I‘ve got the official TOEFL Guide Book where i always score around 25/30 on the Listening exercises, on your tests i‘m always 10 points worse, this makes me scared.

Hey Josh, I have a big doubt regarding timing. The timing on the TOEFL Listening section is confusing. To clarify, the audio recordings do contribute to the total 36 minutes for the whole Listening section. In other words, the TOEFL clock is running when the audio plays.

On the test, you can go to the next question without waiting for the next one to appear. We calculated about 30 seconds per question for this video on UA-cam, which equals out about the same amount of time you will have in total on test day.

Thanks for your question. No, the clock does not run while the audio plays, only when you are answering the questions.
