    Can you say the battery brand? Have a good voyage!

      It’s a self built system. Based on Eve 280ah lithium cells, neey balancer and a custom bms. But if I built now I would go for the rec bms.

    Would wind to battery be practical?

      In my opinion wind generators are an old technology from before solar was a viable option. They only really start producing energy above 15-20kts of wind. Most of the time you are anchored with less wind. If sailing downwind, which you mostly do on a tradewind route, there is also little apparent wind. They are noisy! I can always hear them from other boats, imagine the sound and vibrations if it is on your own. They are expensive and take a big footprint. Most of the time people have them mounted in a way that they produce more shade on their solar panels than that the wind generator will produce. Last solar panels are a linear scale production wise. Twice the area twice the production. Wind generators work with the square law. Twice the blade area 4* the output. That’s why commercial wind generators are so huge. A small one on a boat only produces very little power. Look up their power ratings on the factory websites.

    Great video! - I have one question about your LiFePO 4 setup - is correct that you don't use a BMS ? (:

      I don't have a all in one bms. When I built this system there were very few on the market which I liked. So I put togehter the seperate parts to kind of built my own. I have high and low voltage alarms and can shut of the charge or load bus separately. The balancer is a Neey 4a balancer. Way better than what any bms comes with. This way I have way more control over the cells. I rather break a cell then have the boat go dark at an unexpected moment. Lithium cells are cheap these days.

    Did you build the solar arch in The Netherlands and if so where?

    • @Boatlifeisbest
      @Boatlifeisbest  День тому +1

      No it was built in Tunesia. Way better prices for stainless work than the Netherlands haha. It would have probably cost me 3-5 times as much in the Netherlands

      @Boatlifeisbest Yeah makes sense was also thinking about Tunesia if I find the Netherlands to expensive. Thanks 🙏
