Levite priests were not sitting in comfy, climate controlled offices, working on a sermon, and taking folks out to lunch on the church's dime. And the rest of the tithe was to provide for widows, fatherless, and aliens. Its was NOT to build a country club-like church campus. To purchase state of the art sound systems, and pay generous salaries for nepotism jobs for the pastor's family members. I give nearly 20% of my income to Gospel-focused ministries and missions. As for my church, I had to step back on giving there, when I saw how much they spent on unnecessary "Improvements and updates" to the sound system and sanctuary. It was all about aesthetics, not need. The previous sound system was fine. As was the carpet and chairs that were replaced. I believe in the law of paying a full tithing along with offerings for the poor... Those who say tithing is the Church's fraudulent way of getting rich are very evil people. This is how GODs Church grows throughout the world for building Churches to worship in, Temples for doing the ordinance work for our dead and the living... Our leaders do not get paid for their work. The Prophet and Apostles or any leader in this Church give of their time and talents to Christs Church. I have been given so many blessings because of paying tithing and offerings and I do it WILLINGLY and not because of anyother reason...
Most leaders do not get paid, but many of the apostles and prophets are paid a stiphon from the Church. I think that our leaders do live modestly as well. Many of the prophets gave up careers where they were doing very well financially to work full time for the LORD. These stiphons likely do not even come from our tithing, probably from Church investments. But I do agree that our leaders are not getting rich from tithing. Why would you give up a prosperous career to work for the Church to live more modestly if it were not true? Temples and churches are being built everywhere around the world for God's children. I love the way the LORD works across this world with our tithes and offerings to bring about His work.

5 Reasons why today's version of tithing is not a biblical obligation. 1. In the Bible, the poor received a tithe every three years. There is no biblical evidence that they were ever required to pay one. 2. There's no such thing as a biblical tithe received from earned wages. Not Jew nor Gentile. Not New Testament, or Old. 4. There's no biblical promise of a blessing for continually paying money to a religious organization. The tithe indictment in Malachi 3:10 can't be universally applied, historically or currently, and it had nothing to do with money. The narrative in the book of Malachi is primarily directed towards the Levitical Priests. 5. The phrase "treasures in heaven" has nothing to do with paying money to today's version of a church. KIMBALL SAID WHEN HE WAS PRESIDENT OF THE QUORUM OF THE TWELVE, AND WHAT THE CURRENT HANDBOOK STATES: IT STATES INCOME. TITHING, HOWEVER, SHOULD BE BASED ON ONE'S ANNUAL INCREASE. IF I WAS WEALTHY AND BOUGHT AN UNEMPLOYED FAMILY MAN A $10,000 CAR, THE LORD DOES NOT EXPECT HIM TO SELL IT, PAY $1,000 TITHING AND THEN BUY ANOTHER CAR FOR $9,000. I HAVE ALREAADY PAID TITHING ON THE $10,000 THUS IT IS UNNECESSARY FOR THE UNEMPLOYED MAN TO SELL THE CAR AND PAY IT AGAIN. THIS IS WHERE PEOPLE BECOME SPIRITUAL HOBBYISTS OR EVEN FANATICS. @@guitar-picker so are we paying a tithe because we love god? or are we paying it as a transaction for blessings as your scripture clearly indicates.
In any event I would never pay a tithe to a church who is dishonest and non-transparent as to how it is used. To a church who fears that if members found out about how much the $church has, that they would stop paying tithing! And who's missionaries have forever taught that it is used to help the poor and needy which it hardly does when you consider the scale of tithing donations. to a church who was found wanting in its financial reporting with church leaders failing to take any accountability by simply blaming it on legal counsel. Any other normal member of the church accused of financial mismanagement of church funds would have been excommunicated. No. I would never pay tithes to a church who's leaders are dishonest. They may hide behind grandious speeches from the pulpit but they do not even follow there own law
I would sooner use my money to help my close and extended family and local community then to a church that sees themselves above the laws of the land!
@@guitar-picker not to an organisation of dishonest leaders who show no real concern for those who do pay tithes and then end up in hardship and show no transparency with exactly what is tithing money is being used for. What exactly do the missionaries teach about where tithing money goes? and does it actually truly go there?
@ZelphBallard-bg9mt If the leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints are dishonest, they will be removed. PERIOD!
Tithing pays for new church buildings, temples, and maintenance on all of these buildings. Plus, tithing will help send missionaries into the world. The church owns farms and ranches all over the USA. This helps provide food for those in need.
I hope this is an adequate explanation for you.
@ZelphBallard-bg9mt I'm sorry that you feel hurt. Remember, the leaders of the church are humans too, and sometimes make mitakes. And if we cannot forgive, neither can we be forgiven.
Peace my friend.
What a nonsense
