For the last 14 years, the Venezuelan president Hugo Chávez has been one of the most charismatic and controversial leaders in the world. This video pulls together some of Hugo Chávez's most memorable speeches and moments in his political career, from his verbal attacks on President George Bush to his support for Fidel Castro
greetings from palestine rest in peace chavez
No wonder palestine is a failed state you respect a autocratic populist like Chavez.
You people deserve the governments you have, you are perfect where you are.
You think that he deserves peace, no wonder you have only seen war and death

Why can’t the Guardian make a video on what he has done for Venezuela instead of his speeches that doesn’t give me any insight to what he has done. Isn’t this country in an economic crisis?
that is ALL im asking!?!
the crisis happened after his death and once Maduro took his place. Countries started to tighten their sanctions against the new government which caused a huge economic decline for the county.
Daniel Chavez yes but his economic policies (Chavez) that is based the countries Economy all on oil and when oil crashed so did the economy he never invested in any other industries that might keep the economy afloat during and after his presidency
@@nathanzamecki800 I don`t know, however, that is exclusively a leftist issue. Bad governance for sure.
What?
Gracias!
RIP From Indonesia. even though my stupid government doesnt send official condolences to All Venezuelans, Some Indonesians and me would like to send condolences to His family and Venezuelans who feel lost of His death.

This man I dont know where he is but he disrespected Israel and the next day he died
This guy had balls to stand up to the CIA. He was a populist. But boy did he destroy his Venezuela"s economy.
Look at Venezuela now
Leftist don't look at the results of socialist policies, they move ahead.
Venezuela had an economic miracle under Chavez though. Standard of livings went way up under him
@@gilbertodelavega359 until he ripped the fabric of Venezuela’s democracy. It’s called democratic backsliding. It’s happening in America too.
That has nothing to do with Chavez. It's because of US sanctions against Venezuela.
Miss you comrade

@El Lobo Hugo Chavez was a russian puppet.

Wow, absolutely fabulous, had never heard these speeches. I loved it, specially the one with my favorite leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad! Epic
condolences from algeria for all venezuelans. ..hugo is a brave man good bye boss...
I value the fact that people can share and discuss opinions freely. That's why, out of respect for my fellow Venezuelans who can't do it in their own country without being subject to harassment or violence, I'd like to ask to take a minute and think if you really know what you're talking about when you discuss Chavez's legacy. Unless you lived in Venezuela before Chavez came to power and understand Spanish, I'm sorry to say that your opinion can only be either misinformed or incomplete
Red Salute Comrade From India
Apparently his daughter is the richest woman in Venezuela. I wonder how that happened.
Apparently.........
What a legend
you make me lough... 6.500.000 say no to him, we say not to reelection and he did a mew referendum, thats is not democracy, almost half of Venezuela say not to comunism and 20 years os disgrase.
In this video there are some great scenes, but it lacks the memorable poetry that Chavez recited with so moving passion and sentiment. Also could be included the October, 4th meeting, with 3 million people, I'm sure the greatest manifestation of people at all times.
A Great Man !

mcpolleter have you been to other countries? are u from a middle class, rich class?, where was Venezuela before his presidency?
"Ruin a country". By what means, do you know anything that Chavez did?
He improved the conditions of his people exponentially. If 'ruining a country' means evening the income differences by the little expense of the elite, and thus decreasing GDP a little, for the wellbeing of Venezuela's own folk, then yes he did.
A good leader should prefer his people over foreign trade.
five years people starving on the streets....yep he made it better
Responding to brahim119. This is what you see on this video but you might not know the History of Venezuelan politics or the Venezuelan people. I grew up in Venezuela and lived theer most of my life before Chavez, and Education has always been free and it was much more higher quality than it is now.

uhm.. I'm Venezuelan. There's plenty of context. I don't want to play the blame game. I just believe that society functions best when opinions are respected and oppositions and government can find common ground and work from there. There is definitely none of that.. very sad.
Dam people, what is the truth? I want to believe he was a good man. Please if you don't know for sure please don't post back. I don't want to hear opinions or what you heard on the mainstream media please.

Has recibido el gobierno y economia que mareces. Ojala que tus nietos te puedan perdonar por tu estupidez.

More from my comment...it was to long for only one post:There has been famous Venezuelan scientists, musicians, writers, artists, etc., to prove that. Healthcare was always free and good (I was a doctor in Venezuela) Now people can only get good healthcare in private hospitals because the "free" one hardly have beds, people are on the floor covered with blankets waiting to be treated.
I personally invite Mr. Penn and Mr. Stone to move to Venezuela for a month and live like a true venezuelan, with minimum salary, no insurance, no body guards, and no especial treatment from the government. I wonder if they'll make it. Will they still love Chavez after that? If you accept my invitation, I promise, I'll pray for you so you don't get abducted, robbed, killed, etc, in the process. Thank you! P.S. Bring all your friends who support Chavez, I am sure they'll love their little treat.
Venezuelan loves Chavez

What do you know about me? My whole family lives there and I lived there for a huge part of my life. I'm old enough to know what damage that man has done to my country, I'm old enough to see the sadness in the faces of my own family, and I'm young enough to know that nobody my age should have to worry so much about the safety of their own family in a country where "democracy" rules. Thanks but no thanks.
you must live in dictatorship country right now.
yeah, but every country would have low employment, roads with holes, delinquency, inflation, power and water shortages, difficulty to find products, miserable salaries, policies that sell arms and buy drugs, 20.000 murdered people each year, thefts and kidnappings, and more terrible things that no country would deserve...the world would be a complete chaos if more presidents were like him!!!
He is like the duterte of philippine s respect to this man.
