I prepared for 4 days, only with your videos, and got a 118 (R:29, L:30, S:30, W:29). Thank you so much Josh! Some tips for new test-takers: 0. Watch (almost) all TST videos. They are more than great. This is your bread and butter for TOEFL. 1. Practice a lot and use real test conditions. So, set timers, use practice tests, and practice in ways that are given in the test (i.e. test speaking with all 4 in order). I think this makes it easier on test day since you know exactly what you can expect. 2. Watch the time. Make sure you know how far you should be along at a certain time. This will prevent panic due to time constraints. 3. Never think about the last section in the test. Concentrate on the current section, the rest doesn't matter. 4. Do not get distracted. Twice I was distracted by someone who had a technical issue. Both times cost me minutes in writing and reading. I think both times lost me points (it doesn't matter with a 118 but I stressed about it in the test). 5. At least once, do a practice test from start to finish with no break and stick to all time constraints. This will teach you how exhausting the test is and you can experience the whole thing from start to finish. In my group, someone thought he had a break after reading, went to the toilet, and missed half of the first listening (because it starts automatically). 6. Find what works for you. My first practice test was a 105. I took many notes, learned a lot of templates and thought this is the only way. After that, I tried a few different strategies such as no notes at all and no templates. Personally, I took some notes but mostly really tried to listen. I also only used a template for the first sentence of speaking and writing. I found that a known start with a sentence is very helpful but too many templates felt unnatural and made me worse. Find your balance and strategy (by practicing). 7. Don't stress about it. In the end, it is "just" an English test and you have multiple tries (cost aside). If you get a bad score, I think focusing on improving your English should be the main focus, not improving the TOEFL score. If you only miss a few points, focus on improving the TOEFL score (by doing everything you did but a little more). Hope I can help at least someone. Have a good day and enjoy the learning process :)

@@srinijachowdharykv2939Just practice as much as you can. Reading and listening is where you need to focus the most. When it comes to speaking make sure you speak clearly without fumbling and while writing the essay just make sure that whatever you are trying to explain you have a clear idea about it and the essay should be free from grammatical error i.e. clear ideas and clean writing. You will end up scoring good. All the best
@@lorenavelasquez1942When it comes to reading read each and every line and try to comprehend how it connects to that specific paragraph. Just try to understand what the author is trying to explain and have a brief idea in mind. Always try to understand how multiple paragraphs are linked with each other and note it down as you read. It would be useful for the last question which asks you to summarize important points from the reading passage. Best of luck!
Thanks a lot for theses really helpful videos ! :) i just had one question about the reading part : On the official day of the exam, can we pause to take notes after reading ? Or does the conversation part start directly after ?
Hi Josh, I want to thank you very much for your videos. They are very important to me for the exam preparation. I have a question about the official practice tests: is it possible that the score given by the AI is more severe than the real score given by the proctors at the exam? Thanks in advance for anyone who will help me.
An AI or any website that gives you a score without a real person listening to your answer can differ dramatically, higher or lower, from your actual score. There are several reasons for this but essentially a person needs to evaluate whether the details and the examples you give are correct and in a logical order.
@@matteocecchetti7774 Update: The AI scores for my reading and listening scores were accurate. What it said on test day is exactly what I got in my official score for reading and listening.

I'm on dilema right now. I need to choose either Toefl or Ielts... I think TOEFL is easier, but they will give me up to 100% IELTS test fee cashback if i passed the univ registration by using IELTS certificate. Also i will get free IELTS course next month... To me, the TOEFL reading test, the grammar section to be exact, is very difficult. While i have an issue on IELTS listening test, i often miss the dialog and the question... the when i tried to run to follow the recent dialog, it already talks about the next question -_-..
Thank you for commenting. In general, students at lower levels of proficiency should work on the basics of English first. I would suggest investing time in a site like LingQ where you can do some extensive practice that is not connected to the TOEFL, that way you can build your skills and vocabulary with text that is a little bit easier before moving ahead with the TOEFL. www.lingq.com/
Hello, please I just need to get something clear. In the speaking section; where they say, you may begin reading now; are we suppose to read the text out loud to the microphone?
Just had my TOEFL I was doing the 3rd part of the speaking section. I was listening to the lecture and suddenly the proctor's message appeared saying show me your whiteboard. As I held my whiteboard, the proctor said your test is going to be terminated due to breach of integrity.😢😢😢 I know taking notes is allowed during the speaking section but I dont know why my test was terminated 😢😢😢😢😢 That was pretty unfair. 😭😭😭😭
josh ,is each section in the test still out of 30 ? have they. changed there score ranges for advanced , high inter . etc ..or are they still the same ?
@@TSTPrep Well, I 'm still waiting for the overall score, but my reading and listening score improved to 27,29! Thanks a lot! I will also report the results too 😉

