  • This video will walk through how to travel with mountain bikes, gravel bikes, and fat bikes inside the Solis Pocket, looking at the details of how well they fit in the back area, if they can mount to the built-in logistics track, and if they fit or don't fit under the rear folding bed.

I get in three bikes. Road, gravel and MTB in my Outside Van Syncline using the Freedom Coast low profile mounts. I have the L tracks at both ends of the "garage" as such the MTB mounts to the rear track and the road and gravel bikes mount on the forward track.

That is impressive, and the Outside Vans have a great layout/design. Thanks for watching and for your comment.

Nice. You answered some questions I had about Pocket and Bike storage. Looks like my XL road bike will be a tight fit vertically but should be ok. Thank you!

That's great! Thanks for letting us know. We had lots of similar questions before we got the van too so glad we could help. Watch those drop handlebars hitting the rear doors. Good luck and thanks for watching!

Wonder if you could use your nifty mobile board-mount (nice work on that) on the forward end of the space to store the fat (and other) bikes "back-to-front" to avoid the handle bar entanglement and maybe get better use of the space? You could even put a slippery pad under the board and slide it forward after mounting, then pull that out from under it when it's in position.

Hi Justin, thanks for watching and for your suggestion! I took some measurements to test your idea. To mount a fat bike or another bike with flat bars "backwards" (rear tire toward back of van), one side of the handlebars will go over the couch cushion which is fine, the other side will be up against the drawers/cabinets that you see at around the 8 minute mark in the video. You would have to have one side of the fork pressed right up against the cushions to even come close to getting the handle bar to not hit the cabinets under the sink. My mounting board does not allow me to get the side of a fat bike fork fully flush against the cushion side cabinet, I would need a longer L-Track that spanned the whole length of the mounting board. So in my case, it won't fit with my current setup. If the L-Track ran the full length of my mounting board. I would say it would be very tight still with a fat bike but more feasible a regular mountain bike due to the narrower fork. And if the bars were narrower than 800mm that would also help. Alternatively you could loosen the handlebars and turn them 90 degrees, that would work. I don't think you could easily put two bikes in this alternative direction without turning the bards. Obviously this configuration will stick out in the living area further. A road or gravel bike looks like it would fit backwards better. Hope that helps and thanks again! If I ever upgrade my mounting board I will get a longer L-Track to have this option! Thanks again for your suggestion.

Thanks so much for this video, I'm looking at the pocket 36a and was wondering if a bike would fit with the bed down....

What sized wheels are you working with? My XS mountain bike has 29” wheels and I prefer not to have the back wheel extend into the living space for long trips. It’s doable by putting the bike in cross wise but I also loosen handlebars to go parallel with bike to allow for more storage space.

Hi! Thanks for watching and for your question. Both stumpjumpers we put in the van have 29 inch wheels, and they do stick into the living area of this van a little bit as you see in the video. The gravel bike was 650b and the fat bikes were a mix, one had 26x4 and the other 27.5x3.8. All did protrude different amounts into the living area.

Thanks for the additional info and for doing this video. I don’t think there is anything else available like it with your detail, comparing different kinds of bikes and attachment options and certainly not specifically for the Pocket. I will be watching it multiple times to make sure I catch everything!
