- It's the time of fall when garlic is ready to plant. It's such an easy process and one of the easiest plants to grow in the garlic. I'm a huge proponent of growing garlic, so I hope you plant and grow some this year! I also had a bit of a mishap with some of the pots on my back patio. It was my fault but it was still very unfortunate!

Kaleb, 4 years ago, I planted garlic for the first time, and you are so right about it becoming addictive! Now, I need to check at a couple different local (within 30 miles from me) garden centers to see if I can find a new variety that I want to try. I'll be planting my garlic in early October, using what I harvested this year and some that I purchased. It's so satisfying to see it emerge in the spring and grow into mature plants. And harvesting garlic scapes adds to the wonder of planting garlic!

Because of my area, I won't be planting garlic until late October/early November (I live in Vegas). While I have grown a bulb or two in the past, this will be my first attempt at trying to get more than just a few. I have a very small area and have some flowering plants for bees and hummingbirds, four dwarf citrus trees, lots of herbs, and finally I'll be trying garlic. This is really helpful and I now know what type of nutrients I'll need to get when I'm ready to plant.

My 2 raised beds are 10' long, 4' wide and 4 & 1/2' tall so I do not really need to bend over. I sit on the tall side boards and tend it that way. Bad spine & knees 😢. However, not wanting to use cured lumber (could not afford any better than pine wood 😟) so no chemicals would leach into the soil and plants. But...now 3 years later the boards have rotted 😭. I can not afford to rebuild. So sadly frustrating.

In Idaho we have to buy certified garlic. To make sure they dont have any bad bugs. That would devistate the potato crops.

Ahhhhh…. I use my Gator too as a potting bench!!! I was going to get an actual potting bench but then thought why??!! The gator is so versatile & mobile 😊
So you don't want it to grow too much, but you're stimulating the roots. Makes perfect sense.
Would you plant soft neck garlic in the fall also? Or just hard neck?
Size up on your pot or cut the jade in half IMHO. Thank you for the awesome videos you do!

Love it! I just planted garlic for the first time. I chose a Chesnok Red (hard neck) and a California soft neck. Curious to compare them. I’m zone 6B so not sure about the soft. (But I so want to try garlic braiding 😂). Thanks for another great video!
Aah kaleb sorry you had disasters nature can be unforgiving I have disasters too sometimes burnt cookies recipes go wrong etc etc keep smilin 😊❤️❤️❤️

Love it! Planning to get my garlic in the ground in October (Zone 7b). I would love a video on your Asparagus patch. I planted a full bed of it this year. It’s growing great, but no harvest yet. I’ve read it’s best to wait unti the 3rd year. I really need to learn more!

This happened to me a couple of times this summer. Wind and storms whipped my plants all over the place. But their all repotted and thriving since I cleaned up. I hear ya…it’s sad. Pots are expensive today too

Ok I’m in Quebec, zone 4b, and live in a 3rd floor apartment. You say we can grow these in containers. In my case, really? If so, what size container do you suggest. i was maybe thinking one of those bag containers that I would install near the house maybe, not out in the wind. Suggestions please

Does anyone have a good recommendation on potting soil for indoor plants? I wanted to purchase Espoma but a number of reviews mentioned that theirs was infested with fungus gnats. I had a similar issue with Miracle Grow. It took me two years to finally get rid of the gnats and I am deathly 😬 afraid of starting the cycle over again.
My son bought me a bag of garlic. Which I never buy. So might as well plant them up and see what happens. If they grow great if not they were going in the trash anyways. Zone 6a.
