Phoenixspin ...not at the moment...but I think we are getting there. Have felt this way for the last two, three years. That maybe in another 20 yrs or so, it will be frowned upon by the majority of society. I read a bbc article just this week about giving up beef not only for the cows themselves but to reduce the amounts of methane from cow farts. For the climate. I would rather it be for the cows as living gentle beings. Beef is delicious...but cows are beautiful and do not deserve the treatment they may receive as slaughter animals, as opposed to dairy cows. Not a vegan, but I do see the reasoning for it. As it is, my digestion doesnt handle meat products like it used to...SO, YES, SAVE THE COWS, FOR COW PURPOSES FIRST!!! WE CAN MANAGE A LITTLE LESS MEAT AS HUMANS...MOO🐄

Great video. I had horses, dairy and beef cows. Cows can become very friendly, especially dairy and cows you raise from a calf. Some learn to open gates and to sniff to see if an electric fence is on. Some want attention like a dog. As more of my calves became milkers I had to give up trying to work in the field they were in. A few would come to me and nudge my arm demanding a scratch. They were big, powerful cows now (1500 pounds or so) and could throw me in the air.

I once worked for a cattle ranch and the owners kept a calf that was too runty to make it as breeder or be sold for meat. It was the first time I'd ever seen these animals play and act like domestic pets. You could walk to the fence and shout his name, the little guy would run from all the way across the field and bounce around wanting to play. He had a ball just like the cow in this video and would play fetch all day long if you'd let him.
It really changed the way I thought about cows. They're way smarter than most people would believe, and they're way kinder/gentler than most people would believe as well. Having said all that. Hamburgers are delicious.

That was the straw that broke me. Feel torn on the rare occasions I eat meat, and question myself. All animals are potential pets, playful and loving, yet we slaughter them and eat them and there is no need. People get outraged by countries that kill and eat dogs, but are we any better. Pigs especially are intelligent animals. What are we doing? I'm following my gut instincts now and going onto plant based foods, which is better for us all and the planet. And all the haters of vegans who wanna troll me, zip it. I'm not interested. To everyone else , have a wonderful day 😊

There is no such thing as “humane” slaughter. That’s simply a term used to mask the horridness of a living being having to die for the pleasure of our taste buds.
If an alien race came to earth and “humanely” slaughtered us for our meat to please their appetite, would that be okay? Of course not. We are sentient beings, who feel, empathize, think, experience, joy and pain. Cows, chickens, pigs and other living beings have all been proven to do the same. They are sentient as well, and they deserve better.

Then again, this cow seems to be a fjällko (fjäll, in english), known to have existed atleast since 1296, but probably since the viking age and earlier, in northern Sweden. They would not exist, nor would they have survived, if they weren't kept for, in this case, mostly their milk. People lived and died by the existence of these animals. Sweden was a poor country up until just a couple of generations back, so one shouldn't diminish the meaning of actually having cows like her around.

I think you're assuming the incorrect instinct. Her behavior makes perfect sense if you see it as a herding instinct, intended to keep a calf safely by her side. The fact that she herds the ball toward this particular human indicates she trusts her. And gradually this instinctive behavior became a game. Happens all the time.
