I’ve had Ridge Grapplers on my F-150 now for 2 years. Do mostly over landing and very happy with them. No issues at all, and get through whatever I challenge them to do!

I've had 3 sets in a row of the Toyo Open Country RT's. On a 2017 GMC 1500 Z71 with a 6" lift, running 35x12.50r22s, a 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with a 4.5" lift running 35x12.50r20s and a 2019 F250 Limited with a 3.5" lift running 37x12.50r22s. Hands down the BEST BEST BEST tire I have ever run. I'm 43 years old and have been buying off-road tires for 27 years. I've had them all. From BFG ATs & MTs, Kelly Springfield's, Super Swamper's, Nittos, Mickey Thompson's, Pathfinders, Toyo's, Yokohama's, you name it, and I've tried it. I get ridiculous good mileage out of the Toyo Open Country RTs. I just put 60k miles on my most recent set on my F250. I had been hearing tons of stuff on the Ridge Grappler and see a ton of guys running them so I tried a set. Went from the 37s on my F250 down to a set of 35x12.50r22 Ridge Grapplers. I'm a little shocked to hear the guy in the video saying the Ridge Grapplers were quieter. Seriously? Not on my truck. My other complaint was how the Ridge Grapplers handle in the rain. TRASH! I live in Texas and we get big down pours. The only time I drove in heavy rain the truck handled like garbage! I sold the F250 last week and bought a 2022 GMC Sierra Denali 2500. Going strait back to the Open Country RTs. Best off road tire I've ever had. The Ridge Grapplers look cool as hell but I didn't like them. That's my $0.02

I had nitto trail grapplers mts and was happy wore them out an went with atturo 375/45r20 which are beautiful on the mud but would not dare to drive in the rain whatsoever. A tire that is rarely mentioned is the nitto exo grappler. I threw them on my 2018 f350 and love them! Also a hybrid, maybe leaning a bit more towards the MT styling but 2 major things that make them excel over the ridge grappler or RT's: 1) they have the 3-peak mountain snowflake rating for winter and wet conditions (many guys I first hand asked about the the ridge graps said they're plain scary in the wet or snow and here in the vancouver area that is a deal breaker) and 2) They're built for heavy duty trucks like the big heavy diesels. Definetely worth checking out if you have a superduty or cummins etc...as they should out last and out perform both the ridge graps or the RT's in many cases. A real hidden gem. I've had ko2's and open country at2's on other trucks and like these the best so far. At3's could be a new contender too!

As far as noise goes they're probably in between the ridge grapplers and a MT. Not bad enough to be annoying but you can hear em at speed.

I’m running the nitto ridge grapplers on my 19 f250 work truck 25k miles so far ride great and drive on average 50-75 miles of rough oilfield lease roads daily at pretty high speed which normally tear up tires pretty fast but these are holding up very well and I’m super impressed they will be going on my personal vehicle when it needs tires.

I went from the ridge grappler to the Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT (both in 37x12.5/R17)
The cooper doesn’t look quite as aggressive and it was a about 1/4” shorter in height BUT it’s made in America by an American company (now more important than it ever has been), significantly lighter in weight and based on my first 20,000 miles on them, they will last approximately 60-70,000 miles with rotation every 6500 miles. I was replacing my ridge grapplers at 45k due to them becoming ice skates in the rain at that point.

Between my JKUR and Ram Rebel I’ve ran Toyo M/T, R/T, AT2 and AT3.
The M/T is of course the superior off road tire with good on road manors.
The R/T was a great all around except in snowy conditions. Fits nicely as a hybrid tire in Toyo OC line up.
AT2 (had 2 sets) was a strong competitive all terrain tire but that new AT3 is a lot better and looks great.

RT 13.50 37" 20's on my '17 Ram CTD. 30k miles and just slightly less than half tread left. They've worn evenly, ride smoothly and are fairly quiet. Tires are round with one assembly only taking 3/4 ounce to balance. Of course, I always look for Road Force Touch balancing machines. Great tire if your truck sees a lot of street use. My only complaint is that my experience in the snow with them was not good. Puckered me up a few times. Will definitely buy another set.

Have you guys ever run Recon Grapplers? Main reason I ask is the weight capacity is about 500# more per tire (3650ish). I have a truck camper so that is important, although my current KO2's are in that 3150 range (35's) that most of the others are. Quiet is important but my older KO2's probably not as quiet as they used to be and my brothers RT's don't bother me. Recons look like they'd be quiet as well. The look of Recon and Ridge Grapplers as well as RT's all have a nice aggressive appearance.

Tires of this type have been around for a very long time. They have existed as "commercial traction" tires. They have just never been marketed heavenly to the average consumer. Kelly Springfield was the lone exception. They had the DTR back in the early 1990's and then the TSR in the 2010's. Both of these were aggressive hybrids and i have owned multiple sets of each. The TSR was and is fantastic. They are quit, well mannered, very capable off-road, and have very long tread life. So, to me, the Kelly TSR should be credited with starting the modern useful 'hybrid" tire trend not Nitto. Nitto deserves the gold star though for cashing in and reviving a market no one seemed to believe was so large. Back in the 80's and 90's bro trucks use to rock hard core mud tires or other "all terrains" that were designed purely for looks such as the SS Thorn Birds and various other offerings from Mickey Thompson and Dick Cepek. Most of these modern "hybrids" perform better off road than the old stuff.

Man one. I had too mt on two trucks and my current ram 2500. My toyo mts where awesome! They were pretty quiet! I switched to ridge grapplers and they make the truck handle funky! I hate them. Have had the two swapped out and they was slightly better but still cause the truck to halve and wonder funky. Mostly at freeway speeds. Maybe its just my luck.

How about weight differences with the common tires you guys run? I'm assuming this would help understand about "stopabilty" and/or milage. Also, what kind of milage differences from stock are people are seeing? Granted this depends on alot of different factors.

These big diesel trucks that are made to tow 14,00-30,000 pounds don't really mind tire weight when it comes to stopping or starting. Tread pattern seems to play more of a role in the rolling resistance and reduction in fuel mileage than anything else. The more aggressive the tread, the larger the degrease in fuel economy is.

We feel the exact same way about the RTs in ice. Those large center lugs just don’t hook up. In our opinion, tires with smaller lugs like the Nitto Ridge Grappler or Nitto Terra Grappler G2 tend to do better on the ice, unless you want to do a Duratrac or a true winter tire.
