    I'm leaving my Fedex courier job in 2 months burned out in handling 100+ stops a day. I've been researching this field over 2 years. I started my search in February 23 to buy a truck. Wanted a Kodiak with a crew cab so I could set up a sleeper area being I plan on doing 700 mile runs a day for 6 days a week then 3 days off. I registered with FMCSA in March and wow the mistakes I made what a headache it has been to change them. Now I just bout a truck 2 weeks ago in Mesa AZ I decided to go with a F550 07 Super Duty with a 6.0 Diesel engine The Kodiaks were way overpriced for the year in my opinion after losing on a awesome one I found TX crew cab with a sleeper for 29,500 in superior great shape. The F550 had to be registered as commercial and I had to get commercial insurance. This May 5th I go get the truck it has a flat bed and just a goose neck hitch which I plan on taking off and putting a 36,000 Lb rated 5th wheel hitch onto the bed. Then after I get things settled after I leave FedEx in July have 7 weeks of pay that floats me till August 17th, I need to get a car hauler trailer I have thought about just doing a 4-car then changed my mind to finding a 6-car hauler. Only income I will have is my main house plan on renting it out Being I bought another place to use as my dwelling and place to use for keeping the truck and trailer there. My goal is to haul 300 cars a year then park the truck and trailer for repairs so hoping that it will be parked during the winter season. So, for the other drivers out there November 20th- February 20-th you will have more business. If you have any suggestions how I can save on insurance let me know Progressive is charging me 7,600 a year just on the truck.

      How exciting. My insurance the first year was almost $20,000. Since I paid cash for my truck and trailer i insured both for less than their value the first year. The second year when my insurance cost decreased I increased truck and trailer coverage. I only pay $5,400 a year now.

      Hello well now I have the F550 in the driveway. I might have made a impulsive buy on a Kaufman Pro series VI easy load I seen on a auction website lot of surface rust the diamond grate is needing replaced in many areas the hydraulics are missing tires need replaced who knows about the brakes and bearings. This has electric brakes so that is a plus. Now newer models of this trailer on the kaufman web sight shows it as a class 8. This one is 50' not 53' like the newer one
      unless the auction listing was wrong. I'm hoping to have it restored by August and it will not cost but 12,0000 for the low and 14000 for the high.

    nice brotha. just a little tip if there’s nowhere to hook next to your tire you can always go straight to the frame. especially on trucks

    Why not load the first SUV forward ? I’m a 9 car hauler but I’m curious to do this instead and I’m just wondering the reson of loading the first toward. 🤔

      I always backup first car to keep more weight on the trailer and less in my truck, I want my truck to last.

    What’s a weekly average gross? Sorry if it’s TMI, I’m asking because I’m in the same area as you guys and I’m also looking to drive only 4 days a week. I’ve done a price check on how much a truck, insurance & a trailer will cost financing is around 3,500 a month. Do you think it will be worth it?

      It varies a lot. I've been doing this for over 2 years and I still have some slow days. March 1st week (3 days) I made $1508, 2nd week (3 days) I made $1400, 3rd week (4 days) I made $1816, last week was very slow I only worked (1 day) quick run I made $242. My gross total was $4,966

    How big of a trailer do i need for 2 cars and do i need to go thru scales or any certifications of that matter please thanks

    • @riosautotransportllc
      @riosautotransportllc  Рік тому +1

      There’s lots of two car trailers out there. If you don’t have a CDL you need to be under 26k GVWR for both your trailer and truck. Yes you need to go thru scales. To get insurance you need a DOT number and DOT requires you to go thru scales. If you maintain your equipment and stay under your weight limits you’ll be fine going thru scales. I have a lot of videos to help you do both.
