I really appreciate your videos. It's great to see that you use different inserts depending on the operation. I was wondering if you could create a video or write a comment explaining the specific inserts you use and in what situations. I struggle to achieve excellent surface finishes on mild steel, and I usually resort to finishing passes using the vertical shear method, which is quite time-consuming.

I'm not very familiar with inserts, but I think Sumitomo's T1500A material inserts are good for high-speed cutting to achieve a glossy finish on low-carbon and medium-carbon steels.

Таким приспособлением опасно нарезать резьбу в глухих отверстиях, можно метчик сломать, нет защиты от перегрузки

Станок изготовлен в 2009 году.
Большую часть смазочно-охлаждающей жидкости, которую я использую, - это Castrol Variocut C210.
Для нарезания резьбы мы используем пасту для нарезания резьбы, не содержащую хлора, чтобы сохранить красоту станка.
All protective of the work with the copper clamps, and the poor collett chuck is smashed into the three jaw chuck of the lathe subjected to heavy clamping steel to steel. Poor thing all marred 😢

Здорово!!! Особенно для разовой работы. Три часа делаешь приспособу, чтоб один раз нарезать резьбу ИМЕННО ЭТИМ метчиком (потому что у другого размер квадрата другой), а потом положить её в «долгий ящик»
Дак со временем сделаешь держалки под все метчики)
а потом метчик упрётся в стенку, сломается, разворотит всю державку, и будешь еще 3 часа выковыривать обломок
Сделал на работе подобную приспособу, использую в купе с головкой зажатой в патрон, частелько бывает, что по 80-100 килограмм болтов м16 и м20 нужно резать, с такой приспособой можно и обороты ставить побольше ибо руками держать не нужно, скорость работы увеличилась кратно, а затрата усилий снизилась. И под метчики переходник тоже сделал, нужно много резать гайки м22х2,5 длинной 30.

Why is there no tang on the back of the taper?

I didn't think the tang was necessary because I was only going to use it on the lathe.
@@SwaplampJapan without a tang, the taper may not be enough to keep it from spinning in larger taps.

When I worked at my previous company, when I was drilling stainless steel with an old big drill that had a damaged taper part with a tang, the taper came off and the tang was twisted. At that time, the tongue tried to push the drill extra and moved the fixed tailstock back.
The drill did not break and the tang part was missing, and the inside of the tailstock spindle was also scratched.
Personally, I don't want the tongue to act as a detent.
When the taper comes off, it will run idle, but if there is a tongue, I think that the force that shifts the core will be added.
Also, since it slides, the part on the tailstock side may move to the workpiece side and the tongue may come off.
@@SwaplampJapan spinning loose inside the tail stock may damage the taper, reducing holding force of the tool, the tang is to prevent that, while light applications it’s perfectly fine as shown in the video, but if the gang ever broke due to excess force, that may be a tooling issue, I have drilled 6 inch holes without a pilot and have never broken one. Quality steel is key. This may just be an American thing, but unless using a live center, all tools in tailstocks have a rectangular gang to prevent spinning in the tail stock and damaging it

Ever since I damaged the tang of the drill, I have been aware that the tang is the part that is hit when the drill is removed from a drilling machine.
As you wrote, the Japanese tool maker's website also states that the main role of the tongue is to prevent rotation.

直径が大きい場合は駒と軸との焼き付き防止のために回転数は落とします。
送り量については旋盤やローレットホルダーの負担を考えれば低い方が良いと思います。
炭素量の多い鋼材、SCMやステンレスなどの硬いワークには0.06m程mm/rev程度が最適だと思います。
反対に柔らかいアルミなら0.15mm/rev程度でも問題はないと思います。
