  • This Video show a fast way to cut shingles at the gable end of your roof. Your cuts will always be straight and from below you will see a nice straight line. I use the pitch hopper to anchor my scribe shingle so it wont move.
    If you have any questions on roof install methods leave a comment and we will try and get a video out to answer your question.

    I do the same! But I put 3 runs. It's easier. 4 makes you have to dig the blade deep on the last ones.

      Hi Jaime. I know what you mean. Whatever works is the best way to do it. I will normally cut 5 runs at a time using the large olfa hook blade so it doesn’t have a problem with the depth.

      @@schoenroofing I used to have blades that were black, and came in a blue package. Had 3 slots on top to adjust blade for the knife. Could get the 4 or 5 runs easy with it. Havent found em. Been using husky blades. Break easy and not enough depth.

    isnt that called fraying the shingle by hanging it over the rack??? why wouldnt u just cut the proper piece ?????????

      Hey Kris. You can certainly cut each shingle as you go. This is a much quicker method and having the straight edge ensures you have a clean line when looking from the ground up. Thanks for the question.

    here's a pro tip: Put a factory end on the rake and stick a nail in it. Cut the inside end. Use tin snips.
    If your cut ain't perfect it don't matter.
    You're welcome.

    • @schoenroofing
      @schoenroofing  2 роки тому

      Yes that’s one way to do it but it is much slower.

      @@schoenroofing hacking away with a knife is no fun I hate that.
      Quit doing that years ago.

    I save factory edge and cut the left side and no rake shingle (soldier) needed

    • @schoenroofing
      @schoenroofing  3 роки тому

      That’s a way to do it as well. I find it slower cutting every shingle that way.

      @@schoenroofing I've tried it myself too, and if you happen to cut it too short, it looks messy
