    Funny thing about your willingness to share your knowledge is I'm actually now more willing to pay a professional porter because I have a better understanding of the knowledge, effort and value.

    My experience were relatively the same when these heads first came out. But I had to do all the valve guides, all the valve work, surface.... nothing was right.... And after 6 months one cracked. I'm pretty sure it wasn't user error.
    He came to his senses, bought afr's .

    Very impressive results on your porting resulting in incredible gains Eric!
    It'd be interesting to see some dyno results "with vs without" regarding that backwards AFR style vane.
    I find the vane somewhat counterintuitive. What are your thoughts on it regarding high lift port stability?
    Those heads ought to be good for a min of 650hp on an optimized for drag race 400?

    Beautiful work on those ports! What would you expect for horsepower from a 406 at 6500 with these heads, assuming cam, intake, etc, were optimized? Would it get to 625? As far as the pushrod pinch limit, could you cut the pushrod hole oversize and sleeve it like you do with some head bolt holes? Just curious on that one… Thanks Eric!

    What if you done a straight vein on those odd intake ports? Does the vein looks like it causes the air to turn the wrong direction when it’s coming into the chamber. What if you made that vein straight and leave the other two alone? Just a thought.

Basics are I a 4.030 bore , 6 inch rod “355” 13.2 comp w64cc & .039 head gasket upgrading to a .675 lift roller & say 104 or 102 lobe separation? Or better use 200cc ? & have ported ?

      i had just done a set of lt1 6.2 variant. definitely a bit tricky of a head to work on as its a very thin casting around the port.... end of the day i almost broke into the exhaust port just trying to size the bowl and i hadnt even touched the exhaust side yet. i assume the 5.3s variant with the small 1.92 valve would be much more meaty and give more room to play? i would be interested also to know. as far as how these lt1 heads came out... at .650 flowed 362 exhuast at .650 no pipe 237. both ports kept flowing up to .800 lift and past.

    Obviously besides the expense and needing offset rockers and lifters.

    If your fighting the casting on the pushrod side for area? Why not narrow the center divider further? I'm curious about the AFR valves of the present day. I know your pretty much a "Drag Racer" so full power applications are under 20 seconds of duration o any given pass...Just curious if AFR still sources their valves from KAR valves like they were over 10 years ago when I bought my "Race Eliminator 195 CnC" heads. Me? I view my valves when I'm running stiff "Solid Roller" springs as a potential weak link in the system and am more than willing to pay the price for a known piece of quality hardware. I know you have said "Manley Valves don't flow" but, Manley is more than willing to make any head profile you desire for just a few dollars more over their catalog offerings if you need a specific head profile. We had them replicate the AFR valves years ago...We knew they were shaped like they were to enhance air flow....That 10% gain was pretty awesome on those heads but, if they would offer some with a wider spaced pushrod passage with more meat on the pushrod side? I think the flow numbers could be made far better. Why wouldn't you send a sample to Brodix to mold and make cores from and get some heads sourced from the USA that will allow you to do all that is possible with a 23 degree head?

    • @WeingartnerRacing
      @WeingartnerRacing  Рік тому

      If you make the divider too thin they do not seal. Afr has two different valves one is thicker. Afr has a parts warranty on their valves for two years. Brodix would do it but it would cost a fortune. Like 30k

    So once again let me ask about a 350 cid engine. Pump gas 9:1 engine, with these heads. Would it be a dog until upper rpms?
    Imagine these with a 350cid, lots of rpm and turbos.
    Maybe a 4.040 bore and 3.875 stroke 397cid high rpm setup shaft rockers.
    Now let me ask, can you do a dart cast iron version with these flow numbers. I’m really not a fan of aluminum.
