- This week PM Modi went to #Varanasi to inaugurate the #KashiVishwanath Corridor and we were treated to wall-to-wall, 24/7 coverage on Indian TV news channels on every move he made - from the holy ‘dubki’ he took in the Ganga, to praying in the temple to eating food with workers.
#AmishDevgan brought in Shah Jahan of course and we saw some silly history lessons being taught by Sadhguru on #TimesNow and the newest Sadhvi in town on #RepublicTV.

This episode was very satirical, Modi has officially muddled the difference between religion and politics what will be the future course from here? Will there be elections after 2022 or will india have its first dictator, or the election itself will be just for show like in Russia.

Not really. Modi is not so young. He will be PM for one more term at max. Without him, BJP's way of politics won't be liked much by the people and they will be voted out soon. India was under left leaning rule for about 60 years, why shouldn't it be under right leaning rule for half that time? Isn't that what democracy is?
When congress leaders attend iftaar parties or visit churches, were they not blurring religion from politics? Was Mamata not blurring the same when she asked all muslims to vote as a block. Indian politics was always like this. When we had PMs from one family generation after generation, did it not occur to you that we were having a dictatorial leadership?
Everybody knows if RG steps down as congress leader, they will be a better party who can counter BJP, but still why is noone willing to take leadership in the grand old party?
As long as BJP has hypocritical opponents, they will never lose.

But what makes modi' approach objectionable is his uncritical and blind coverage by the media houses which are expected to provide the information as it is as well as well expert backed analysis in a limited time period and not telecasting the same visuals all day long... This trend of independent and responsible institution becoming enabler of one man show leaves behind sovereignty of people of India.... This needs a proper check which newslaundary is doing at its best

Being an architect, I would also like to look at the architectural solution they have come up with. Does it matches with the architectural character of the Kashi, cause during the "spectacle" event, I could also see some plain columns without any sort of carvings, which is totally not in context with the surroundings. An example of this kind of destruction in name of "vikas" is the Jalianwala Bagh light and sound show in Punjab. They have destroyed the bullet holes by plastering, did a full lively mural on a wall, which doesn't suits the sentiments of the place, also, their light and sound show look like some Chainsmoker concert.

@mr.1n5an_e hehe. I am pretty young in field, so I can be wrong. I just wanted to know the architectural aspects of the project, its pretty common in our field to discuss any design. You can't preserve culture by designing it like a blank slate. That's why I gave an example of Jalianwala Bagh. And don't take my word for Jaliyanvala Bagh, it is all over twitter.
I am an architect too and understand the importance of that historical wall. Sad.
I have never been to there but I thought they might have preserved the bullet-marked wall, I feel so sad after knowing what govt did, from you. The wall was a piece of our history, they could have put it in a display like in museum. this is what happens when you put the people in power who have zero respect for history or knowledge of how to preserve it.
