I find mine very slow. loads from the hard drive like your friends. I did the TFdisk 3 test's and it failed on every test. I am still looking into why the ide is so slow. My amiga 500 loaded alot faster with my supraturbo 28 and my original cpu and supra 500xp drive with an sd card adaptor. did you find any info on the ide part of the terrible fire 536 ?

My buddy likes to run MUI, magicWB, etc. All these things slow down the boot. I prefer vanilla installs which boot a lot faster.

Does the addon board have a SCSI LVD connection if so what about a SCSI_LVD to SATA Adapter and use a 256GB SSD.

Thank you for the great vid, think Hdd is only supported on kickstart 2.0 and onwards, also have you seen the PuStorm 68k replacement? and what are your thoughts on it? I’m looking into it as I think it’s cheap and maybe better then all the expensive add ons for the A500

PiStorm is a Raspberry Pi you put in your Amiga. Some purists say that running your Amiga off a RasPi isn't the proper way to experience retro. I don't care so much, but I guess I slightly prefer a 680x0 based accelerator.

Oh, and 1.3 does support HDD booting, it was 1.2 that didn't. Check my channel for 2+ vids about two a500 HDD controllers. Both boot from 1.3 KS.

Was thinking the same thing, but it’s only emulating the cpu and stuff, your still using the old hardware 🤔 thinks for the tip on 1.3 I will try it 👍 i’m On 2.0 at the moment.

Yeah that CF adapter is probably an earlier revison like VH1, when you buy these CF to IDE adapters then only get the VH.2 revison these will work out of the box and the LED too no modding rquired this is regarding the TF330 though as I do not build the TF536 but my guess is that CF adapter you bought is faulty as they do have a fail rate. did you try it in the TF330 ?
Still a grteat vid as it will help other TF536 owners with some fault finding

No, I didn't, but the 536 and the 330 should be the same. The ones with "B1" seem to be the ones that don't work. FYI They don't work in an a1200 either, so more of an Amiga requirement rather than something special about the TF boards. I ordered a new V.H2 on Amazon and it works (link in the description).

Haha you can revive CD32 boards but cant get a CF adaptor the right way around. I think you just needed to do some due diligence by checking pictures or simple pin out diagrams on the net before even plugging the adapter into the cable. A) it would have solved all your problems and B) possibly prevented breaking a CPLD or the adapter itself because you put 5v down the ground line.

Remember, the CF adapter was backwards as received. Also, I did try looking online for the orientation in relation to the TF536. As stated in the vid, most seem to have a right angle CF adapter that you can't put in backwards. I also mention that you can safely reverse IDE cables without damage to components. It's a long vid, so I don't blame you for missing details :)
