Holy crap! The ONLY clue that his book cover is a picture of his layout and not a real crossing is the "air line" below the KD coupler on the caboose. Absolutely AMAZING!
I have been a big fan of model trains and there layouts ever since I was a little girl my grandfather has one that goes around our Christmas tree every year keep up the good work and keep the videos coming ok
Thank you so much. Model railroading is such a great hobby and I'm glad you enjoy it. Thanks for watching! Stay tuned for some more content in December!
Yes, Mr. Lagno has created some beautiful scenes. I agree on the sloped roadways. You don't see that often on layouts. It definitely reminds me of Pennsylvania too! Thanks for watching!
Astounding scenery!!! He gets details that many miss (based upon my YT viewing). I spent my whole adult life experiencing the wilderness up close as an advanced rock climber. I am even featured in 6 books on the subject 😊. Now that I am getting older (60) and toning it down abit, I decided to migrate from The World's Greatest Sport to The World's Greatest Hobby. So when I started studying the layouts of others, the first thing I look at is the scenery. This layout nails forests extremely well (and cracks in the asphalt-touche!) Many dead trees and downed branches. When I see rocks, I should want to climb them. I hope my first completed Model Rail Road captures that feeling.
Yes, Mr. Lagno has created beautiful scenery and has not missed any details. It is truly remarkable! Thanks for watching! Happy Railroading and rock climbing!
You were lucky to get a visit and thanks for sharing your photos. I have admired Fred’s work for years and as you stated, it never fails to amaze. It’s inspiring and makes me a better modeller.

The time spent on detailing and weathering really brings that layout to life in my mind's eye. - An inspiration to apply to my own HO layout ! Well done and thank you for sharing !
Mr. Zane, thanks so much for checking out the video! I shared your comment with Mr. Fred and this was his response: "I haven't seen Howard in some time. He's a fantastic modeler and a great guy. We had a lot in common. Many years ago Howard repossessed airplanes. He would sneak out and steal the airplanes to return to the finance company. 😁" One of my coworkers had an autographed copy of your book about your layout. He knew I was into model railroading and he let me borrow it for a bit. I am blown away by the craftsmanship, size and level of detail of your layout! It is fantastic!!! And you have modeled the area, time period and railroads that I am looking to model with my O gauge layout I am working on. I would be honored if at some point I could meet you and tour your layout and maybe take a video of it for my UA-cam channel. I am inspired by your work. Thank you! - Michael
Well sir, I've not had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Lagno. But I must say, Sir, you are the Michelangelo of scenic realism with your railroad. I was getting "homesick" just takin; the tour of your town and country venue. I notice the characters sprinkled around in various locations, and I just seem to kinda hear 'em talkin' "job stuff". The trees, the old buildings, the trackage, the old locos of the different roads, and some of the old '''work worn" rolling stock. It just makes me wanna just come right over and touch an' feel 'em, and maybe just catch a ride goin' somewhere that only the engineer would know. Magnificent just doesn't seem to be adequate to describe how I like your work. Thank you, thank you. You've made my day.
I am so glad I have been able to bring Mr. Lagno's layout to you! I hope he is able to see and read these comments. I could not have said it better myself. Those are my sentiments exactly! Thanks so much for watching!!
And likewise, I thank you for providing Mr. Lagno's layout videos to us old codgers. I'm in my 80s, and I've had a couple or more "electric train" set-ups, but none as exceptional as this one. @@Alleghenycrossing
I am currently building a European train layout, however, every time I see these beautiful American layouts, it is almost like I am visiting the U.S. and admiring the awesome nature 🇮🇹🇺🇸.
That's awesome!! I don't know very much about European railroads but I would like to learn more. Glad you enjoyed Mr. Lagno's layout. Thanks for watching! Happy Railroading!
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it. Be sure to check out the Part 2 video I did where I interviewed Mr. Lagno and filmed an operating session. Here is the link. ua-cam.com/video/SiFkdHxEoQw/v-deo.htmlsi=2qJ0bmjAFGa-nb-M
This is a true master class work ! The trees were so realistic it was ridiculous! Everything looked natural ! And the presentation style is the best I have ever seen. The pictures were left up just enough to gaze and take in all the finer detail. Whet you switched to video you kept the camera still and let the train move through the shot ! Well done !
Thank you! It was a pleasure having the opportunity to film Mr. Lagno's layout. I enjoy watching my footage as much as being there because I see something new everytime I watch it. Thanks for watching!
As someone who lives here on the Delmarva Peninsula & keeps tabs on the local modeling scene I have not heard about this layout. Mr. Lagno’s layout looks amazing. I wonder if he will have any open houses for a viewing during the upcoming holiday season…
Thanks for following along! Mr. Lagno just had an open house on November 4th which is when I went to see his layout for the first time. I found out about it by checking out www.modelrailroadopenhouse.com. It doesn't look like he has any more scheduled for this year, but that could always change. I will let you know if I hear of any other open houses!
Living in West Virginia All my Life except my 4 Years in the US Navy it's always great to see Appalachian Model Railroads. This one is lovely. We try to model ours with alot of WV. Just found your Channel and Subbed.
That's a truly superb layout. We have a long way to go to be within a million miles away with ours. But being as we are in the UK, ours is a UK based layout, which my grandson has started filming for his Dylington Model Railway channel. Thank you for sharing, James 🙂👍
Your welcome, thanks for watching! I just subscribed to your channel. I love your railway, it is beautiful! I don't know as much about European railways but I will be following along and hopefully learn a thing or two! Happy Railroading!
@Alleghenycrossing Thank you for subscribing and your comments, as my grandson(11) is involved with the railway, and he posts the videos we do have the comments turned off for his protection. As he gets older, we may turn them on. There is an APP called The Railway Modellers Club, which I am on, which whilst mainly consists of UK railway models. However, there are a few Railroad Modellers on there. But it's well worth a look as there is some great modelling on there. Thank you again for subscribing, and I hope you continue to enjoy our videos. As you will have seen, we don't take ourselves too seriously and try to entertain a little bit with the videos. We've subscribed to your channel, James 🙂👍
I'm 73 years old and about to start building my 4th and last HO model railroad. I'm a retired building and remodeling contractor here in Middletown CT. I also build electronic DC model railroad custom projects. I would love to see some of photography work?

No, I don't usually read off cue cards, but I would like to try it sometime. I want to work on being more natural when I'm speaking. Thanks for watching!
I got to the open house towards the end and Mr. Lagno was only running a few trains at that time. There are a couple clips of running trains at the end of the video. Thanks for watching!
