9:55 the way the camera zoomed toward your character's fist as he began the riposte animation unironically looked sick as hell, when you fell straight to the the bottom of the well while punching saulden in the face looked like a sick anime finisher move
This run is absolutly amazing, i didn't finished the video yet, but the iron keep trouble and the 6 baby jumps in a row where, for some reason, the funniest thing that i seen in this year soo far
Iron keep can be a major pain between the enemies having infinite aggro range and the chests placed on lava floors which i have no idea how to prevent cause my fire defence rings do nothing
@@Willzb-xk4ew stack all the fire defense you can, rings, armor, and i forget whether flash sweat or water pots give you more resistance, but yeah. Its possible to get the chest and not die, but boy is it stupid.
I think lore-wise, Shulva’s poison is overflowing into Black Gulch. The Rotten is in a poison area, but not a poison boss. Sinh is the poison boss that relates to the poison in Black Gulch.
Incredible as it may sound : there are actually multiple poison areas. In this case you’re assailed from all angles by poison spitting statues, hardly wouldn’t qualify as a poison area.
really liked this format of video, so many cool challenge runs locked behind vods and this is so much more manageable and entertaining from a YT perspective
The downside is that there were sooo many funny moments from this run that were cut because of it. I think that if the video was like 30 minutes longer, it'd be a bit better.

Literally the only game in the franchise that tried to do new things and even vary gameplay, I for one enjoyed the slower paced more methodical gameplay from DS2. Too bad the rabid fans made sure to shit on it so much that Formsoft stopped trying and even reverted good changes when they made DS3.
@Shuls, literally all the games have “tried new things”, DeS is a whole new game that posed the very foundations of the genre, hardly “not trying new things”, DS1 brought estus flasks, a continuous world, bonfires, fleshed out miracles (even if it wasn’t nearly enough), developed sorceries and pyromancies much further than DeS, added midroll, as well as all sorts of out of the box ideas like vagrants or miracle resonance, BB if you count it as part of the series also added a bunch of things, trick weapons, firearms, breakable limbs, gems, dungeons, etc, DS3 is the only one where admittedly there wasn’t much “innovation” proper going on, but it’s not like it didn’t do anything to mix up the formula established by DS1 and DS2, like improved special abilities of weapons, multiple hybrid spell tools, bringing back the mana system, breaking estus into ashen and regular, and the fact that it focused on refining instead of innovating without a proper plan in mind allowed it to bring the series to a new height in terms of boss combats, unlike DS2 that had the laziest possible approach to innovation “throw everything at the wall and see what sticks”. Innovation has to be tempered and restrained, not let loose without any limit, otherwise you end up with a buggy unfinished game that is completely over sized for the capabilities of your console and massively behind the schedule which forces you to replace the lead developer midway through.
Also saying that DS2 had “slow” gameplay if your basis for comparison is DS1 and DeS makes absolutely no sense at all, overall when your ADP is at normal level the game is just as if not faster than both of those, the only difference is that the enemies are clunkier due to weird end of animations where they’ll get stuck in their poses for a good half a second to second more than the mobs in the previous games, and due to weird timing for them to get back to attacking once they got out of that pose, like for Heide knights or alone knights etc. I agree rabid fans are bad, maybe you shouldn’t act like one.
@@nathanjora7627 Ironic that you tried to uno reverse me with the "rabid fan" thing while you are the one posting 2 essays as to why DS2 is the worst game in the franchise kek Just so we are clear I have over 1k hrs in DS1 & DS2 while I have over 500hrs in DS3 and I dont think any of them is a bad game. Also I'm sorry but DS2 does have the best boss fights in the franchise like Sir Alonne, Fume Knight or Darklurker.
@@JulioDRai Before responding to your message, there's one thing I'm genuinely curious about : what good thing has From walked back on in DS2, that was the target of lots of complaints, and couldn't just as easily be attributed to miyazaki taking the reins and going back to what he did in DS1 and DeS simply because those are the games he made ? "while you are the one posting 2 essays as to why DS2 is the worst game in the franchise kek" And that's where you've shown your hand : at no point I did that. I said two things, 1) that all the games save maybe for DS3 innovated pretty much to the same degree or much more than DS2, 2) that the way DS2 had to "innovate" was lazy and lead to many problems. Those problems are all objective issues, we know that trying to go too big too fast without any restraint is what messed over DS2's development and forced from to replace the first lead with a second one that straightened it all up. Even if DS2 was the best game in the whole series, it'd still be true. "Also I'm sorry but DS2 does have the best boss fights in the franchise like Sir Alonne, Fume Knight or Darklurker." Haha, real funny, no. It has SOME of the best, like those you cited, though amusingly Alonne especially has the massive end animation lag I was talking about earlier, but besides the fact that two thirds of those you cited are DLC bosses, DS3 just has much more of fights of this level of quality, dancer, champion, NK, dragonslayer armor, twin princes, SoC, and pontiff, and I didn't even have to go to the DLCs, otherwise I could've cited a strong contender for best boss in the series, namely Gael, as well as the almost universally agreed upon best dragon in the series, midir (I personally prefer kalameet and sinh, but midir is at the very least the first dragon to get the scale of a dragon fight right whilst also having engaging gameplay, unlike ancient dragon). Btw before you think I'm simping for DS3 : I'm not, DS1 and DeS are my favourite souls games, with... Probably BB and ER coming second, and those games have their fair share of issues (no poise in DeS, awkward rolls for both DeS and DS1, repeated bosses in DS1, etc).

