In their own HOD line-up, it's very close to a Construct in dimensions but it's legitimately an Innova Beast in flight and feel (historically an undervalued disc) that'll receive a ton of hype because it's a "new" mold.
My main 10 speed for a while was a champion beast, but I just got a Yikun Wei as a mystery disc from infinite and it is $$. Side note: I broke my personal backhand distance record with an I-blend maya a couple of days ago at 317ft. I know that isn’t very far to most people, but I was pretty stoked. After having torn all the tendons on my right shoulder last year and having surgery, I thought I might never be able to play right handed again.
@@ClarkPotter I feel his pain for sure. It’s a lot of work and patience to get through a shoulder injury. The hardest part is trusting your body and not push yourself too quickly. Eagle seems to be on the right track though.
Rim width more similar to 11 speeds from most other brands. Have noticed MVP seems to do this… rim width on Volt feels like a 10 speed (and measures like one) but marketed as 8. I’d recommend throwing a Wraith… same rim width but can get in a ton of plastics and it’s amazing.

I've got the SE Trail coming along with some other fun stuff... will be interesting when I get back home and get to throw them to see how stable things really are. I'm thinking Wave vs Trail test is coming up.
@@HuCkDuCk Trail is more stable than the Wave I think, and that doesn't seem to make sense, to me. However, the Wave might think about turning a little where the Trail just wants to make a beeline somewhere. Currently in India for a couple more days and then I'll probably be throwing it again after I loosen up. Travel is beating me up this year and hurting my disc game. :lol
Hey Anthony, could you check out the Viking Discs Ragnarok? Its a disc that everybody has been sleeping on. Its a Grace for way less money and in my opinion its way better. Knowing you started of bombing Grace’s I thought you would be the guy to do the comparison
Actually the "glide" will present itself much better on a disc that can maintain level flight such as the trail because you are not "spilling" angle all the time from turning and fading. You can basically break down the flight of the disc into many short moments and each moment a disc spends on angle it will "correct" in the direction it is leaning and the "new" direction carries with it a lower nose angle (since the disc is starting to move towards the side where it is "dipping" the edge), this is "spilling" in a nutshell and any disc that doesn't do it will stay up better (prime example: 4 or 5-glide midranges staying up for ages)
Hey man, I am a bit surprised that you haven't gotten calipers (a caliper? a calipers?) yet. You should be able to get cheap ones for around $10 or $20. And they are awesome to measure rim widths with. Really helpful.
The PDGA measurements are from a single guy measuring an example disc sent to them, and are known to be inconsistent. Compare several molds that are known to be the same (like the mana vs lobster vs creature vs mystery box or any of the various P2s) and you'll find several different measurements for identical molds. I'd take any measurement from PDGA with a grain of salt - it could easily be +/- a couple mm.
Just picked up a trail this morning after not being able to play due to a stress fracture in my foot, For me it's definitely a 10/6/0/1 in the woods for backhand, but did some fantastic work for me. What a great disc
Anthony the best shot on hole 16 at Adam’s is when you played with Cole Redalen - his second shot, which was a smooth, towering sky anhyzer - landed a mere 22 feet from the basket but was blocked out from an easy eagle putt by a weirdly situated 6 foot high horizontally lying thick tree branch. also is that when you started throwing sky anhyzers after seeing Cole’s amazing shot? keep up the great content!
Man you have to try out the TSA Construct. I have an Aura Construct that has been in my bag since I got it and seems like it flies super similar to the trail- tons of glide and LASER straight. Plague Doctor stamp one
The shape is similar to my broken in Ninja. Their first 10! Wow. The Gateway Ninja is considered a Distance driver too/. I like the Sampo for a 10 too. Thanks for sharing.
Bummed you don't have my number 1 comp for this disc. The TSA construct is soooo good and you can get a wide variety of flights out of all the plastics.
Its a weird thing in disc golf that 9 speeds considered for "advanced" players (Firebird, Thunderbird etc), 10 speeds considered "beginner" (Aztec, Beast, CD's, H#v2, Sapphire, Gorgon), 11 speeds "semi-advanced" (Wraith a "baby-Destroyer"), and 12+ speeds "very advanced" (Destroyer etc). Its just weird that most 10 speeds are not really made or marketed like faster 9 speeds, but they're made as slower (sometimes much slower) 11-12 speeds.
A bit off subject but I see you guys wearing the vivos, are those the trail runner ones? I have been thinking about picking these up for discgolf especially because it rains a lot out here.
Have you ever thrown the Lattitude 64 Spike? It’s one of my most used discs in Disc Golf Valley and I wonder how it is in real life…but there’s no UA-cam videos on it
Really enjoyed the comparisons! As soon as you threw the first Trail I thought a "star plastic" Era would be exactly the same but the Era has a noticeably larger fade, even mine that is well seasoned. Might have to pick up a Trail for those cheater tunnel shots!
MVP Volt also has a 20mm rim, according to PDGA. Oh and by the way, you should review the Latitude 64 Musket sometime. It's Thomas Ekström's (Trilogy chief designer) favorite disk for a reason.
I feel like a disc you missed for a comparison based on the flight you're getting is the Dynamic Discs Escape. They go sneaky far and have a similar flight and speed. It is a 9 not a 10 but that's the only part that is off.
Problem with rim sizes on the MVP website is that they seem to measure their rim size differently. MVP rim size seems to be from the tip of the disc to the bottom edge of the rim as if the bottom edge was on the same horizontal plane as the tip; so MVP basically measures just the thickness of the wing section of the rim. PDGA measurement seems to take into account the inner slope of the rim (where your fingers grip) to measure the actual full thickness of the rim and not just the wing section. Trail is "20mm", while PDGA says 21mm. Insanity is "18.5mm", but if you pick up calipers and measure it, or look at PDGA website, it's 20mm (my plasma measures 20.17mm). Crave is "16.5mm", but measures 18mm (my plasma is 18.02mm). I got burned couple times buying discs online by looking at the MVP website rim sizes thinking a disc will fit my hand since it's smaller than a disc I like, but ended up getting a bigger one because MVP going rogue with measurements. So now I always check the PDGA measurements for the actual rim size before buying, to have a proper idea how it fits in my hand.
Maybe if you consider the rim depth as well when you're looking at the rim thickness number, it will make sense. This likely is why it's either a speed higher or lower by the "official flight numbers" -- did you compare two discs at 20mm by their rim depths at all? Deeper rim and it probably goes down a speed.
Nomad, Terra, Zenith, Detour, and now the Trail are all in the Conrad line and currently the Terra and Detour are my personal faves from his lineup, I'm personally wondering who ends up getting the flippy 12 speed slot, will Simon be the 12 speed guy or will they 50/50 it
I measured 3 teslas. Proton, fission, neutron. All three measured 19.5mm +/- 0.1mm. Also measured 3 Gorgons in star. All measured 20.6mm. Maybe pdga just rounds up.

I am confused a little by the comment from Caleb, saying the trail is a wave for faster arm speeds? Since its s slower speed than the wave, wouldnt it be a wave for slower arm speeds?
What I meant is that the trail flies like what a wave is meant to fly like, but for faster arm speeds imo. The trail will fly similar to a wave for slower arm speeds, but with a bit less turn, and less fade
@@caleb_the_discgolfer Thank you for the clarification, I was looking forward to buying the trail, but was hesitant when I misunderstood your comment. Right now a 9-speed is about my my max, the wave is above what I can throw reliably. I am going to grab one to see how it flies for me.
