Swedish actually has a lot of words that are spelled the same, but pronounced differently and then mean totally different things.
We also have pitch-accent, which makes our language sound "sing-songy" to foreigners.
We have a lot of loan-words from both German and French, especially more modern inventions. Other than that, Swedish is a north-germanic language. So, a sort of cousin of German and English, but with our own style. Danish and Norwegian are also similar, as our languages all originate from Old Norse.

If you ride the subway in Stockholm too long, you'll end up at the slutstation, but now that won't confuse you. =)

The R before an N in standard swedish accent is pronounced like a bit of a different N, (you pronounce the n with the tip of your tounge further back in your mouth than if it wasn't an R before the N). And yes we can hear the difference even if you cannot. (also in very quick syllables we do indeed skip the R before an N, we swedes do indeed drop out an awful lot of R's). We do the same thing with R before an D or a T as well. Mostly, there are a couple of exceptions, so for example in the word "absurd" (which means absurd in swedish) we do indeed pronounce the R even though the general rule would be to contract the "R" and the "D" into a slightly different kind of D-sound.

I forgot the most obvious example here. Because it's the same deal with an R before and S too. Basically it translates to sounding like an 'sh'. So the word "kors" (meaning cross) for example, is pronounced like 'kosh' in most accents of swedish.

Really intresting that you noticed that he didn’t pronouns the r in for word ”Händerna”. This is typical for swedish dialcts, some dialects don’t pronounce the r’s, and some use strong r’s and some rolls them.

    Funny video!
However, swedish and norweigan is the easyest language to learn for english speaker!
Its probably the same for swedes, norweigans, danes and dutch.. to learn english.. our languages is close relatives.. especialy on how to put up a scentens!
Whatch out for "false friends" in words I mean, talked to a english speaker yesterday (in swedish) about spring and gardening, he couldnt find the right word.. say it in english, "seed", its frö in swedish, but we altso have the word säd, thats grains in english!
Seed has the same origin as säd, but have shifted meaning when our languages have shifted away!
If one like to buy a beer in sweden, one buy an "Öl", it have the same origin as english "Ale"!