Is the unofficial scores for reading and listening scored over 30 Also, will the unofficial scores be the same with the official scores over 30 This is for anyone who took the test after July 26
The maximum score you can get in each TOEFL section is 30, you can't score "over 30". Usually, the unofficial and official scores are the same, though.

the problem is I cant use a rich vocabulary in my own language how can I do it in english. some people dont speak that way theyvuse simple words to communicate. Unis should let us try their course and see if we can handle it
i wanna ask about the Advanced writing temp. can i still use it or if i use they will know and this could reduce my scores? also i wanna know if there are Advanced writing temp for the new writing question thank you for your
First of all, it has been confirmed multiple times by graders and ETS representatives that they DO NOT DEDUCT DUE TO TEMPLATES. And here is a link to our updated Writing guide with templates - drive.google.com/file/d/1ZWv72rlPez6Iwt5Xk4GbhsZVDxkraJ9q/view
You're not alone! Lots of students feel the same way. It's weird to speak "on command". The best cure I know for this is to practice in a TOEFL-like situation, record your response and try to get used to those weird settings by continuing to practice every day. Hope that helps!
Just did this speaking part and i`m sooo scared of the exam (of the speaking part, to be exact). Guys, i have 6-7 months left before taking the test, is it possible to prepare perfectly for the TOEFL during this period?
Absolutely. In 6-7 months I think you could easily manage a very good result. You have ample time to revise and brush up all of your speaking, reading etc skills. Don't worry, you can prepare perfectly since you have a lot of time.
Hi Lisa and thanks for commenting. Everyone is at a different level, but I would say you still have plenty of time. That's great. Perfect score. How did you do it. My weakest area is reading.

Hi Josh, thanks for the amazing video. I am wondering how formal the speaking part has to be, because the ibt toefl is more academic than the est
Thanks a lot for theses really helpful videos ! :) i just had one question about the reading part : On the official day of the exam, can we pause to take notes after reading ? Or does the conversation part start directly after ?
No, you can't pause on the real test.
Thank you Josh 😙😌
Hey what about your results?
Hi Josh, I want to thank you very much for your videos. They are very important to me for the exam preparation. I have a question about the official practice tests: is it possible that the score given by the AI is more severe than the real score given by the proctors at the exam? Thanks in advance for anyone who will help me.
I'm not sure. I should get my scores by tmrw hopefully, I can compare it to the AI scores I got on test day and get back to you if that's helpful?
@@ZaharaV999-tl1er Thank you very much Zahara, it could be great! Shukran!

I took the TOEFL test and scored well. I didn't like the photo taken then, can I change it now? If yes then how can I change it . thank you
I'm on dilema right now.
It's up to you, really. If you find the IELTS easier and you can take either test, I would say go for it!
Thank you for informing but i am bit nervous because i am not good at speaking and also in reading but trying every day 😢
Thank you for commenting.
I just have question though, do you have to read the passages aloud or do you just read them in your head ?
Good question and no, you don't need to read the passage aloud.

Hello, please I just need to get something clear.
In the speaking section; where they say, you may begin reading now; are we suppose to read the text out loud to the microphone?
Good question and no, you don't need to read it aloud.
Just had my TOEFL I was doing the 3rd part of the speaking section. I was listening to the lecture and suddenly the proctor's message appeared saying show me your whiteboard. As I held my whiteboard, the proctor said your test is going to be terminated due to breach of integrity.😢😢😢
I know taking notes is allowed during the speaking section but I dont know why my test was terminated 😢😢😢😢😢 That was pretty unfair. 😭😭😭😭
I'm sorry to hear about your situation. It sounds like you will have to contact ETS to figure out what's going on.

Is the unofficial scores for reading and listening scored over 30
Also, will the unofficial scores be the same with the official scores over 30

The maximum score you can get in each TOEFL section is 30, you can't score "over 30". Usually, the unofficial and official scores are the same, though.

You can take notes whenever you like. The only exception is at the beginning of a section when they are reading directions.

Hi Josh, I have a question about the speaking section. Is the speech time 45/60 seconds a strict limit or is it also allowed, for example, to speak 62 seconds when 60 seconds is required?
When you reach the 45/60-second mark (depending on the question), the recording stops, and the evaluator won't hear what you said after that.