you're an absolute mad man doing this run! great job man! watching this makes me wanna retry doing an sl1 run on the original ds2; and that it's possible despite the hitboxes, adp and, keyboard and mouse controls...
Unless the keyboard and mouse is part of this challenge you are talking about then I dont see why you cant just use a controler... Also adp isnt a problem if you arent doing some self imposed run where you specifically dont level up and even go so far as to skip character creation, I've done plenty of runs with base adp and its not an issue.
@@herschelruskin432 That sucks but thats not really a ds2 issue its more of a jp developer issue since they first and foremost develop their games for console so they will always play better with a controller. Pretty sure he does Attunement Glitch, where he attune spell with the most cast and then swap it with Forbidden Sun the moment loading screen start. It's hard to describe in text, so try searching "Dark Souls 2 Attunement Glitch" and you should find the answer. I use this to get like 20+ Crystal Soul Spear. As a heads up, PC version only.
Isn't the strat for that room in DLC2 with an Idol and a horde of enemies to just destroy the idol and then while the mobs are staggered open the gate? Never had much difficulty with it.
fun fact: sentinels can be easily pooped you need just about 3 hits to poop a sentinel and that deals just about 1.5k damage (they have just about 2k hp so that is pretty huge) you can also poison them with a single cast of poison mist (provided they stay in the cloud for its entire duration) and that'd deal another 1.1k damage but I think that may be too slow
The reason the Jester pants scuffed your jumps is because if you don't meet the stat requirements for a piece of armor it screws up your dodge and jumps.

That's a lot of damage!

I tried a SL1 run in Dark Souls 2 a while ago, I gave up when I reached Shrine of Amana.
The fact that you did it at -44 is just... borderline masochistic? But also impressive. You sir, definitely have the patience of a saint.
SL1 isn't that bad, especially with the peasant set, the only hard part were Throne watcher and defender imo

This run is absolutly amazing, i didn't finished the video yet, but the iron keep trouble and the 6 baby jumps in a row where, for some reason, the funniest thing that i seen in this year soo far

Fun fact, as shown by GamersWeekend in his pyromancy only run, The Rotten (ya know, the boss of the poison area) can actually be poisoned.
I think lore-wise, Shulva’s poison is overflowing into Black Gulch. The Rotten is in a poison area, but not a poison boss. Sinh is the poison boss that relates to the poison in Black Gulch.
He can be poisoned, but he has a poison resist of 999. That's the highest it can go, and means that poisoning him takes forever.
maybe your confused but ill just go with ,and your point? its not mytha 🤷♂️thats the area of poison .
Incredible as it may sound : there are actually multiple poison areas.
In this case you’re assailed from all angles by poison spitting statues, hardly wouldn’t qualify as a poison area.
It's also surrounded by fire yet not fire resistant

Finally a challenge run video that isn’t just a guy summarizing the run in the most boring way possible without showing any deaths

God, I love DS2. So much to legitimately complain about and yet so fun.
@@nathanjora7627 Ironic that you tried to uno reverse me with the "rabid fan" thing while you are the one posting 2 essays as to why DS2 is the worst game in the franchise kek
Just so we are clear I have over 1k hrs in DS1 & DS2 while I have over 500hrs in DS3 and I dont think any of them is a bad game.
"while you are the one posting 2 essays as to why DS2 is the worst game in the franchise kek"
And that's where you've shown your hand :
at no point I did that.
"Also I'm sorry but DS2 does have the best boss fights in the franchise like Sir Alonne, Fume Knight or Darklurker."
Haha, real funny, no.
Love this game. Brings back great memories. Great video!

I know this is an old video but are you really the face model for Stay Out of the House? That would be awesome
God I love DS2! I need to watch some of your Elden Ring videos now.
Isn't the strat for that room in DLC2 with an Idol and a horde of enemies to just destroy the idol and then while the mobs are staggered open the gate? Never had much difficulty with it.
fun fact: sentinels can be easily pooped
you need just about 3 hits to poop a sentinel and that deals just about 1.5k damage (they have just about 2k hp so that is pretty huge)
you can also poison them with a single cast of poison mist (provided they stay in the cloud for its entire duration) and that'd deal another 1.1k damage but I think that may be too slow
I know it's been a year but I'd love to see a -44 level run with the ring of champions as your "weapon"
Nice video as always, cheers from Germany 🎶✌
ok but how did you do that skip at the beginning to skip character creation? is it possible on console? I 100% want to do this challenge.
You should've probably killed najka twice with bonfire ascetic, to get 3 attunement slots
You are a living legend Man!!!
Didn't know you had a UA-cam, subbed!
This run showed things that I didn't even know after 1k-2k hours. granted most of it was pvp that I played but still
I hope puddleglumm is proud of themself and able to come out without fear nor shame !
DO SOMETHING! *mytha poke
Chat roleplaying as rats was really funny.
Love you dist stay safe
2:25 is a serious sotfs moment lmao
The reason the Jester pants scuffed your jumps is because if you don't meet the stat requirements for a piece of armor it screws up your dodge and jumps.
I just found this channel- absolutely great nn
55:46 seleca9 I hate you. The ds1 soundtrack is fucking beautiful. Gargoyles and battle of stoicism are my favorite
Distortion 2 is the Ds2 KING.
Press continue did this run without stat boosting gear meaning he did a true -44 run
