I heard of a friend whose house burned in the Paradise fire in 2018. He asked for a garbage bag as he wanted to go back and see what he could find in his house. He came back after a couple of hours (when it was allowed to go back in) and came out with an empty bag. When fire goes through at those degrees of heat, there is nothing left. Twisted burnt metal. All pictures, photo albums all gone. Burn washer and dryers, melted. He and his wife, have moved on. But there is nothing to pick up after a fire. People wish they could have stopped a few moments to pick up something, but it was to late. The fire spread wildly and their lives were in danger. People I know whose homes burned down, had a two go bag, ready near their main exist of the house. In it was enough food and water, important papers, a picture of who they were, legal documents, and clothes. (NOT A FULL SUITCASE LIKE) Just enough to get through a few days or weeks. They had two go bags for the kids, the pets, and money. Like $300.00 in dollar bills.

we are fire survivors in Sonoma's wine country in 2020 ... we went back after 2 weeks - when they let us in. IT's so TOXIC. Not worth sifting. And here's the truth. Who will want to live in a burnt out zone. It's been five years since our fire and I can tell you that it looks really bad, not much better than right after the fire (the trees are all gone and lots of dead trees standing) so the value of the land is very depressed. Properties that went through the fire are NOT moving - even for discounted prices.

Whats with all the suits? Get in and get dirty. At this rate it will never be cleaned up. All the concern over the lost stuff is true. Imagine the hurricane areas that had tens of thousands of homes and cars picked up and literally washed out in to the Gulf of America. Fight with insurance companies about the fact that the stuff is nit there. Can you prove you had those items??? We suffered worse. I am not downplaying the fire damage and loss. It is awful. The Leaders there need to be replaced with competent people. Now, pick some areas to dig big holes, then get the big crushing machines in there to pulverize the debris, get dozens, grind it then go fill in the holes. Move on. Be proud Americans. Get dirty. Some people have fireproof safes and boxes they might like to find. Maybe there are some basements where things survived too.

Yeah, you do…you just don’t need to show them at the polls, because in order to register to vote in CA, you must provide an approved form of identification such as a driver’s license or passport.
Not saying they have a perfect system over there, but to say you don’t need any kind of identification whatsoever to vote in CA would be incorrect.
And for whatever it’s worth, they’re only asking these people for their IDs so they don’t have a bunch of outsiders going in trying to loot or take advantage of the situation.
