As much as I love the Starship Trooper vibe from the UE in the sequel, I do miss the Dune vibe they had in the first. Seriously, just replace dust with spice and you may as well call him the Padishah Emperor.
I like how the United Empire were depicted in this one than the Endless Space 2 version. This one has more moral ambiguity while the other one clearly makes them look just evil.
itzdagamer Eh, not really. The intro was in the form of propaganda the UE shows its citizens in the second, but the moral ambiguity is still there when you read the quest text. Plus, you can become the Mezari, which were pretty much considered "good" since that's what they renamed the spacefaring Vaulters to.
I believe the Ue in ES2 is very lovely. While I cannot really play with them I love the design of them. The Emperor truly loves his Empire and the "Patriots" in it and does everything to make it a almost Paradise world.
The Mezari are not the good ones, becoming them means you have to open a massive human experimentation/torture facility to scare all of your citizens out of free thought or expression. ES2 just made them Space Nazis in the most cartoonish way possible, and it's lame in comparison.
Don't mind us, no matter in which universe and timeline we humans are in, we are still humans. Star wars, 40k, others. *Even in Startrek.* *We are just humans*
This reminds me of the joke: "the brain is the most important thing to ever exist" - the brain. It's hilarious because these are all written by us, humans, why the hell would we not be the main character?
I do love both versions of the Empire. Endless Space 1 is very Dune-like. Endless Space 2 is like a space-version of a WW1 /pre-WW1 era colonial empire.
both are ambiguous in the first one you get the point of view of a narator. in the endless space2 you get the point of view of the propaganda. both are ambiguous and can be seen as evil, or simply a bit too controled/interested
I know your comment is three years old, but the comic involving the UE tells/shows you just how heavy handed the UE on its fascist/communist vibes actually are; if the intros didn't reveal that already.

Well, we are just humans after all, is like the cycle of mankind. And that will either lead us to total destruction or survived, it was a risky path that we are going on.
@@matusjansta In ES1 you have the Amoeba, Pilgrims, Automatons and the Sophonity. These factions specialize in aspects which they could not achieve if it weren't for their semi-pacifist nature. That does not mean that they are weak. They are still capable of slaughtering their enemies, they just like to approach things differently usually and gain special benefits due to their empathy from forming alliances. What I'm trying to say is that as long as you specialize in some form of unification, annexation or expansion which does not necessarily come from war, you can form a pretty competent empire. The Amoeba are just smart and connected with the universe thanks to their meditative nature. The Sophonity are just insanely educated and capable in all technological aspects. The Automatons are... Well... I kinda forget the dudes, this is because they are barely present in ES2 and I didn't main them in ES1. And the Pilgrims are... Well... They're more busy studying stuff than fighting, but... Yes, we can pretend that all the wars we have waged had some sort of a deep meaning, it's totally not like we only did them because of overpopulation, incompetence or misunderstandings.

the Dust must flow!
Yeah, only it's Dune mixed with 40k imo, which was even more awesome.
I never got a starship trooper vibe from ES2 United Empire. Feels more like the love child of the Imperium of Man and Soviet Union to me.

It's a shame they toned down the aestetic for Endless Space 2, i liked the almost 40k wibe of the first one.
I feel like it’s still Warhammer-y. Still feels like a sleeker version of the Imperium of Man with more Starship Troopers vibes.

I much prefer this Dune version of UE. I mean, both version are the "best race", obviously, but this one is clearly better than the ES2 one.
