Early Morning Walk down Astor Street, Chicago Gold Coast

Astor is one of the most famous streets in Chicago and certainly the most elegant and prestigious street in the gold coast. Most of these mansions are landmarks. If you want to live in the Gold Coast, and only the best will do, then Astor street is where you will want to live.

The 1500 Astor mansion (1:30) was the Bateman school years ago. I actually went to pre-school there briefly in '50; lived at 59 w Burton back then; an interesting mix of neighborhoods, before Sandburg Village kind of destroyed it.

I lived at The Gallery Magazine mansion in '73 at 1335 N. Astor Street. What ever became of that bldg ?

I considered buying that red brick mansion on Banks and Astor. It has some kind of nefarious history from what Ive heard. Still looking though.
