if you want to bring origin into a clubs performance, why not bring up the Cowboys? missing the most through origin of any club yet they still beat the roosters and panthers away without them... the players brisbane are missing were always going to feature in origin, its on them to prepare for that
I think the cows had 6 rested when they came to Penrith and beat us, panthers rested 5 but the cows were too good.

Roosters were more affected than the cowboys for game 1 ya 🤡 not only did we have the players out we had our, NSW took teddy a couple hours before kick off which 💯 affected how the roosters played that week

The broncos biggest problem is Ego and lack of patience especially Walsh and Mam. Reynolds is the person thats derailed their season. Without him there is little to no structure

Penrith have been missing half their team for the past 3-4 years to Origin, and it didn't stop them from winning 3 years in a row.

Penrith are three-peat Premiers and each year lost half their starting squad to Origin but still managed to win the comp (Stephen Chricton, Jarome Luai, Nathan Cleary, Isaiah Yeo, Brian To'o, Liam Martin).
Mate broncs have lost reynolds, walsh, cobbo, haas, carrigan during this 6 week stretch not to mention losing flegler, farnworth and capewell this year that is 8 from the starting 13 last year not having been in the team

There is a point that Buzz is making, the good teams suffer during Origin and unfortunately with the pace of Origin, these players come back gassed or sometimes even injured. I saying that though, Panthers just keep trucking on regardless
during origin cowboys have missed Nanai,Dearden,Cotter,Robsoin,Taulagi,Holmes and have still managed to look better than when they had them....
And beat Penrith. Broncos need to 'one man out, next man up' like every other club must try and do.

We’ve been poor and lost games with no Origin players too but we never seem to lose two in a row, let alone six. Broncos need to be more resilient as a group.
No for years the Broncos provided the majority of the QLD side and the press were ok with it, Now because of their lack of performance someone wants to change the rules again, No club has the right to be in finals contention, It has to be earned.

No more than the Panthers. Origin is our hardest contest and the Panthers don’t complain, they adapt. Its a simple case of “ If you can’t handle the heat get out of the Kitchen”
Although I feel for clubs when Origin rolls around, Penrith have been gutted 3 years running, not only managing through it but often winning through it. I get the ideology but when proven it’s possible to achieve, there’s not much else to say 🤷🏻♂️
Another example of why Buzz is out of touch. It is all about depth and culture at the club, Brisbane just don't have it, not saying they are not talented, they just don't have that component yet.

does anyone realise that if all teams have a bye during origin- (but still play all 24 games) that the grand final won’t be on a long weekend. and if we were desperate to keep the long weekend AND change the origin period (keeping it within the nrl season), the teams may need to play 3 less games… that probably made no sense ahah 😅

Maybe it's their squad, they don't have a backup backrower for god sake. If Piakura played origin, there would be way too high of a chance Kevvie would play Oates there. They have good spine cover, but not much else.

If you have half the Queensland origin team then you have an advantage over teams that don’t have so many rep players. The Broncos have plenty of advantages over other teams. The biggest club with one of the biggest areas to find and develop talent. I don’t see how they can’t dominate like panthers has, but do it for longer periods. Look at the players panthers have had move on to new clubs in the past couple of seasons. If broncos gave up half that talent they’d be winning spoons.

Since the mid 2000s, Melbourne have lost just as many, if not more, key players during origin as Brisbane have. Smith, Slater, Cronk, Inglis, etc. Vital players. It's never bothered them. Also, this isn't the late 1990s, when Brisbane were losing half their team every May to July. Their origin contribution is far less than it used to be. Even Penrith have found themselves decimated during origin recently, and have still managed to make the last 4 GFs, winning 3 of them. Up until last year, Brisbane were a one town team in the biggest league market in the country. They've had all the advantages for a long, long time. Don't blame their inexplicable eighteen-year premiership drought on origin.

This is just nonsense from Buzz haha. No team with less than 4 Origin players has won the comp in about 10 years. Penrith had 6 last year, 7 the year before and 6 the year before that and won 3 premierships in a row!

That is why you got coaches and management there to prepare the team for such scenarios like origin games, (most commonly injuries) A lot of teams go through that and they prepare for it. Even the Broncos would be filthy with Buzz' comments

Origin is great! Allows your clubs development player to shine. One man out, next man up.

In the middle of the season.
Its a leveler. It allows clubs lower in the table to compete against the clubs at the top if drawn that way.
Its a win, win situation.
Unknown players get exposure and opportunities that they may otherwise be overlooked when teams Origin stars are included.
It gives origin quality players, regardless of where your team is in the ladder, the chance to shine enjoy and play their style of footy amongst other top players without the expectation of trying to lift your club team into form on the back of their own talents.
Let players shine when the opportunity comes.
Origin always unfairly impacts the Broncos. It's not even a question.
The Bronco's lost the second best Half in the NRL and they have a Show Pony who has no regard for the ball in their team, if he just protected the ball and stop trying to make the impossible past he could become a legend, but at the moment I wouldnt have him in my team.

I hate Origin because it's played in the middle of the season. I always pray players don't get injured too in Origin because it's a meaningless series especially if you're a player. Clubs need their star players to stay healthy and be available
Origin quality players should be aloud to reach the top pinnacle of their career if they choose too, without guilt, and their clubs player depth should also be given the opportunity to shine in their origin players absence. That's how it works.

I'm aware of my biases, but you don''t take 5 of our starting players out each game and there's no way Melbourne would be at the top of the ladder. Sitting in second is a testament to the Penrith's coaching and youth set up, but there's no reason Origin shouldn't just be a weekend spectacle with all teams having a bye.
The problem with sin bins is that the refs don't really have another option.
Penalties are penalties, but maybe if it's between a sinbin and a penalty it's an auto 2 points.

As an UK based NRL fan I totally agree with Buzzon this. Whilst I know STATE OF ORIGIN is huge in Australia I find it absolutely mad all the top players are missing or playing flogged for their clubs for the best part of 6 weeks every season for something that the rest of the world has absolutely no interest in .
