at a moderate speed. 😀
