Making your own Non-dairy Cream Cheese couldn't be simpler! And unlike with store-bought vegan cream cheese - this doesn't have a bunch of stabilisers, colourings and unnecessary ingredients!
Tips For Making your own Vegan Cream Cheese:
    - Try to Use Plain Varieties of Plant Based or Non-Dairy Yoghurt & Milk.
    - For Firmer Textured Vegan Cream Cheese, leave to drain for a longer period of time
    - Make sure that your milk doesn't overheat or come to a boil as that affects how well it will curdle
    - Always add salt & vinegar or another type of acidity as those are crucial flavour components in making a vegan cream cheese that taste's as good as the original
    - Try to use Neutral Flavoured Plant-Based Milks for a more authentic Vegan Cream Cheese - varieties like coconut or hemp might be too overpowering
    - Don't be afraid to add your own seasonings & flavour to create a unique Non-dairy Cream Cheese that you'll love!
These are very basic recipes that you can customise to create a variety of different textures and flavours for your Vegan Cheese. I hope you found this tutorial helpful, and check out some of my other videos below!

    1liter (1 quart) soy milk
4 Tablespoon (1/4 cup) apple cider vinegar or lemon juice
In a pot heat milk on medium such that it does not come to a boil. Once it is heated through, remove from heat and add the vinegar or lemon juice and mix it in. Curdles should form immediately. Let the mixture cool down completely before straining it using muslin or cheesecloth placed in a strainer. Remove as much liquid as you can to make the cheese firmer.

Adding more liquid to the yogurt after draining out the liquid is what made the texture more like a crème fraîche than cream cheese. You can either mix the vinegar and the salt into the yogurt before straining it or leave the vinegar out altogether; you do not need any vinegar because the yogurt already has the tartness from being cultured :) That is what I do whenever I can't find plain vegan cream cheese at the market and it works perfectly. Good luck :)

I would recommend adding the chives after blending it, so that you still have the lovely chive pieces in tact 😉 Such a nice made video, well done!

    • @sady1139
      @sady1139 2 роки тому

I mean I guess it is like a soft tofu but the cooking method is the same as dairy cream cheese, soy milk and soy in general is cool like that, the proteins are able to coagulate and mimic diary proteins so similarly, it’s my go to milk for vegan/dairy free substitutes, the other ills work but just don’t hold up as well in certain recipes, like in this one, they wouldn’t make good cream cheeses

came here for the cream cheese found myself meditating to hypnosis for 12 minutes, I'm gonna come back here next time I have a stressful day. I'm not sure if the thumbs up is for the recipe or the voice but you're getting one anyway.

in our house the strained yogurt turns into greek yogurt not cream cheese. the second technique usually makes ricotta for us. I never thought of turning it into cream cheese but we will try it thx for the idea.

With the ingredient amounts you used for the second batch, how much would you say that made? About 8oz overall? I was going to use that recipe as a base to make honey pecan cream cheese, but I may cut it in half to make a smaller amount as it is just me eating it. Thank you for the video and your time.

I thought only dairy milk curdled with vinegar.
This is very interesting. I only have almond milk but will definitely try and see if this works with the milk I have.
Also this would be great for mac and cheese.
Update, yes this works with almond milk.

I followed the second recipe to the T (in my opinion) and my cream cheese looked more runny when I took it out of the cheesecloth, any idea why this might have happened? Will letting it sit in the fridge make it firm up more?
