Brother West this was a special one. Sooo special to have Brother D & little Blair Bear come up for the night after a big drive. We slowed everything down… Put our hiking boots on and really connected with some magnificent backcountry magic. The next adventure cant come soon enough 💚💚🤠🤠
@@sterling_garden_services haha thanks legend 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 wayyyy too kind. My brothers and I have been chasing the magic for yearssss together…. This one was a little more in my lane haha…. Slowing it down and chasing a little more of the incredible history & culture that’s so rich in our awe inspiring High country 💚💚💚🤠🤠🤠
There is nothing quite like the Victorian High Country in the late spring and early summer, I have great memories of the epic two and three day trail rides we did way back in the late 70's. Hope this country stays open for ever.
It’s unreal isn’t it. Very lucky to have it on our doorstep Doing it on horseback would actually be an unreal way to see it there is some great trails the cattlemen pushed in
Ive seen a few posts in facebook groups explaining king billy, and most say it is a basalt block stream that was laid down during volcanic activity in the Aust alps and dates back to the last ice age somewhere in the Pleistocene (>10,000yrs ago). Ice flow broke up the basalt and as the climate warmed up during the Holocene Age, the sediments/smaller material were washed away to the lower lands
That on king billy is called the rock rivers , it’s volcanic, first big one you come to there is a big Boulder in the middle and there use to be a tree growing out of a crack in it , have ran a dozer all the way down king billy a few years ago , great country
Awesome upload as always legends! It just goes to show, that by seeing the High country out of a 4x4 is a small portion of what's really out there to be seen on foot. Just curious, what track were you on, at the boulder fields? You mentioned King Billy. I remember Tim Bates talking about them rocks once. Would love to go for a scope next time I'm out that way. Cheers!
There is so much up there to see its incredible. Adding in the 4wding and its a playground for all hey. All the things you need to get to on foot are so pristine also cause the dick heads don't get out there which is a bonus too. Yeah that track was king Billy track. Starts not far after howitt hut on the howitt Plains Rd and links over to the Mansfield way. Nice little drive
Thanks mate, sure was a cracking trip. Racin is the man you want up there when doing all the epic sights he absolutely loves it. Hanging to get back out there already
great vid guys - we were on King Billy last week and went past those rocks another guy we were up there with was there with a geologist last year the rocks are result of an earthquake thousands of years ago and fell down the mountain to where they are today amazing place
How good is that drive along King Billy Must have been 1 all mighty quake to move all those rocks. So impressive. Would be great to have a chat with the geologist
Cheers mate, was a cracker trip this. You would tow a camper no worries at all around those tracks to see all this. Even in the wet wouldn't be a drama as there is nothing to hard or steep.
Bloody awesome once again fella's 👏 you're content and footage gets better every time. I'm hoping one day i get the chance to explore the VHC like you blokes 🍻😉
Ah thanks mate that's much appreciated that comment. We are just trying to learn and better each one we do. There is so much to see down here put it on the list and get down and explore
Always enjoy your vids....did the waterfall walk last year and nearly got pegged by a fiesty tiger snake laying on track between falls..would have been interesting 😬.... Came through King Billy track a few weeks back and was also intrigued by the mountain side of rocks..hope someone has some answers..
Those bloody tigers, I had one go at the wife when we walked the prom missed her by millimetres some how so lucky. They angry buggers. The consensus seems to be volcanic/ice age origin of all that which makes it even more impressive
Awesome video guys I see you round must be local to me. I frequent the VHC but generally solo mid week. How many days would you recommend for this exact trip again going on the hikes, taking it slow... Cheers
Cheers mate yeah we are officer and langwarrin Mid weeks definitely the time to head up there hey get it majority to your self. 3 full days but if you can squeeze a extra night in and do 3 nights you would be laughing

That seems to be the most popular theory volcanic/earthquake causing it. Bloody impressive how it all comes about

Epic waterfalls aren't they, well worth the effort to get into them. The roast tasted as good as it looked 😋
